11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.

Somber times.

Busy Saturday for me. Off to be with stepmom. After a month being away, she has many errands. Next weekend youngest grandson, her 8th great-grandchild, will be in town for Thanksgiving, so 2 weekends in a row will be spent with her.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

Saluting our awesome hero Vets!

Insomnia means I am about to finally be sleepy. The pain is either better or I a m getting used to it.

We just watched the Great Escape and teaching the kiddos about our WW2 veterans. For once we are having a quiet Veterans day because I am not up to either fixing a big meal or attending a celebration. Sure feel like I am letting my family down.

Wishing each of you a blessed day.

Robin: what a joy and blessing you are to your stepmother. She would be so isolated without your generosity. Hope you are blessed too today.

Good morning. I was up way too early, then went back to sleep for nearly an hour, got a phone call and ended up with breakfast later than I'd choose, again. Looks like most of you are either busy or maybe just taking it easy today. I hope it is a good day for everyone. Thanks going out to YPG and any other veterans we have here, and elsewhere. I get sentimental for my dad and many other relatives, who served from various generations.

Robin, your stepmother will be so glad to see you. Have a good day.

Squirrel, I can't recall whether you were flying out today or when. Wishing you a great trip and visit!

Noel, have a good nap. I'm so glad to hear you are feeling some measure of relief. Please don't worry about letting your family down. They will learn to appreciate you more if you have times when you are unable to make everything perfect for them.

Another overcast, breezy, chilly day here. I'm not getting around much but would like to get some paperwork done. When I went to Wal-Mart day before yesterday, I was surprised at how crowded it was. It was how it used to be the week before Christmas. My niece went late yesterday and said it was unbearable. She also said our county roads were crawling with vehicles. This is the second weekend of deer season. The hunters will be all over the place on weekends until the first of the year. One more good reason for me to stay inside on weekends. I hardly ever see any of them.

Thank you to all of our veterans here.

Good morning everyone. Another cold day here. I'm not going out for the parade this morning.

OC - I leave very early Monday morning.

For your morning laugh, I'm copying here what I posted on Facebook last night.

I looked at my weather station in the living room to check the outdoor temperature, and it displayed 82°!?!? I went out on the porch to check the sensor, and found the neighbor's cat sleeping on top of it.

I got the sensor out from under him, and now it shows 17°. (I gave Midnight an old blanket to cuddle in until the neighbor gets home from work to let him in.)

OC: thanks for your wise council. Glad you are staying at home and enjoying your weekend. Hope you sleep well.

Squirrel: thanks for our morning laugh. You must be excited to leave early Monday. Hope your weekend is restful.

TB: craft fairs are such fun. Hope the rest of your weekend is fun too.

My nap was postponed for a talk with my son. He thinks I am angry with him because I fell holding up the garage door last week so it wouldn't crush him. Somehow I am not persuading him that it is unwise to stand on the seat of your bike and try holding up the steel garage door as exercise. He wants to build muscles but doesn't see the danger because he saw it on tv and no one was hurt. Now it's Hubs' turn to try and I am going to try to relax/nap.

Hi all, more snow overnight, was grey and gloomy this a.m. but the sun finally showed up around noon. Ran a couple of errands this a.m. but had planned them yesterday, forgetting banks and Post office would be closed today. Should have done it all yesterday. Major state highways plowed, but nothing else, so was just driving cautiously and slowly. Not even parking lots were plowed. LOL

Noel, please tell your son, if your haven't already, that TV is staged, is fake. That we would not even see ropes/chains holding up a garage door......and also that TV would never show you someone being injured......

On our soap, Drake Hogestyn (John) was injured severely when the door he was supposed to easily break thru was not the "fake" one that would come apart easily, but a real one. Drake got a severe head injury, was in hospital several months, and then home recuperation & rehab. It took 8 mos. before he could return to work, and even then, he is not seen often, his time is limited, and there is absolutely NO physical "hero" stuff.

