Tripp sits in the Pub with an attorney, who is talking of Tripp 's inheritance, getting it in increments, etc. Patch walks in, hears a bit of it, goes to the bar as the lawyer leaves. Steve gets a beer, joins Tripp at the table, (Tripp also has a beer, was offering to buy the entire joint a beer) as Tripp joyfully talks of now being rich, while his father advises him not to take the money.Nope, Tripp can pay his bills, not live paycheck to paycheck, work in diners, etc. He wants his mom's videos back, Steve tells him that when he saw the videos, he realized he had not told his son enough about his mother. Proceeds to do so. He talks of the nice woman he first met, they fell in love, being kidnapped on the wedding day unbeknownst to Ava, having horrible things done to him. She learns she is pregnant, he is gone. When he gets free he has no idea who he is, and when Tripp is born, her father stole him away from her, then filled her full of drugs. He goes on and on, explaining what a vicious person she became, how she kidnapped Kayla, nearly killed her, became a huge danger to his entire family. Tripp still refers to him killing Ava, but Steve just talks of how vicious she became.

He also talks of where the money came from really, how it is Vitali blood money from the father. They drink beer and really have a long, long talk. Steve is his father, whether he takes that money or not, Steve also had a father who knocked him around, had him think the father only did it cuz he cared and was only one who cared. Tripp has to decide what is more important to him, the money, or a good family. He is picking up pizza, invites Tripp for dinner, Tripp declines, has to think. Steve pats him on the shoulder, leaves.

Joey comes into the apt., Jade missed him, he has to study. Kayla arrives with a couple shopping bags of groceries for them all, picked up a prescription of pain pills for Jade, warns about taking just one a day. Jade wants Joey to go to Azermuth, which evidently is some video game, Joey has to study. Kayla leaves, Jade asks Joey again, he says no, he has to study, leaves the room. Jade takes the pill bottle, shakes out a bunch, is starting to throw them in her mouth, Kayla walks in....STOP right there. Jade tries to claim she only was taking one, but a handful fell in her hand, Kayla doesn't buy it, Joey returns, is told what is going on. Kayla says Jade was trying to make herself sick, so Joey would take care of her. Jade tries to deny, but then is sheepish. Kay remarks the pills are placebos, she wanted to keep Jade safe. Jade whines about Kayla tricking her, Kayla reminds her they made her a part of their family. She leaves, Jade locks the door, Joey protests.

Now Jade goes on about what she and Joey had, the baby, etc. Joey firmly says he has told her over and over, cannot make it any plainer. There is nothing between them, they go back and forth, he tells her she has to move out.

Paul has met up with Marlena in the park, gives her an envelope, she doesn't understand, he assures her she will. She reads the letter, gasps and.........then she is in a motel room with John. Really, these scenes are all wonderful, very romantic, loving, all one would want from this couple, separated for 6 months, missing each other terribly, and so happy to be together. They stay close, murmur love to each other. He cannot stay, let's make the most of each moment we do have.I cannot do any description justice, so will not try. He cannot answer any questions about his mission, she just wants to know if he is safe. He is the safest when in her arms! When it is time to go, John assures Marlena, promises her, he will be back soon.

Paul has info for Sonny about Deimos. Sonny is bemoaning trying to run Basic Black but knowing nothing about fashions, shoes, etc. But Sonny has intercepted some message about antiquities to be shipped to the "homestead". The guys ponder, figure Deimos has another source since DiMera stole their previous one, would not have them shipped to the mansion, where is homestead? Maybe in Greece. They get busy on the laptop, find something (sorry...interrupted here) and are on to something. They both talk of getting used to new jobs, ones they never expected. Paul thought being out of baseball was the end for him, but is happy doing what he is doing. Sonny, tho, wants to still run Titan, help his family. Basic Black is not going to cut it.

Steve & Kayla meet up, talk a bit of how it went for each in dealing with the kids. Kayla assures Steve that Tripp will eventually come round, who could resist him. After all, he won her over, didn't he. kiss.

