Good show, tho slow at times. Sami is getting impatient waiting to hear results of the exhuming of Will’s grave. Rafe finally suggests leaving the park (which looks like mid-summer) & going down to the cop shop. As they sit there, Sami is looking thru some file, Rafe takes it from her, it’s confidential, she says it is her file, she knows all that is in it, he comments about the 3000 pages elsewhere. LOL. Finally, the call comes, the grave is empty. Sami has the expected fit, Susan is such a liar, but it means, Will is alive, he is alive, etc.

JJ & Lani are at the cops shop, off duty, kissing, they are going out for her birthday today, but he gets a call about a break-in. Off they go, as no one else is available. They cautiously enter Club TBD, guns drawn, only to find a surprise birthday party for Lani going on…..Abe, Val, Theo, Claire…Lani is thrilled. Theo is rather occupied with his phone. Lots of birthday stuff, cake, candle blowing, Claire getting ticked at Theo who is trying to get the company he hired to cancel the followers. She doesn’t want to lose followers, but didn’t like the way Theo got them. He just cannot win, it seems, as she says he just doesn’t get her, but Tripp does. More arguing.

Tripp is sitting, nursing a beer, Steve joins him, figures he is mooning over Claire, advises him to move, that he doesn’t want to be part of a triangle, those never turn out well. We don’t see, but Steve tells Tripp how he lost his eye, that his best friend, Bo, did it, etc. Tripp doesn’t think Theo would come after him, Steve doesn’t either, but worries what staying in that situation will do to Tripp internally, eventually.

Andre is upset that Chad is accusing him of sabotaging the company, denies it, Abby believes him, Chad doesn’t Kate enters, adds her own snarky comments to the conversation, she also doesn’t believe Andre. Finally, Andre talks about his clean bill of health from the mental hospital, how happy he was to learn Stefano was his father, how proud of the company, and the faith Stefano had in him. He notes we are all family, that is what is important, and he would never betray his family. Chad believes him. Andre figures that someone knows every step they take, knows the company inside and out, and they have to find out who it is, working together. Cue Kate’s expression.

JJ & Lani have gone home, or at least to someone’s room, have the obligatory roll in the hay for Lani’s birthday. JJ has also told Lani he loves her. While in afterglow, JJ gets a call, a break-in down at the docks. They get dressed and vamoose.

Claire & Theo are still arguing, she says no more, we can talk at home. Theo will see her there later, has something to do first.

She goes home, rants to Tripp that she doesn’t know where Theo is, he evidently had something better to do.

Sami is ranting about Will being alive, Susan lying, and is going back to Memphis to find her, make her tell where Will is. Rafe is trying to stop the bulldozer, and finally gets her to shut up for 5 seconds, warning her she is still under restraining order there, & would end up in Tennessee jail. She doesn’t care, but Rafe again says, you are under a restraining order, can’t go near that house. But I can!

Sonny calls Paul, he has been released from the hospital, apologizes for all he put Paul through, Paul was right, Sonny wants him down at the hospital pronto. Paul will be right there. (he is in the bar, looking straight at Will). When Paul gets to Sonny’s room, Sonny just goes on and on, about putting this all behind them, he is sorry for being such a pain to Paul, he wants to get married right away, brings out the ring, is so happy to wear it again. He is just bubbling over, Paul looking increasingly uncomfortable, and finally saying he cannot do this, cannot marry him. Why not? Paul says Will is alive, I saw him, did not speak to him, but I saw him. Sonny gets mad, very angry, asks where, Paul says it is a bar called Suspicions (??). Paul will take him there. Nope…. Sonny gives the ring back to Paul, is going there himself, alone.

At that bar, the barkeep is straightening bar stools, cleaning up, place is closed, and again, doesn’t even look up when the door opens, Sonny comes in. He walks over, saying Will’s name. Will turns around…and the two do the soapy stare thing.

Theo is in the darkened bldg.., wearing a hoodie, holding a scanning device of some kind (it looks like a gun. He is using it on some device attached to the wall. Above him, a red light is flashing, which he does not notice. As he turns to leave, JJ’s voice is heard, telling him to freeze. Theo takes off running, JJ & Lani in hot pursuit. Kate is calling Theo to tell him she changed her mind, not to go to the place tonight, too dangerous. And the call is too late.

JJ & Lani chase Theo into the square, don’t see him, separate, and go in different directions. JJ spots Theo, orders him to stop, put down his weapon, drop it. Theo doesn’t, just stands there, the techie device in his hand (yes, it looks like a gun). JJ orders him to drop it, or he will shoot. Instead, Theo turns, the item still in his hand, JJ fires, Theo drops to the ground.

Paul says it is a bar called Suspicions (??).
It's Suspicious Minds, the name of an Elvis song.
We don’t see, but Steve tells Tripp how he lost his eye, that his best friend, Bo, did it, etc.
I liked the nod to history again, about how Steve and Bo fought over Britta, and Steve lost his eye.

Am guessing that is what they meant, tho they did not say. Sami did talk of how she & Lucas threw dirt on it, and all the while it was "EMPTY"

:angry:Kate: There will definitely be an uproar over the Theo shooting, and JJ will surely be tormented by guilt, but the real culprit is Ms. Blue Chunk who sent a college kid to do a job that required a trained professional. She also gets low marks for her prejudgment of Andre. Apparently, due process is as alien a concept to her as it is to the Salem legal system.

 Claire: Fie on her for getting all snippy with poor Theo. She needs a crash course on how Salem women deal with the mysterious comings and goings of their men. Maybe, she should have a talk with Marlena or Kayla.

