Just because things aren't going the way you think they should is no reason to stomp your feet and have a tantrum... If this show is not keeping you interested or too slow for you, then by all means stop watching. But by the same token, don't B--ch about it. Be your own person and watch something else.

I have stopped watching many shows because I hated it, even though I hear others saying how great the show is. But, Days is certainly not one of them. I have watched Days from the start and I agree, there have been a lots worse stories then the ones they have today. I think Marlena's Possession stands out as the worse for me. But I am still a faithful fan. That's the greatiest thing about a DVR. You can fast forward through the parts you hate, and go on to the better ones.
I also want to say I am saddened by the passing of Frances Reid. I always loved watching her, and she seemed to be the only one with the Salem Brain most of the time.

Yup. I didn't watch the possession storyline either. Didn't interest me. I stopped watching and came back afterward. I caught up with the rest of the stories and I've been watching every since. If I don't like a particular storyline, I FF and life is good.

I always anticipated that the show would last at least as long as Frances Reid was living and that her passing would be first sign of the show’s end. What I didn’t anticipate is that by the time she died, Days would have already changed so much that I wouldn’t care whether it ended or not. I stopped watching regularly months ago in hopes that when Days got past its March ’10 deadline it would finally be tolerable again. Since then, I have thought about how many other times I told myself to just give the show a chance until such and such could happen, especially in the past 2-3 years; how seldom I’ve actually enjoyed the show in that time period, and how much I enjoy other soaps I watch and didn't miss Days at all. The news about Bryan Dattilo was the final straw, not simply because of Lucas or Lucas/Sami but because I took it as the signal that TPTB have no intention of restoring the show I once loved, ever. With the exception of a few villain characters, all of the other longtime characters have either been exiled from Salem, back burnered or altered beyond recognition. Storylines come and go and I have out waited many, many of those but the characters make the show. Without them, Days isn’t Days. For me, it has already ended. I will watch the last of Lucas’ scenes and then never turn the show on again. What I do still care about however, is this board and all of the fans here who do enjoy the show. So for all of you, I hope that Days will last indefinitely. Since I won’t be watching or even reading about the show anymore after the 16th, I’ll stop posting a few days/weeks after that when any relevant discussions of those episodes have ended. In the meantime, I still plan to share all of my viewpoints as openly as ever.

No, it is not time for the show to end. There are storylines that bore me too, but I have watched on and off since the show debuted.

Sunny, what you do is, of course, up to you and maybe you need to take a little time off from the show. You can't force yourself to like something that is boring you to death.

Example: My sons and their families absolutely swear by "Lost" and have tried for years to get me interested. A week or so ago, I watched part of an old episode and it bored me no end. I'm not saying it's not a good show; I'm saying it doesn't appeal to me. This week, my older son was talking again about getting together and watching DVD's from the start through the present. I politely told him that when he was ready to sit down with me and watch the past 20 years of "Law and Order," I'd watch all the "Lost" episodes. Needless to say, we came to a meeting of the minds and I don't have to try to like "Lost."

KathyLu-that is how I feel about watching Grey's anatomy- I just can't get into it and I gave it a shot.

I just watched the tribute to Frances Reid that was posted here and after seeing that, I want Days to continue for many many more years!!!

While I will miss Alice/Frances and may the Lord bless and take her home.

I do not want Salem to die as well. i love Salem and all the people that live there, some more than other and some I love to hate. I hope they are around a great many more years. There have been some pretty bad storylines the possesion of Marlena was the one that got me to stop watching for a while, but over all I love it there.

I've never seen alice on the show past or present anyway. all your threads seem to be about the demise of bo and hope. that doesn't mean the show is over. imo bo and hope have the most annoying storyline. i wouldn't mind missing their segments.

I would have to say no to the original question. Frances/ Alice hasn't been on the show for quite a while now and although I like her and am saddened over her passing, the show still has a lot more to offer. I currently enjoy watching the show and talking about it here for the most part. I agree with dariandiva in finding that Bo/Hope is the most annoying storyline for me to watch right now and have stopped watching their scenes for the most part. My time is limited and I would not watch something that bores me. I have stopped watching shows for blocks of time in the past and even altogether. If I felt about the entire show the way I currently feel about the Bo/ Hope storyline, now would definitely be a time I would not be watching again. To each their own in what appeals to them, but there are varying reasons why all of us watch this show.
