Days of Our Lives
Monday, December 22, 2014

With the holidays upon us, Days must figure folks are busy with various things, and so Salemites are not doing much at all.
Will comes rushing into the apartment, worried about Arianna, who is fine, Sonny is getting her dressed so they can take her to visit her mother. The two men argue, Will is angry, so is Sonny...been 2 mos. since Gabi last saw Arianna. Will finally agrees they should go.
Over at the jail, Rafe is visiting with Gabi, learns she has not seen Ari yet, is ticked off, is going to get on Will's case. Gabi begs him not to do so. He finally agrees, tells her what has been going on with him (Jordan now with Chad), they remember a past Christmas when sister Arianna was still alive. The guard says more visitors, Rafe leaves as she can only have at the most 3. The guys bring in Arianna, Rafe chats a bit and leaves. Lots of small talk between the guys and Gabi, who saves most of hers for her daughters. She is so happy to see her again.

Chad & Jordan are rolling around in bed, go for round 2, then she gets a text from Abby, so he suggests she shower, he has to make a call. With Jordan in the shower, Chad calls someone, asking if they got anything on Rafe...and to keep digging.

Abby comes to see Ben, all excited because of the anonymous donation from Clyde, texts Jordan, talks to Ben about Jordan not finding out, and how great it was for Clyde to give the money.
At Club TBD, Abby & Jordan meet, and happily chatter about their project, and the donation, and how they can go ahead after the 1st of the year. Chad comes in, sees the gals, asks Ben if he knows what is going on, Nope. Chad hangs around a bit, then leaves, telling Jordan he will call her later.
Outside, Rafe is arriving, Chad stops him to thank him, telling him how Jordan was so upset over Rafe trying to find something on Chad, she hurried over, and he had to comfort her....twice. (What a PIG!) Rafe calmly tells him he does like to talk, doesn't he. Then says that his father saved him the last time, but that he is so cocky he is going to slip up, and then Rafe is definitely going to be there, cause Chad will slip up. Chad mutters, maybe you will, and with Rafe out of hearing, ...and maybe you won't.

Melanie & Serena are chattering away about Nicole, Serena wants to know whatever Melanie knows, and Mel is not too kind about it. The guys wants to know what they are babbling about, but Mel says since they guys were doing football, the gals were just doing girl talk. Daniel has to go pick up the pizzas in person, so Eric joins the gals, asking how they met. Stupid silly story about Melanie going to a party in Amsterdam wearing wooden shoes, driving 5 hrs., starts to snow, she has to walk, Serena coming along on motor bike, giving her a ride, both to same party, which was boring, so they left, went to a coffee shop, chattered all night. More chatter then about how Serena never mentioned Africa for some time.....and then on to a few items about Eric & Serena in the Congo, the people, scenery, how close they got, then he went to be a priest. Melanie is chattering away about going to do something that they talked about (to Serena), they all are drinking a lot of wine.
Meanwhile Daniel has run into Jen in Horton Square, small talk, but she invites him, Mel & Parker to come over on Christmas, and bring anyone he wants. Nicole is more than welcome.

Nicole is unsuccessful at convincing the bellboy to let her into the apartment, and who shows up but Jen. (never did learn why Jen was there). The bellboy has to leave, Nicole makes excuses as to why she is there with the plant, claiming some client or something from work, who is not there. Jennifer stops her, though, and there are apologies flying all over the place. Jen just wants Nicole to know that she had nothing to do with her and Daniel breaking up, it was between them only, gears did not mesh. She herself has 2 beautiful children, her family, and her life in front of her. Going to move on. Nicole says she sounds like such a good person....(Nicole has said she is sorry if she ever hurt Jen) but Jen denies this, and is leaving. Nicole wishes her a Merry Christmas, Jennifer wishes the same to Nicole. (No idea why Jen was there)
Nicole is muttering to herself that there is Jen being such a good person, while she is thinking of breaking and entering. She decides to take off, but the bellboy returns. Nicole talks of having an argument with her friend, wanted to bring the orchid, leave a note, but the bellboy won't let her go in to do that. O.K. She will just write a note right now. She rummages around in her purse, can't seem to find her pen......but lookie here, what she did find. She brings out a $100 bill. Bellboy says, here, you can use my pen, lets her in the apartment.

