I thought some of you might have fun with this. In the upper right hand corner of the page, you type in a zip code and it gives you an idea of what the lifestyle there is like. This is what it had to say about my town:

"Most of us are settled, married couples who own single family houses or mobile homes. You can find us in the more rural outskirts of metropolitan areas, mostly in the South. We work in mining, agriculture, manufacturing, health care, retail, and construction. We shop at Walmart and the convenience store; we look for bargains and aren't particularly concerned about brands or quality. Slow to adapt to technology, we get most of our information from satellite TV. We enjoy life in the country, so we fish; hunt; own pets; work on our vehicles; listen to country music; and read fishing, hunting, and home service magazines. For a treat, we'll eat out at a low-cost family restaurant or a drive-in."

So not true, but I got a laugh, anyway. Figured you all might, too. I'm interested in seeing what it has to say about where you all live.

Probably just my slow internet but I had trouble loading everything on the page but I did get enough to read some. It seems they lump my area together, as including Appalachia, Texas, and Arkansas, "and other places." I've never learned to copy and paste with this MacBook, but the site puts me in a "Rooted Rural" area, which is true. Some of the other things were similar to yours, Harley. They had us a little more "backward" than we actually are. An interesting and fun read. I also would be interested in what others find about their areas.

Very interesting site. Thanks!

Mine was very close to how we are.

We're young, mobile, well educated, and well employed. We're more likely to rent in low density, urban neighborhoods throughout the county. Long hours spent working and online are balanced with regular visits to the gym. We go online for professional networking, online dating, and blogging. Cell phones are essential so we can text and always stay connected. Cognizant of the environment, we buy natural, organic, or environmentally-friendly products; Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are favorite grocery stores. We're politically liberal and donate to NPR and PBS. To keep life fresh, we're eager to learn new things and to save time, we contract for house cleaning services. Music and the fine arts are major interests; we listen to music, visit art galleries, and make art at home.