:angry:Sonny: Another Salemite who's behaving badly. Instead of trying to understand Paul's difficult situation and being grateful for him overcoming his qualms about a resurrected Will, he abruptly hands him his ring and rushes off. It would serve the Big Boy right if resurrected Will said something like: "I didn't come back because I realized that you were an overbearing, self-important, insensitive jerk."

:) Rafe: He's a real miracle worker. He actually talked sense to Sami and she listened to him.

I feel like Will/Sonny should have been the ending.

The Theo scenes were dumb. A) Why was he doing this. B) Why was he doing this? C) Why was he using a scanner gun when there's certainly an app (especially in Salem) with the same functions? D) Why did JJ and Lani split up, when the entire town is so tiny?

Of course, the answer to A) and B) are to lead us to C). C) and D) were to provide cheap drama by being shot. (For Claire and Lani.)

And additionally...Claire and Theo are young, but their fighting seemed very forced. This does not bode well for Theo. Bye kid.

I'm not a Sonny/Paul fan, but wow, Sonny was unduly mean to Paul for a 24-hour secret.

I'm trying to think of a better way to bring Will back than "amnesia" but Days has done everything: Held prisoner (Bo, Kate), brainwashed (Hope, John/Roman) and/or amnesia (Tommy, Steve), illusion (Jack, Victor, Caroline, Roman, Marlena, Cassie, Maggie, Alice), secretly dying/recovering (Jack), ignoring the issue (Rolf, Kristen*), mistaken ID/twin (André/Tony), body switch (Peter, Steve). I'd suggest Time Travel but I'd hate to get Poirot angry. :)

LOL, Jason, you have me laughing out loud, getting strange looks from family. Ha.

I know this is not a spoiler thread but I AM going to say I read the interview with Ron C. about the Theo shooting, which is to have a lot of fallout, sort of an umbrella story, so am guessing only that perhaps Lani & JJ split, so that she could be totally shocked/upset to see that her brother was shot by her boyfriend.

Am also guessing that is why the show ended with that. As to Sonny, he was horrible to Paul. For a guy gushing away at Paul just 2 min. beforehand, he sure changed his tune within seconds. Which makes all his gushing love & marriage talk to Paul a lie.

And it is not as if Paul kept it from Sonny for weeks, egads. It was less than 24 hrs. Shame on Sonny.

If Paul would have just said “look I saw someone that looks a lot like Will at this bar downtown. Let’s go check it out,” then maybe Sonny would not have gotten upset with him. I mean it was just 24 hours. In any event, Sonny was nasty to Paul. Up to now I was a Sonny/Paul fan, but now I am changing my mind. I think Paul should leave Sonny since it is obvious Paul means very little to Sonny. Let Paul call that handsome bell hop from the hotel he dated for a little while. Anyone remember his name?

Thanks, Poirot.

JS, thanks for mentioning the bar was named after an Elvis song.

It was funny when Steve told Tripp he had a Phd in triangles.

I wonder why Andre was keeping secret he was trying to find out who was
going after DiMera? People in Salem need to learn keeping secrets is a bad idea.

I thought there was a lot of foreshadowing before Theo was shot. Lani had her gun
out when they went into Doug's Place. Everyone put their hands up. I thought they
were doing that so she wouldn't shoot them. I think it was a bad idea JJ had them go
into the bar with their guns out.

Sonny overreacted with Paul. Paul only saw Will the day before (?) Maybe Paul
can tell Sonny he didn't tell him at first because the doctor wanted him to
stay in the hospital.

I'm sure Theo was confused when JJ kept saying put the weapon down. It wasn't
a weapon and we know how Theo thinks.
A lot of relationships will probably
change after this.

I appreciate the summary and all the comments. It looks as though the gremlin in my house was at it today. I got only nine minutes of the show recorded. I'm pretty sure it will be the first nine minutes. Too bad I can't pick and choose the nine minutes I'd actually like to watch, based on the summary. I won't miss watching Sami get impatient and rant. Or Claire ranting at Theo. Or JJ and Lani finding a bed in which to celebrate. Or Sonny being nasty to Paul. Or Theo getting shot. All right then, it looks like I'm going to be okay after all.

A lot of lazy writing. Could have had a better dialogue and scene with Paul and Sonny. It didn’t feel right. Very contrived and not written from the heart. Unlike the writing in the 80’s and 90’s the writing is more for dramatic effect and very superficial. No dialogue or feeling that there is real love between 2 people. Very wishy washy. It’s sad because Sonny was written so differently when he was on the show the first time. He was a sincere, solid, genuine person. Since being back this second time he has been acting like a totally different person.

Claire and Theo are a joke. I just can’t take them seriously. Young couples are not written with any substance. Young Jack and Jennifer, young Bo and Hope. The writing for them made you want to see them every day. They were beautifully written and acted. Today we have Claire’s whining and it’s getting so old

All right then, it looks like I'm going to be okay after all.
:rotfl::rotfl:

It'd be a treat to see Derrick again, though personally I hope Paul meets Andrew Donovan on his way home from Memphis.

Thanks for the summary. Nothing I can really add here that hasn't already been written. I think it was a great show all-around, and a good cliffhanger. Hopefully the momentum continues into next week.

I'm sure the story is going to be really good but I do not see any way JJ can be blamed for this! Theo ran from the police! Lani can confirm that. And what he was holding did look like a gun! JJ had a split second to decide "do I want to die?" and no he doesn't!

Sonny was awful to Paul!! Paul didn't say when he saw Will!! Could have been 10 minutes ago!! And really "my husband is back so you mean nothing to me. Here's your ring". I hate that. Paul was his first love. They had a history just like Sonny and Will.
