Yayyyy, he-e-e-e's BACK. Yes the ever smart, on the ball, ex-FBI agent, present day Detective Rafael Hernandez. His radar is working just fine. He comes upon Gabi & Nick kissing on the park bench. Gabi spots him, starts babbling, but he really says nothing, staring at Nick, who offers to leave. Gabi says no, and chides Rafe about lecturing or hitting Nick again. Nope, Rafe came to apologize to Gabi for what he said earlier, and to apologize to Nick for their fight. Awww, Gabi knew he would understand, big hug. He looks over her shoulder at Nick, who talks of "when he got back". Rafe says, oh, from New York, right. Yeh, replies Nick. (Love the expressions on Rafe's face).
Later, she sits with Nick, talking about this, a few other things, and she mentions the custody thing that Will brought up. Maybe a good idea to look into that, she will talk to Justin. Nick doesn't think that is a good idea, being he is Sonny's father. Conflict of interest? He tells her he will think about someone else for her.
Meanwhile, Will has gone to visit EJ, tells him about his argument with Gabi, and how, despite EJ's warning, he brought up the custody thing, and Gabi freaked out. EJ is pretty calm, tells Nick not to worry, he knows the entire situation, and will work on it for him.
Abby has come to do art lessons with Sami, who yammers a bit about different artists, how her wedding is coming along fine, but then gets down to brass tacks, asking Abby what she thinks of Nick herself. Abby believes in second chances, figures everyone deserves one. Sami wonders tho, if Abby ever thought someone was o.k., but for some reason, can't put your finger on it...something is off. Abby says yes, but still thinks all is fine with Nick.
Now Abby meets up with said Nick, who wants the name of a good lawyer, even mentioning the one who helped JJ. No, not for himself, someone else. She is curious, but he is not forthcoming. He does say something about evrything going the way he wants, and she notes that when he said that, he seemed rather scary. He denies that, but asks her to let him know Aiden's last name when she remembers it.
Rafe bumps into Sami, and they mention Nick. He says he had to apologize for punching him, Sami would have paid money to see that, how come she has not heard of this. Rafe tells her she would have if she had come to meet him instead of sending her fiance'. She did not send EJ, he just thought it better as she was upset, had the fight with Gabi, & might have shot off her mouth more than she should. Rafe is quick, and knows something is going on, that Nick seems to be holding something over them all, and he wants to know what it is. Sami is evasive, leaves, making sure she is warning him to just leave it all alone.
We see veraiious scenes of a photo of EJ & Abby in a passionate embrace. blown up to a 8x10, being inserted into a large green envelope, which is slipped under the door to the vestibule. And although EJ is home, walking between the study and the foyer, on the phone, reading a file....like other Salemites, he suffers from lack of peripheral vision, and never notices it, even when he is just 2 feet away.
JJ is in Horton Square, spots Paige, calls out to her, but she ignores him. He chases after her, she doesn't want to talk to him, he stood her up. No, he sent a text. She never got it, he shows her the copy on his phone, she realizes MaryBeth must have deleted it when she was getting drinks. They decide to hang out, he is going home, she goes along. JJ expects his mom & Abby to be home, they are not, he apologizes, offers to go somewhere. Paige doesn't mind. He gets a text about Daniel's hearing tomorrow, and gets very upset, ends up telling Paige the whole sordid story of "this girl" (Theresa), them doing drugs, her overdosing, he calling Daniel, and how Daniel covered for him. Even though he did all these terrible things to Daniel, wanting him gone from his mother's life, as he could not handle her being with anyone after his dad died. Paige realizes that Daniel is now a hero to JJ, tells him Daniel holds no grudge, and if this girl did try causing him trouble, it is on her, and no one else. She gets a call & has to go home.
Aiden & Hope sit trying to figure out what to do now that they cannot get the Salem Inn ballroom for the gala. Aiden says never give up. Hope gets a call, seems Giselle VanHopper, who always donates wonderful artwork for an auction from her collection, has decided not to do so this year. That auction usually raises half the proceeds. They decide to waylay her, as she comes from her hairdresser appt. When she comes out, they approach, introduce themselves, and learn the very wealthy, upper class Mrs. VanHopper is recently divorced, the hubby taking up with a 25 yr. old. and she just won't appear at a social event like this without a date, and if she cannot watch the bidding, it is no fun donating. Aiden & Hope talk privately he volunteers himself. But when he offers to be Giselle's escort, she refuses, saying something about there IS a way as she looks significantly at Hope.
(so this is all too funny now). Aiden goes to Hope, telling her what Giselle said, Hope is refusing, everyone in town knows she is not gay, and she is working the gala. Aiden convinces her so now Hope goes to Giselle, mentions her husband is out of town, maybe they can go together.
Roman has arrived, is chatting up Aiden about a case. Giselle lets Hope know she wants her to help get Roman to take her to the gala. Now Hope goes over to Roman, who starts going on and on about that barracuda Giselle, how she treated her husband who finally had enough, got rid of her. Roman notes that he thinks she is after him now, why else would she want to volunteer for his clean up crew. LOL. He wants no part of her, keep her away from him. He takes off. Aiden is laughing at the idea that Giselle is interested in Roman, but Hope assures him that Roman is not wrong. That is exactly who Giselle wants to escort her.
Rafe sits at his computer, using his search engine, looking for Nick Fallon - New York. Whatever comes up causes a frown.
EJ sits on the sofa, reading a file, as Sami comes in, evidently from the back way. She stands behind him, arms around his shoulders, kissing him on the neck, telling of running into Rafe, and sidestepping his questions. She sees the green envelope, asks what is that. EJ has no idea. She thinks perhaps it is about the wedding, goes to pick it up, opens the envelope.

That's great ! Now, let's move this along, shall we ? Because if I see Gabi so gullible and mean (how horrible is she to Will and Sonny, especially poor Will, who has to walk on eggshells when it comes to this stupid girl) one more time, and Sami of all people throwing stones, I am going to scream !
