Episode #11,242 Director – Herb Stein

Boy, there was so much anger, yelling & arguing in this show, it made my head hurt. And truly, the show is rather slow moving in this episode, starting out with the scenes we saw at the end of last Thursday. In Maggie’s kitchen, Stephanie is about to walk out the door, when Melanie get a call telling her that Nathan & Philip are in jail. Over at the Salem PD, the cell door slams shut on the boys, and they begin to argue, yell, etc. Nathan doesn’t think Melanie should marry Philip, too soon, she’s too young, they only had a couple of dates, he wants to talk some sense into her. Philip argues back about them loving each other, nothing he can do about it, starts giving Nathan a hard time about Stephanie. Nathan denies anything between them, the “just friends” bit, throws it in Phil’s face on he was just engaged to Stephanie himself, dumped her to latch on to Melanie, and is only going to hurt her, too. The girls arrive, they stop the arguing. Stephanie goes to arrange bail for Nathan, Phil’s lawyer has done so already for him. He is let out, but has paperwork to sign, Mel stays cuz Nathan wants to talk. He tries his best to make her see she is rushing into this whole thing, she denies it, they argue, she reminds him he dumped her himself, washed his hands of her. Out in another room, Stephanie sits at a table (now her coat is off, and she is in one of her cut low in front and back little mini dresses, (surprised it doesn’t feel a mite chilly when she sits down, lol) & Philip comes in. He clues her in on the argument, and that Nathan seems to still have feelings for Melanie. His paperwork is done, he leaves, the cop gives Stephanie a paper to sign for Nathan’s release. She tears it up, saying he can call his grandmother to bail him out, and takes off. Philip comes to get Melanie as she is tearfully declaring to Nathan that she does love Philip and does want to marry him. They leave, a frustrated Nathan rests his head against the bars.

At the K mansion, in Vivian’s room, Hope thinks she is close to getting the puzzle box open, when she & Justin hear the voices of Victor & Vivian coming down the hall. They panic, Victor is protesting he is just not hungry, Viv is promising herbs that will fix him right up, opens the door to find Justin & Hope kissing and really into it. Hope & Justin break apart, look guilty, a very angry Victor tells both to get out of his house immediately. They are trying to “explain”, he doesn’t want to hear it, just wants them to leave his house NOW. First Justin, then Hope tries to explain, and finally Hope gets her way, makes up this lame excuse (and Vic calls it just that) of it being after midnight, both she & Justin run into each other in the hall, feeling bad for themselves at being alone on New Year’s, one thing led to another. Vivian wants to know why they were in her room, Hope just says they thought they heard someone coming and ducked into the nearest room. Victor doesn’t care, he wants Justin out, this is his son’s wife, he has disrespected the relationships. Justin leaves, Victor asks Vivian to also leave so he can talk to Hope. Now he wants to know what else is going on…..Hope is evasive, but finally, reluctantly, tells Victor how she saw Bo & Carly kissing. This does not set well with him at all, he doesn’t understand why Bo doesn’t see that Carly is worse than Chloe, Sami & Nicole all rolled into one. They argue, Hope finally says she & Ciara will move out first thing in the morning, but Victor talks her out of that. He wants her to stay there.
Downstairs, Justin comes down with briefcase and packed dufflebag, running into Vivian, who know questions him, and Justin finally spills the beans to Viv about Hope seeing Bo & Carly kissing. He leaves, on his way to the Salem Inn…Vivian grabs her coat and takes off.

Bo has come to the hospital, telling Carly he talked to the hospital in Switzerland. For some reason, he has to take her down to the pier to tell her what he learned, which was not much. Yada, yada about someone…..not necessarily Vivian, inquiring…the flood at the hospital, the date obscured on the paper work, etc. etc. Carly is happy about that, Viv doesn’t know about her daughter then. They chat a bit, he complains slightly about how he can see Justin coming on to his wife. Carly insinuates she can see Justin seems to have feelings for Hope. She gets a page back to the hospital, Bo takes out some flashing neon 2010 headpiece for her. She laughs, puts it on her head and takes off.
But over in the hospital, Carly takes the blue neon 2010 out of her pocket, looks at it, and flashes back to New Year’s long ago, when, in her teddy and on the big bed, Bo gave her the ship’s bell, and they began to “celebrate”.