At the Pub, Tripp wants another beer, Roman is congenial, but Tripp is even not wanting a glass, but a whole pitcher. Nope, he has had enough, how about a bowl of chowder. Tripp doesn't like chowder, just soup with a fancy name.Wants his beer, No, he already had too much, should have been cut off before, Roman will talk to bartender, now will call a car. Tripp is getting belligerent, Roman still smiling, Tripp takes a swing, Roman uses police procedure, has Tripp's arm behind his back, head being held down on the table.

Next, Tripp is handcuffed to a chair at the cop shop, Roman comes in. Tripp insists he did not do anything, Roman says he took a swing at him, destroyed property at his family's Pub. He isn't going anywhere right now. Tripp claims he really didn't do anything, but Roman says he thinks a night in jail might do him a world of good.

The John/Marlena scenes were really great....Loved them. They were nuzzling together on the bed, you could not get a sliver of Saran wrap between them. LOL

Have a feeling that Deimos Antiquities shipment might be our old friend, Xander.

I also think Tripp is a good actor, he does good reactions (facial)

The Steve scenes sound wonderful, and so do the John/Marlena scenes. I'm super busy this week, I'll try to look them up on the NBC site.

I do have a question though - I wasn't watching during Ava's introduction - Steve knew who he was when he met Ava?

I'm glad Kayla tricked Jade with the pills.

I enjoyed the scenes with Paul and Sonny.

Nice to see Roman smiling today. Was it because he made an
arrest?

The best part of the show was John and Marlena... that's a fact

Evidently, he did. (we never saw that story on screen). What we saw was this orderly cleaning up in a hospital in Cleveland, wearing a patch, & the patient in the bed (this was Cincinnati) recognized him = patient was Jack, who convinced him of who he really was, talked him into going to Salem. Kayla fainted when she saw him,) Patch did not remember anything(courtesy of torture & brainwashing by Stefano)He had found himself one day on the city street, wallet with i.d. some other name....Harry ??? so that is what he went by. Kayla eventually got him to remember, & then Ava showed up. We eventually learned of "back" story.

At the time the actor had been written out, with the character supposedly dead to Salemites..tho viewers knew coffin had been switched.

Thanks for the summary. Great show with a break from the twenty something love quadrangle and Deimos. While I'm not big on the teens, the Tripp stuff was good, as was seeing Roman. And John & Marlena were great.

Tripp really needs a history lesson. Did he realize that he was drinking in the pub where Grandpa Vitali was shot down by Bo Brady? Is is aware that he was sitting in an establishment founded by a beloved man who was murdered by his sainted mother? And kudos to Roman. He finally got to make an arrest where the charges will stick. After all those years of arresting Stefano, Andre, and EJ to no good effect, one of his collars will pay the price (even if it is only a night in jail). Finally, it was good to see two loving adults, John and Marlena, sharing a moment. After being forced to watch bratty Claire dragging reluctant Theo to bed and pervy Scooter in a motel room with the hapless Hillary, this was a breath of fresh air (even if John is taking off yet again to parts unknown).

Let us remember that Roman is retired, and cannot "arrest" anyone. He definitely subdued Tripp, and probably called for a uniform to get Tripp down to the station. Also, yep, he was down at the station, is the accuser (Tripp took a swing at him, and destroyed Pub property) and the witness.

Yep, he could drop the charges, and Tripp could leave, but as he said, "A night in jail might do you some good".

Roman might be able to make a citizen's arrest. Inebriated Little Trippy's bad behavior in the Pub was arguably a breach of the peace and our hero did witness it himself. On the subject of a citizen's arrest, the Findlaw website has this to say: "In general, people can't use citizens arrests for misdemeanors unless the misdemeanor involves a breach of the peace. Even in these circumstances, however, individuals can only make arrests when they have personally witnessed the criminal behavior and the breach has just occurred or there is a strong likelihood that the breach will continue." This means that rough and rowdy Pub patrons had best watch out. Roman may be making lots of citizen's arrests to make up for all the criminals who got away with it while he was police commissioner. In fact, his greatest admirer, Giselle van Hopper, just might start patronizing the Pub so she can see her hero in action.

Since it was back story that we did not see, were only told, who knows?

When Ava showed up having finally found him, if I remember right, she was still being drugged, was housed in a compound with lots of guards to keep an eye on her.
