Yawwnnnn. Zzzzzzz. Oh, sorry, must have dozed off. So let's go over all the exciting things that happened today. Chad is in the square, on his phone, as off in the distance Kate continues to badger Gabi to go tell Chad how she feels, before it is too late. Sorry, but this is all stupid, and definitely wash, rinse and repeat. Gabi can't Kate pesters, Gabi takes a couple of steps, nope, cannot. Over at the Kmansion, Andre is doing the same badgering and pestering to the unsure Abigail. More repetition.

And up in Canada, a distracted Nicole is not really listening as more repeating from Brady about it taking 2 weeks for new identities, maybe they should go go South America. Now Brady wants to go out for a walk, Nicole begs off, he leaves......she counts down, 5,4,3,2,1, and yep, there is Scooter, once more insisting on her giving him a good time as Misty Circle. They argue, he threatens to tell his wife, the cop, about Nicole Walker, kidnapper, blah, blah. He leaves, she ponders, decides she cannot kill him after all. So, she calls him, leaves a message that he has his date with Misty Circle, meet her at 9 p.m. at the Green Leaf Motel.

Gabi is rather upset, Eli comes along, is very understanding and sympathetic. Ha has his arm around her on the park bench, Julie appears with a box of his father's belonging, asks Gabi to leave, she does. Julie tells him to stay away from Gabi, fills him in on her killing Nick. Eli is grateful for her bringing him the stuff, but let's her know, when she knows him better, she will understand he makes decisions for himself.

Andre gets to jabbering with Kate at the Kmansion, trying to make her see the error of her ways in re: Chad & Abby. JJ & Jen are there, Abby appears, looks terrific. They talk to their very few guests, wanting them all to be part of this vow renewal. Kate is definitely reluctant but Andre makes her grab Jen's hand, all are sitting in a semi circle, holding hands.

Chad makes a lovely speech to Abby, heartfelt, she listens, smiles. But then she gets really serious , asks everyone to leave, she wants to talk to her husband privately. He asks what is wrong, he can fix whatever it is, just tell him, he will fix it. She is very serious as she quietly say she can no longer be his wife, he belongs with Gabi.
 
Barb, we should've arranged for a wake-up call for you while you were watching this.

Honestly, as I was watching, I truly was falling asleep. And then the same conversations over and over again.

I really, though, want to know why Kate is pushing Gabi so hard to go after Chad. Why? She sure isn't urging Chad to go after Gabi, but claims Chad is like a son to her. Is he? WHY?
 
It is ridiculous how they have just changed history to push this Chad/Gabi "love" story along. All the stupid baseball stuff. And let's just forget that she was obsessed with Chad 5 or so years ago when he was dating Melanie. He wanted nothing to do with her. Gabi was the reason Melanie was kidnapped and kept quiet about it when she realized it. But that's not important anymore. Abigail saying "it's always been Gabi" No it has not always been Gabi!!!! I had read spoilers that Abby was gonna nix the renewal and honestly I was expecting Chad to pull a Ross and say Gabi instead of Abby. At least those rhyme. :rotfl:

But after his heartfelt speech I don't understand her wanting to end it. Now Gabi is getting close to Eli so of course Chad will be available. I liked that Eli said I heard there were extenuating circumstances about Nick's murder. Uh yeah, but Julie doesn't see that.

I posted this somewhere else too but wasn't sure how much it would be seen. I was shocked to learn that Bill Hayes (Doug) is gonna be 92 in June!! 92! That's crazy.

I wish Nicole would tell Brady what is going on. Can Scooter and Hillary please just go away??
 
I've put up with a lot of bad writing on this show throughout the years, but today's junk rates right down there with the worst of it.

The only good part of the whole Chad/ Abigail travesty was Andre. Lordy, did I just say that?!?!

The Nicole/ Scooter junk was just plain disgusting. Then a freaking supposed sexy underwear commercial with scantily clad models was thrown in the middle of it. Who the heck at Days, Sony, or NBC thought that was appropriate???
 