Nicole wanders around, finds a book on the Congo. Sees some files, she glances thru. Boring, boring, boring. But then finds one labeled Eric, with all his e-mails to Serena printed out. She wonders why, doesn't have time to read thru them, gets an idea.

Daniel returns with the pizzas, asks where is Melanie. Eric & Serena just smile at each other. Back in Serena's room, Nicole is taking pictures of the papers in the file, puts it all back together, and on the dresser where she found it. She is about to leave, the door opens, and there is a very surprised Melanie!

The best part of today was seeing Gabi again and visiting with Rafe, Will, Sonny and of course Arianna. Even though Sonny and Will were going at it, I think they realized it had to stop for Arianna's sake.

Was nice to see some pleasant moments between Jen and Nicole. Hopefully the new (or should I old) Jennifer is back. No matter how you look at it, Nicole was making an illegal entry in Mel's apartment and was glad she walked in on her. Was confused was it Mel's or Serena's apartment?

It was Serena's. Nicole had gone to a lot of trouble to learn the room number, the plant was her cover, and just when she was about to con the bellboy when he asked who she was, along came Jen, calling out "Nicole". Thus, Nicole could not pretend to the bellboy she was Serena.

And Mel is living with her dad right now.

The best parts were definitely the visits to Gabi and Nicole doing her snooping.

Anything with Jordan/Ben/Chad/Abigail was just plain boring. The chit chat at Daniel's apartment and between Daniel and Jennifer were also yawn worthy.

Why, oh why can't Days have good episodes when I'm on vacation to watch?

Just when I thought I might like Serena, she has that file with Eric's emails. Who the heck prints out years old emails, puts them in a file, and labels it unless they're up to no good? Nope, now I'm very suspicious of her.

Chad is a major butt, bragging to Rafe about having sex with Jordan. I keep hoping Rafe just loses it and tosses his smug behind in some bushes like he did EJ. And who needs Jordan if she's so eager to declare Chad a good man since she knows absolutely nothing about this heathen, except how he is in bed. I say good riddance! Rafe can do so much better.

I want to believe Jennifer has turned a corner. I want to believe she's moving on past Dr. Do Good and is willing to give Nicole a fair shot, but history has a way of repeating itself. How long before Jen is condemning Nicole for hurting Daniel and rushing to Daniel to pick up the pieces of his fragile heart.

What a boring, boring show ! Well, except for cutie Arianna and Gabi. I liked these scenes. And Gabi and Rafe too. Quite endearing.

Will and Sonny ? For the first time, I had to FF. Mainly because I feel their problems are so contrived. Even though I do like the character of Paul, which has nothing to do with today's show, so... moving on. :) Bottom line, Sonny was very wrong to text Will like he did (in the manner he did it, I mean), as Will had every right to fear for his daughter. I would hate it if someone made me think there was something really wrong with my child like that. Then again, Will is acting like a brat, not acknowledging anyone's feelings, except his own (like mother like son, I guess) and not thinking about Gabi. Seriously, I hate what's happening with Will and Sonny. It's such cheap drama. Something Days' writers are very good at (the only thing they're good at, in fact).

Oh, wait, there's another : trying to make other characters appear perfect so that Nicole appears like a total witch. First with Serena, now with Jennifer. Nope, not working. Mainly because I suspect Serena is up to no good, and, like cryin says, I expect Jennifer to go back to being a shrew as soon as she finds out about Nicole being in Serena's room. And we know she will, since Dan Dan, who apparently turns into a lap dog when he's around her, will tell her. If he doesn't tell her, he definitely will listen to her ranting about Nicole if Jennifer finds out in another way (let's say she puts two and two together and realizes why she ran into Nicole today... though, like Poirot said, why oh why as Jennifer there ????). Another contrived plotline.