Hope calls Justin, tells him how she almost moved out, but Vic talked her into staying. Justin is glad of that, cuz the only way to find out what Vivian knows is to be in that house. So stay put. She asks him what just happened between them, it was wrong. Justin plays dumb, tells her they only did what they had to do, it was just a kiss, and it worked. Victor & Vivian did not suspect a thing. She agrees, tells him Happy New Year, they hang up.
Justin arrives at the Pub, which is dark, closed, says damn, and along comes Carly. She sees the duffle bag, asks what is going on, he explains his uncle kicked him out, he is on the way to the Salem Inn. She sweetly asks if this by any chance has something to do with Hope.

Nicole lies on her cell bunk, is told she has a visitor, with eyes closed, says to go away. Never, replies Brady, she opens her eyes, smiles. He is worried, she is not eating, just laying on her bunk, she tells him she has just given up, she can’t remember any more, has no idea who has taken Sydney or why, is worried about her, everything is pointless. Brady assures her his lawyer is going to get her off, her trial is tomorrow, pull herself together, yada, yada. Now she tells him that when she first returned to Salem, opened the door and there he was, she knew in that instant that he was THE LOVE OF HER LIFE, wishes she had acted upon it back then. He says something about perhaps it not being too late, then talks of how he wanted back then to just take her in his arms. (and where the heck is this all coming from??? LOL) He gives her more pep talk about the trial, she agrees to pull herself together, be in court, not give up… he leaves, she calls a guard, says she wants to call her lawyer, & sobbing, she does so. When she reaches him she says she knows what she did was wrong and wants to change her plea. She wants to throw herself on the mercy of the court.

Along the pier comes Vivian, spots Bo, and in her own inimitable way, just manages to tell Bo all about her & Victor finding Hope & Justin in that embrace, passionately kissing. This does not set well with Bo at all, who cannot believe this at first, but she assures him she and Victor saw with their own eyes and were appalled. Bo is uncomfortable, but Vivian blithely continues on, sticking that long, long hatpin in a bit further, as she reminds him that his actions with Carly has driven his wife right in Justin Kiriakis’s bed. Is that the outcome you expected it to be. No, I didn’t think so. She snuggles inside her fur coat, blathering about going back to Victor’s for some of his delicious champagne, and takes off. Bo is visibly upset, muttering “FancyFace, what did you go and do”.

Seems Vivian is really getting back into her prime.
Should be an interesting, if slow show.

And what's with Nicole? Love of her life? She had the chance for Brady before she married EJ! She knew then he loved her!

And one question... Why does Victor care so much about "revenge" on Carly? Why would he be going along with this plan of Vivian's?

Thanks for the write up Poirot. I was able to get the video, but not the audio. Ohh so Stephanie is going to drop Nathan now. Let him stay in Jail. Boy I was hoping that Melanie would listen to Nathan.
Boy Bo looks upset that Hope kissed Justin. It is the same thing that he did with Carly and he did not seem to think that was wrong. Just loved the flash back of Bo and Carly.

And Bo is questioning what Hope has gone and done....??? Yesterday, he was telling Carly how his marriage was over and he didn't care about Hope and was begging Carly to get physical with him....good lord, I just don't like that guy anymore....

Oh, that twit Stephanie will change her mind and go running back to Nathan simply so that Melanie can't have both of them....!!! Or will she make an overt effort to go after Philip...??? Hmmmm, she'll do something to harm Melanie, you can be sure of that....

Brady is a head case.....he shouldn't be leading Arianna on if Nicole is the one he really wants...course, I guess he doesn't want to be alone with Nicole locked away...poor guy....men...!!!!

I love how Victor is so protective of Hope and her marriage to his son. He cares more about their marriage than they do.

I can't wait to see Vivian's scenes with Bo. She's so fun to watch when she has gossip to spread.

I wonder why Stephanie has the authority to sign release papers for Nathan. I guess it was just for dramatic effect so she could rip them up when she realizes that Nathan isn't interested in her. Because, of course, it's all about HER, isn't it?

ThatsafactJB asked why Victor wants revenge against Carly. While he's not as invested in the plot as Vivian, Victor was once either engaged or married to Carly, only to find out she really loved Bo. Then she threw Bo over as well so she could be with Lawrence. I don't remember the details (obviously) but you know Victor ... he knows how to hold a grudge and doesn't mind abetting Vivian's quest to get even.

She's demonstrated more class in her pinky than Steph has in her body on numerous occasions dating back to the days when Steph's insecurities began spilling out all over the place . . . remember the day she slapped Melanie across the face in her own kitchen . . . for nothing!

@kpatch........Stephanie was posting bail for Nathan.....that is why she was supposed to sign the paper.....but she tore it up, telling the guard to tell Nathan to call his grandmother to bail his butt out of jail. (she did not say butt, used a similar word.....lolol)
