Days of Our Lives
Tuesday, September 2, 2014

Not much going on in Salem today. Nicole sees Daniel, and supposedly accidentally drops the file folder she is carrying. He helps her pick it up, sees a paper indicating she has been offered a job in Santa Fe, asks when she is moving to New Mexico. She asks if he would miss her. Nope. She lets him know she has not accepted the job offer, gets ticked a bit that he is still giving her the cold shoulder, and lets him know she is staying put.
At the hospital, in John's room, Kayla is examining him, telling Marlena & Eric that really, long term care facility is where he belongs now. Marlena doesn't want to see that, will pay to keep John there. But Kayla notes that some test on his brain, with high score being 15, indicates his results are lowering constantly. From 11, to 7 now. She will do the test again in a few minutes. Marlena & Eric wait outside.
They talk, wondering where Brady is., figures he knows all this, just doesn't want to deal with it, but will be along in a while. Marlena knows Eric is planning to leave for either Colorado or South Africa, asks Eric to put it off for a while. He says he will stay if she needs him. Oh, she does need him, wants him to stay permanently. He agrees. She hates the waiting, he suggests she go for a walk, he will stay, will text her. Marlena leaves, Nicole arrives. She drops her file folder right in front of Eric, who is on the phone, he picks it up, hands it to her, walks away. She waits til he is off the phone, returning, again drops the folder. This time Eric sees the job offer, figures she is leaving town. Says he was going to go, too. He finally realizes she dropped that paper in front of him on purpose, more manipulating, more schemes. He tells her to go, because no one will miss her, and he leaves.

Will & Sonny have their big fight, but Sonny has his say. He is sorry, yes he should have told Will about asking his uncle, but Will got the job on his own merit. Sonny talks of how Will recited all these things that Sonny did, but Sonny says none of them would have been accomplished without other people helping him. Whether they pushed him to do something, suggested something. Even his mom, who encouraged him about coming out, and how his parents lent him the money to first go into his own business. He then shows Will, on the computer, his first blog, which was not all that good, how Sonny said it needed work, (being diplomatic) and how Will redid it, and it was so good. Will realizes he was being too harsh, assures Sonny that though he was angry at him, he never stopped loving him. He sheepishly recalls the "glorified barrista" remark, while Sonny recalls saying Will was just trying to get back at the DiMeras and his mom. Will, though, says there is truth in that. They kiss, and guess the sofa is getting a workout, as we leave them.

Kristen is in her room, wearing her hooker outfit...skimpy satin flowered short robe, and black stockings....answers a knock at the door. Tis Brady, who has come to warn her or something. He makes big talk about hating the sight of her, causing Kristen to just smile and smirk. He tells her to go put some clothes on, she will only if they can talk. Oh, Brady will talk, she will listen. Kristen returns wearing a low cut orange tight fitting dress. and is trying to do all these sexy poses and smiles. But Brady stays his distance, warning her to stay away from his father. She tries telling him he is not at fault about his dad, but he knows he is. Knocking at the door, there is Marlena. Brady gives Kristen the parting shot again, about staying away from his father, if she comes within 100 ft. she goes back to jail. Brady leaves, it is Marlena's turn. Kristen does all the smiling and smirking as Marlena talks. (NBC broke in with a news bulletin so missed some of this). Marlena leaves, telling Kristen that if she comes near John, she will kill her. Kristen tells her she did not come to Salem to hurt John, but to help him.

Theresa is napping on her sofa, dreaming she is arrested for hitting John. She wakes u p to knocking, it is Anne who comes with champagne to celebrate the destruction of Abigail's reputation, and thus Mama Jen is mortified as well. Anne can see Theresa seems upset, and Theresa finally tells her how today they are moving John to the long care facility, so she doesn't want to be anywhere near the hospital. She goes on about liking Brady so much, speaking of his smile, his laugh. Knock at the door, a messenger with an envelope containing her annulment papers. She is even more unhappy, and leaves to take Brady's copy to him.

Kayla comes into Daniel's office, wants him to see something, and now. He is leaving. Nope, he has to look at this first. When she got this, she e-mailed it to him right away. He reads it after printing it out. both agree this is amazing, and wonder if it will work. Daniel notes that if it does, it will change everything.