Bill Hayes (Doug) is a lot of years older than his wife (about 18), but they sure are still in love! He was born & raised in chicago, so I was very familiar with the name, tho confess I did not know he was on a soap until I began watching Days. LOL. He did lots of clubs, Broadway Musicals, TV, even the #1 hit, Ballad of Davy Crockett. Ha.

I truly wish (have said this before) that someone would blurt out all that Nick did before he died, so Julie won't be so defensive and protective of her wonderful, sweet nephew. Ugh.
 
I'm enjoying Gabi and Eli's burgeoning relationship and I hope continues to develop. As far as Julie goes, well, there has to be conflict somewhere and having it be of a non romantic nature could be a refreshing change. I've always felt dealing with Julie should have been part of Gabi's story immediately upon her getting out of prison. I don't think I need to say whose team I'm on do I? LOL

All I have to say about Abigail nixing renewing her marriage vows, largely in part due to an inscription written by Gabi in Chad's high-school yearbook, I found myself wiping my brow in relief. Because I was afraid she would do it over something stupid.
 
Why was it decided Kate as Chad's family member to appear? Would it not be better to have only one family member than also another actively working to undermine Chad's relationship with his wife?

I will be disappointed if Chad does not fight to be with Abby, to show her that despite whatever supposedly grew between him and Gabi during her disappearance, Abby still comes first.
That is the story I want to see.

Abby already has a history with mental illness and she left because she felt too much pressure. I see this as just another manifestation of that.

Chad fight for you wife!
 
An interesting episode.

I can't believe Nicole didn't tell Brady again the truth about Scooter knowing their real
names. Sometimes I can't believe how dopey Brady really is.

I laughed when Scooter said Canadian Mountie because I thought of Dudley Do Right.

Why did Andre just walk into bedroom without knocking? Why did Abby just let him
sit on the bed when she was in her bathrobe?

Gabi told Eli she was the original Salem witch. I don't think so. I think Kate is.

I almost cried when Chad gave his renewal vow then I remembered I saw the preview.
 
Chad and Abby's vows were beautiful up until she stopped the wedding. I knew she would but I was really disappointed in what she said about Chad belonging with Gabi. Come on. She should have said because Chad is not over Gabi and ended it at that.

I'm tired of all these retcons of history that we actually saw RECENTLY. What happened to Abby's mental health issues? All swept under the rug?

Kate and Andre as wedding guests but no Theo, Steve, Kayla, Adrienne, Sonny, Joey? Again missed opportunity with not having Steve involved here as a father figure. Go away Kate!!!

Still not seeing chemistry with Gabi and Eli. Friend chemistry yes but not romantic. I like JJ/Gabi and Eli/Lani much better but we only get snippets of these 2 couples while we get overload of Gabi. I like Gabi but too much of any one character is never a good thing.
 
Those who stayed awake through this episode might have been left wondering if the writers deliberately set out to make the characters look like a pack of fools. First out of the gate is Abigail who is the "other woman's" dream wife. Despite the fact that her husband is not having an affair, she throws in the towel and tells him that he should be with the woman that she "knows" he really loves. And why do they do this? Probably so they can stage a problem-fraught resumption of the Gabi-Chad relationship and portray a romance between airhead Abby and slimy Dario.

North of the border, Nicole was acting just like teenagers in horror movies who decide to go for a midnight swim despite the fact that a crazed killer is lurking in the woods. First, she inexplicably fails to tell poor Brady that pervert Scooter knows who she really is and then decides not to go along to the farmer's market, which predictably means that her creepy nemesis can walk in and harass her again. Could such plotting be more ridiculously obvious? Really, who makes this stuff up?
 
I finally watched this episode. Oh my, I had to fast forward a lot. As has already been said, same old conversations over and over. Also, I wanted to knock Abigail's and Nicole's heads together to see if there was anything in either of them besides mush. Kate was way past annoying, and the renewal thing was unwatchable for me. Can't imagine anything more ridiculous than having that particular group of people holding hands. The whole scene was uncomfortable to watch. Strange as it seems, I'm going to go along with Red Squirrel and say Andre was the best part.