A cloudy day here. I did my Sat errands. I came home and walked Goldie.
TV man has about 30 minutes to get here during appt time. I'm going
to Sunday school supper this evening.

Noel, I wondered how you hurt yourself. You can get muscles putting the
door up and down, but not on a bike. Maybe you can buy your son some weights.

robin, enjoy your time with your step mom.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Sat.

Thanks for answering my question, Squirrel. I don't mean to grill you but are you going to attend the wedding for which you made all the cookies? Oh, I got the biggest kick out of your story about the cat sitting on the sensor! I must remember to tell my niece about that. She is such a cat lover.

Noel, it is so surprising sometimes to learn what kids are thinking. It's good you had a walk and a talk with your son, although it does sound like it may be time for dad's input. What you said about you son reminded me of how my oldest son was, as a child. He couldn't seem to perceive the dangerous element to his actions until after the fact, and not always then. Like when he stepped off into the deep end of a swimming pool deliberately and had to be pulled out. His response was, "I thought I could swim but I couldn't."

Kat, I hope your tv repairman got there during appointment time. Enjoy the SS supper.

Poirot, sorry you missed on some of your errands. Our banks and post offices are never open on Saturdays. I can hardly believe you are already coping with snowy driving conditions regularly.

Tropical Breeze, I hope you are enjoying your day, even if you didn't find things you wanted at the crafts fair.

Looks like I've opted to while away the day. The husband has been sleeping so much during the day lately, I keep thinking I should be getting more done while he sleeps but it seems to have the opposite effect on me. I find myself sitting down and savoring the absence of interruptions. Anyway, I figure I need to rest up for the 8 p.m.-midnight "busy time."

TV man got delayed at previous appt. No one is coming until Wed
afternoon. They had to work around my time. Lucky for me,
I can watch TV.

Hi all. A beautiful day here. We went to the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the cenitaph downtown, placed our poppy on the wreaths surrounding the cenitaph and quietly said our thanks to the veterans, active members and those of our allies then ended it with Oh Canada then God Save The Queen. After that went and tipped a pint to them all.

We have friends coming for dinner tonight as we couldn't make it to their wedding so I'm making bread right now for garlic toast, finishing off a 3 layered chocolate cake with homemade chocolate pudding in between the layers and about to make an heirloom tomato and boccocini salad. My husband has made a roasted red pepper and tomato soup and a lasagna.

Lest we forget!!

Poirot: thanks for your wise guidance. I like your wording better than mine so am going to explain it to him your way. Thanks for reminding me, too, of the example of Drake Hogestyn (John). Hope you are safely home now and enjoying your new place.

OC: I appreciate you sharing your experience with your son when he was young. You are right that it is sometimes difficult to understand their fixed point of view. Wishing you strength for your night and a peaceful relaxing Sunday.

Kat: sorry your repairman rescheduled but glad you can still watch tv. Enjoy your Sunday School supper. And a good idea, but my son has kiddo weights to be "just like Daddy".

Muzza: your meals make me hungry everyone! Thank you for honoring your veterans in such a lovely way. Wishing you a lovely Sunday.

forgetting banks and Post office would be closed today.

Yep, that one captured stepmom and I today too. We did get some errands run. Then we headed to Applebee's for our lunch. Little did we know that Applebee's does a HUGE Veterans Day celebration. Stepmom got a free lunch as the widow of a veteran, and the mother of two Marines. We said we'd share a table with other Veterans, so we had a meal with John and Theresa. John a Vietnam war vet and his wife. It was nice eating with them.

Next weekend with the baby, we get to do all the banking and post office trips.

Muzza, was the pint warm? :drunk:

Regarding kids exercising, my son used to climb a door frame like a monkey. I put up one of those doorway chin-up bars for him. Last fall, I saw him walk up to a 4-wheel drive pickup, and step up into the bed, hands-free.   Wish I could do that!

A. Guy, my youngest son did that door walk thing too. (Don't tell anybody but I also did that, when I was a kid). I also bought one of those chin-up bars for a doorway. Your son must have long legs, to be able to step up on the pickup bed like that!