Theresa is leaving a note for Brady at the K-mansion, when he comes in. She tells him about the papers arriving, she was leaving a note, and starts to hurry out. He grabs her, no words, kisses her, and before you know it, they are in bed, doing the horizontal mambo.

Well after just reading this, I think my brain function dropped a few points. Not sure I could take watching this. Was this supposed to be the Friday episode?? The one that would have me anxious for tomorrow's show???

Poirot... I doubt that I can express deeply enough my admiration for your watching and writing up this show day after day after day, but thank you so very much for doing this.:hug::clap:

causing Kristen to just smile and smirk

I must admit, I'm very, very disappointed that Kristen is back in town. I would have liked her to stay away, I thought she had already outstayed her welcome. Alas, she's back. And I hate every scene she's in. Because of the storyline, of course : her going after Brady still, wanting to save him and apparently wanting to "save John" also. And with TIIC, she probably will. I want John to wake up, mind you, but not "thanks to Kristen".

Anyway, to get back on the quote, I'm sorry, but that smile, that smirk, is getting not only annoying, but distracting. It makes me think of the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland. I find myself thinking is this really how the actress is asked to play each and every scene ? If it is, no surprise, as the writers are apparently very good at creating very one dimensional characters. If not, and that's the actress' doing, kind of a tic if you will, then she's not doing herself any favor.

No offense, but always smirking like that is, again, very distracting. Instead of seeing and hearing what's being said, all I see is the smirk. Enough, already, with the "cat that swallowed the canary" look.

The rest of the show was O.K. for me, nothing much there, really, surprise, surprise. Except Theresa and Brady. Yep, bleach for the eyes and the brain, please !

Also, I was so pleased to see Nicole (these days, she's barely on), but then, the writers transform her yet again into a pathetic woman. Seriously, writers ? What are you ? In first grade ? Nothing more to write for this character ? Just stupid attempts to be noticed, that fail, of course, only to have Daniel and Eric hurt her feelings even deeper ? Eric saying nobody would miss her was downright cruel. So... disappointing and frustrating indeed.

I guess when Eric left the priesthood because of his, well, because of his feelings, the feelings that left were compassion, kindness, understanding.

I agree with TheWriter, his comments today to Nicole were beyond harsh and cruel, as were Daniel's (well, I've just read the comments, the show isn't on yet in my time zone) But still, why would Nicole stay?? In the real world, not the Salem world, why would Nicole stay?

But still, why would Nicole stay?? In the real world, not the Salem world, why would Nicole stay?

Agree ! Thus the pathetic, right ? And in the real world, even in Soapland, why is Nicole presented to us like someone who sets herself up for cruelty ? She keeps trying and trying to reach Eric, the guy doesn't want any of it, so I keep wanting to yell at the TV : "Walk away, woman, never look back ! Stop trying and find a backbone !" Enough with the desperate women, please !

And today... As much as I hate, hate, hate Kristen, Brady calls her the b word (this word offends me to no end, it should not be used, period) in the beginning and Kristen doesn't even blink, like it's normal, no harm, no foul. Nope, she's the b word all right, but still, she's sooooooo happy to see Brady. She keeps smiling and smirking away.

Yup, those things I guess can make for a cliffhanger, but it still isn't as exciting a cliffhanger as many episodes from the past that we've seen. Even the Will-Sonny argument cliffhanger from last week had me more on the edge of my seat, and I'm not a big fan of that contrived storyline.

Anywhere but Soapland, Nicole would take the Santa Fe job offer and get out of Salem, where every day is open season on Ms. Walker for the sanctimonious and self-righteous. What a contrast to Kristen who lets all sorts of invective just roll over her back and keeps on smirking. As for Will and Sonny, it was good to see the end of the would-be writer's bad imitation of his mother at her worst. For a while it looked as if Days was aiming to be the first soap to have a gay marriage end in divorce.
Plus, Brady and Theresa rolling around in bed together, like a couple of pigs in the mud.
Sorry, JS, but the fellows pictured below strenuously object to being compared to Brady and Jeannie T.

