I know I haven't been on too much lately, things in my life have been hectic...
Friends who have been injured, one who is going through a horrible divorce, another diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, my Dad was hospitalized again but is doing better.

Yesterday was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
My Sister, lives in California. I got a phone call yesterday and she is in the hospital awaiting open-heart surgery tomorrow morning.
They will be replacing a heart valve and having an aorta extension at the same time.
She had open heart surgery when she was about 6 or 7, which was quite experimental at the time (back in the 60's). The surgery that she will have tomorrow is related to her childhood surgery.

I've had many, many family members who have had bypasses and stents, this one is so much more complicated than that, and add in the fact that they are are not 100% on what they will find once they are in there. I am so scared, even though I know she is in good hands and she has tremendous faith.

I am keeping all of the family here in the Midwest updated, it's a bit exhausting as we are legion for we are many :) If you have a moment to pray for Lesly it would surely be appreciated.

Thank you my SS Family

Hey Mel, hope everything goes ok, for your sister, friends and family and they find the strength to get through this, wherever that may come from. sending you and all in your life good thoughts and positive vibes. Mke sure to take some time for yourself too, though. As hard as it may be to pull away and do this, you need to for your own well being and so you can be there for everyone.

It's no longer experimental now because there are more adults living with heart defects than children. Medical technology like your sister's childhood surgery has made that possible for her and many others. It is the #1 birth defect though most people don't know that. So, treating these defects has become very commonplace.

I hope she is being treated by a great medical center that specializes in treating adults with heart defects. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your sister and all your loved ones. Please do keep us posted.

I truly appreciate y'alls kind thoughts. They had her up and around the day after surgery, from her bed to a chair.
This is still all they are doing for now but she may be venturing further soon.
She is still in a great deal of pain and hasn't wanted any visitors, but the staff say she is doing great!
Much better than they expected.
She will be in the hospital for at least one more week.

Thank you again :)
