While we got a plausible explanation for Will being alive, lucky for Susan, he came with no memories. So, she was able to provide a background for him that was believable. Now, I don't think Will is stupid, but for 2 years, he never asked about baby pictures, or talked to anyone about current events, etc. And I just won't believe that bar did not have a TV. LOL

But, now Will is back in Salem, seeing a lot of strangers who claim they are his family, his friends, etc.

Question is.........Will he get his memory back, if so, how long will it take?

Or......will he not get it back at all, and just mesh into the Salem population?

Oh, after a long period of time, most likely Will will get his memory back. Days, in the past, has used these mechanisms (if memory serves me well):

Marlena, the super shrink, hypnotized him slowly bringing forth pieces of memory until it is restored.

A fall, bump on the head, or accident miraculously restores his memory.

The shock of being confronted with a dark truth of his past (his or family, read Sami) causes enough psychological trauma to restore his memory.

Nightmares or flashbacks haunt him until a memory breakthrough occurs.

Some if Caroline's homemade clam chowder suddenly heals him.

Otherwise, Will will be singing the "Christmas Blues"? A definite possibility Robin.

Good night I hope he gets it back soon. I was hoping he'd have a flash with Arianna and at least remember her birth or something, but no.

I definitely want it to come back in a big, soapy (and those who know me well know how I despise that term) way; like say, he goes to bed with Paul and remembers everything during that. Or Ari's life is in danger.

I could also accept if he recalled during the Horton Tree Ceremony.

Will regaining his memory one way or another is a virtual certainly. After all, he's in better shape than John Black during his RoboJohn phase. When Rolf downloaded John's memory onto a computer disc, John not only lost all recollections of his old life, but his personality changed. Instead of Marlena's beloved husband, he morphed into the eccentric RoboJohn who blurted out various inappropriate things, locked up crooked customs official Paul Hollingsworth in a DiMansion basement cell, engaged in a war on the piers with the Kiriakises, and had an affair with the deranged Ava Vitali. John eventually did a stint at some Swiss clinic and regained his memories in fits and starts until he was his old self. Since Will retains his old personality, he's already way ahead of RoboJohn in regaining his old life.

But John still doesn't remember squat before he was turned into Roman. And all her indigence with Sami going overboard trying to get Will to remember his life, Marlena is forgetting about the elephant in the room. And just when will this little tidbit be revealed to Will? Furthermore, Sami has had to deal with losing more family members to fake deaths multiple times than pretty much any other character on the show. So it makes sense that she would take extreme measures in trying to get Will to remember.

She admitted yesterday she went too far. That it was a mistake.

John has mentioned having dealt with his memory loss to Marlena, and how he just went on with his life. With John, though, his loss was done on purpose, through the Frankenstein methods employed by Dr. Rolf. His own were deleted, and he was given Roman's. When real Roman came back, John was never able to get at the truth. He was told things, which in the end, turned out to be false. Stefano really did a number on him way back. He has been son of Daphne, Colleen, that Yo Yo ling, or whatever his name was. Different writers kept changing it.

Will is a different situation. We really don't know if his amnesia is due to the trauma of being strangled, or from the drug administered by Rolf. But at least with him, his past is well known. It is a shame his mother is only concerned with him remembering HER, whereas it seems others seem willing to let time do it's work.

I would love for John to play into this storyline prominently given his amnesia, memory loss and for the simple fact that for intents and purposes, John is one of Will's grandfathers, period, in my opinion. I would love to see this being played out and could certainly bring some drama with Paul being John's son, but I would just like to see John as a member of the family regardless of blood.

Plus, John could add so much empathy and understanding that even if it was a shoulder, a heart to heart sometime.

The point I was making is that Rolf was the one who did the brainwashing on both John and Will. John still hasn't regained his memory and Marlena didn't help him, so I think they are putting too much faith in her. That is my opinion based on what we have watched.

Sami told Rafe that she was willing to risk him hating her in order for him to get his memory back for himself and his daughter. I don't think others are willing to let time do its work, as they all believed that seeing Arianna, or one of them, might do it. Since it hasn't, they are forced to hope that time will do it.

Sami does everything to the extreme. She's exhausting.

Oh I agree. Most of these characters have gone to the extreme on several occasions.

Rolf did not brainwash Will, whose memory loss could be due to the near death experience, or the drug given to bring his breathing and heart rate back to normal. So Rolf could possibly be responsible, but he did not brainwash Will.

Crazy Susan sure seemed to imply that Will doesn't remember due to Rolf's intervention, which to me, sounds a lot like brainwashing. Since he has a history of that, it seems more possible than just because he was strangled. Susan was deliberately not telling everything.

With Susan, one has to consider the source. She seems to be "one brick shy of a load," "not the brightest bulb or the sharpest knife...etc..." I think she suffers from Paul Revere Syndrome. (a little light in the belfry)

Susan only said that she and Rolf were keeping an eye on Will, and when Ben left, they went in, found Will still breathing. So, Rolf gave him the injection to slow his heart rate/pulse, etc. to make it look as though he was deceased. That same drug was used on Steve years ago, when he was in the hospital, supposedly died, but before his coffin was put in the ground, it was switched for one full of rocks.

In this instance, Ben returned to his apt. with the burlap bag, put Will inside and carted him to Will's own apt. where he left him.

Rolf then in full surgical garb including face mask, was at the morgue when Will's body arrived. He gave him the shot, and as we saw, Will immediately woke up, sat up. Susan took him to Memphis, and told him all the malarkey about being EJ. He certainly had none of EJ's memories, only knew what Susan had told him.

NO brainwashing occurred by Rolf. Susan has admitted that she told Will all the stories about being EJ, etc. and that she was his mother. She also told Roger (the Elvis impersonator she was living with) and he knew the truth as well.

If Will had been brainwashed, he would "remember" life as EJ, he does not. Had no idea who the heck Sami was, certainly not his mother, and then was surprised when he heard the name, as this was who Susan said was his ex-wife.

Ok, I know this is a soap fantasy and we have to stretch our imagination however. So Rolf and Susan gave Will the injection in the hospital morgue and I’m guessing the two of them carted Will off to wherever. Wouldn’t the hospital coroner wonder where the body was and issue a search? Another thing, just who did the mortician embalm?

On another note, Sami was a horrible parent to Will all through his childhood. She and her DiMera cronies put him through a hellish near death experience, so why in the world would he want to remember her?

But, but, ....we are not supposed to be asking about funeral directors? (Coroner thought funeral director already had picked up the body)
Will woke up, put clothes on and the 3 skedaddled out of the morgue. Heck, the way bodies are constantly showing up & disappearing from that place, no one asks questions at all.

Rafe said the casket was empty when dug up. And folks here wondered how that happened. Shall we all figure the funeral director was paid off to say nothing? Or was he too embarassed that he did not have a body, so said nothing? LOL.