So, we're supposed to believe that Theresa deeply cares about Brady and that she swooned over his great smile and his laugh that made you "want to follow him down the street" and that she wasn't in the least bit after him for his wallet and the cash and credit cards in that wallet.

Remember the night Brady passed out in her apartment and she was about to take cash from his wallet but decided against it because she was in it for the bigger payoff. Has she (or the writers for that matter) forgotten that the only reason John was there that night she smashed his head in was because she called him over to blackmail him. She offered to leave Brady in exchange for a nice, big check. Those crocodile tears she shed today were a waste of bodily fluid.

Poor, pathetic Brady is either addicted to sex, or denying that he's still attracted to Kristen. There's no doubt his confrontation with her got him all hot and bothered and Theresa was his stand-in. And Kristen has done a lot of horrible things, but the only person responsible for how nasty Brady has treated John the last year is Brady.

It was interesting to hear Nicole and Daniel both say "out of the blue" today.

Did Nicole wear That dress because she was going to drop the folder a few times?
I think Eric was right she was being manipulative.

After Brady and Theresa got married, they didn't "do it" Today after
they got their annulment papers they did. I think the people in
Salem have some things backwards. I wonder if Brady is going to regret "doing it"

I laughed when Kristen told Marlena she wasn't going to hurt John, but
was going to save him. What's Daniel going to do if she does :)

As others have mentioned, I wonder why Nicole stays in Salem when she is treated so shabbily by everyone. Daniel's anger to Nicole is especially senseless. While I could understand him keeping his distance from her, there is no reason for him to give her the cold shoulder. Eric is hopeless and I wish she would just stay away from him now.

Was this the first time Brady and Theresa had sex when they were both sober? Brady is not handling his run-ins with Kristen too well.

As usual, Anne is always fun to have around. In her own way, she came over to celebrate with Theresa about Abigail and Jennifer, but then tried to cheer her up when Theresa got upset about receiving the annulment papers. I also liked her snarky attitude with Daniel when he handed her the paperwork for Paige's internship at the hospital. Paige will probably not need Stanford after she interns at University Hospital for six months, as she will have her M.D. after that time:sarcasm:.

Jen67, you are so right about Paige's education going ballistic!! I think that after a few months at Salem U and as a glorified candy striper at the hospital, she'll become a brain surgeon and duplicate all the medical efforts of Dr. Dan. She may even be the one to fix her mother's nodes...of course, that could be risky for Eve!!

I'm really irritated by the way they're having Daniel treat Nicole. It doesn't make sense and it's out of character. What happened to "I'm not your friend just when it's convenient." And come on, Daniel was able to immediately forgive Brady for beating him up, trying to mess up things for JJ and getting involved in John almost being killed, ccould immediately forgive JJ for doing all sorts of illegal and harmful things to him, but can't forgive Nicole for a lie that didn't bother him at the time?

The way it's written, it's like the writers expected the audience to see Nicole as this horrible villain who is obsessed with Eric, like she's parallel to Kristen, and we're supposed to be rooting for Eric and Daniel when they won't give her the time of day. The problem is that I--and from my informal scanning of other message boards as well as reading this one, the majority of viewers--don't buy it. I also still feel like the writers know that a LOT of viewers either loved Daniel and Nicole's friendship or were rooting for them to become more than friends, and think that if they make Daniel so angry at her we'll decide that their friendship wasn't so great and start rooting for him and Jen. It all has to do with this fantasy TPTB have that Daniel and Jen are the best couple and Nicole is just an interloper.

Anyway, I wish Eric WOULD go to Colorado, or at least go play the part of a sheriff in some stereotypical Western movie so he can fill his need to tell people to get out of town without bothering Nicole anymore. I also wish Nicole would realize how not worth it Eric is and choose not to pay any more attention to him, period.

Thanks for the summary. I may delete the show without watching the recording since it sounds pretty much non eventful.

How can Daniel continuously forgive & get back together with Jennifer with all that she has done & said yet have such a hard headed obstinance with not forgiving Nicole? Maybe underneath it all he cares more about Nicole than he is willing to admit.
