My heartfelt sympathy for the family members of Frances Reid, That said, I certainly don't think the show should end. I just hope the writers read the SS occassionally and see how tired people are of the current s/l's. A Writer shake-up couldn't hurt, get some new blood or even old blood that can write for a long time daytime drama. The pot needs stirring!

I don't want the show to end. It is disappointing to lose characters I've liked for a long time, and it is exasperating to see characters change, but I will continue to watch as long as there are some people and stories I enjoy.

I don't know if you have posted on/read these boards very long, dariandiva, but that is par for the course for any front burner storyline. In a few months, this one and the kidnapping (I hope!) will wind down and you will see multiple threads about the next hot story. It's just human nature.

I'm just a little confused here over equating the death of a beloved actress with saying the show should be over. If that was the case, then the show would've / should've ended with the passing of MacDonald Carey who portrayed Dr. Tom Horton, patriarch of the Horton family.

With that reasoning, you could also say Days should've ended with the passing of the Cordays since they created the show.

The death of a show happens with the death of ratings. It's a business.

Thank you! I have been saying that for years in my defense of Ken Corday's reasons for doing what he does with the show. He's in it to make money, plain and simple.

Although I haven't been watching as long as many (likely most) people here, I find no reason to stop watching the show. Sadly, Alice's character had been forced into the background because of her poor health, so many of us are not accustomed to seeing her in the foreground of storylines. My hope is they will give her a deserved and loving sendoff, which I'm looking greatly forward to.

As far as the Hope/Bo debacle, meh. Truth be told, as much as most people here feel they are both acting out of character for them, I do feel as though the story is maintaining some realism. We tend to become a bit unrealistic as soap opera watchers when it comes to the outlandish events we see on a regular basis. Any one of the strange or traumatic events these characters have dealt with singularly would probably destroy most real life relationships. I'm actually excited to see Days is attempting to show the real (albeit ugly) feelings of bitterness, resentment, and blame those situations would produce. It's not comfortable to watch, but I feel there is a tone of honesty here. Ultimately it would be nice to see them go through painstaking work to restore their relationship and start from a neutral point, but I would also understand how that would not be possible. Whether they do or not has no bearing on my decision to continue to watch Days.