Which brings me to two other very, very, annoying plots today. Why couldn't Daniel just have the pizza delivered ? Oh, right, so he could run into Jennifer.

And why would Melanie leave in the middle of a dinner like that, after having a couple glasses of wine already ? Oh, yeah. So that she could catch Nicole in Serena's room.

Jordan, Serena, Eric, Chad (I don't like him anymore, at first, I was intrigued, but now, nope : definitely EJ 2.0), Abigail, Ben : I really, really, really don't care ! Poor Rafe ! What a waste !

My only hope now, is that Nicole does find out something about Serena and everyone ends up eating crow. Though I do wish Nicole would not go to all this trouble for the likes of sourpuss Eric.

The pizza place was swamped and it was going to be another hour before the pizza would be delivered, thus Daniel went to get it. Yep, it was just so he could run into Jen. One wonders why she was in the Salem Inn and in the Square. She did not seem to be shopping,
As to Will/Sonny and texting him about visiting Gabi. Sonny explained how Gabi had told Abby, who told Sonny. Will complained "why didn't Abby call me?" Maybe because you never answer any calls, replies Sonny, and that was true, is true. Abby told Sonny in person. Will realized Sonny was right, and, realized (I think) he should have been ashamed of himself that Sonny had to remind him of the promise they BOTH made to Gabi about Arianna, and how it should have been the first thing he did after returning home.

Ari visiting her mom was nice; not as nice as I had imagined in my mind. But then again, it was my own darn fault believing these writers could do something heartfelt, even for the holidays.

I'm sure Jen was out shopping. She most likely used the stores wrapping and home delivery systems so the packages will arrive beautifully gift wrapped and perfect

I really hate that they are making Will such a self-centered twit

And I agree 100% with redsquirrel, why can't we have decent episodes while folks are on vacation.

As to Will/Sonny and texting him about visiting Gabi. Sonny explained how Gabi had told Abby, who told Sonny.

Oh, I know, Poirot. What I meant was that Sonny could have texted Will in a more precise manner. For instance, "Come, it is time for us to bring Arianna to see Gabi". Instead, the way he texted, it was as if Arianna was sick or had an accident or something else that was really wrong with her. So, though Sonny is right about Will not answering his phone, and pretty much right about everything else, I disagree with the content of the text, per say.

Oh, wait, there's another: trying to make other characters appear perfect so that Nicole appears like a total witch.
Amen. Making Nicole look bad is a bad habit with the writers -- one that they should get over immediately. As for other characters, a few messages are in order.

Will: Sonny was being kind when he said you were acting like a child. You weren't just acting, you are a child.

Dr. McScruffy: You really know how to pick guests for a pizza party -- Nurse Betty Boop and sourpuss Eric in one room. An event this exciting should have been covered by Titan TV. :sarcasm:

Abigail: What a coup -- a big gift from Clyde. Now University Hospital not only has a DiMera on its Board, but is also providing a program paid for with drug money.

Jenny: Interesting to see that you finally noticed it was winter and wore a coat. On the subject of your 2015 forgiveness campaign -- does it also apply to Anne Milbauer and Jeannie T??

Chad: Stop yanking Rafe's chain. Keep it up and he might just forget he's a cop and remember he's bigger than you are and is packing a gun.

I bet nobody will ever guess what my favorite part of today's episode was.

Eric/Melanie/Serena: Um, was anybody able to follow what the heck they were yammering about? I tried to pay attention but I just couldn't do it. The funny thing is I don't dislike the actors or the characters but their scenes just don't click for me.

Nicole: *sigh* I like her I really do and if I felt she had a justifiable reason for her actions today I could support them. But I don't feel that she has that reason so I don't. She's coming across as just sad and she really needs to stop.

Chad, okay I am done really done with this creep. All I can say is I can't wait for him to get his comeuppance.

Gabi/Rafe/Will/Sonny/Arianna, sometimes during a mediocre episode there will be something that makes it all worthwhile. I've been waiting for this all week and I was not disappointed. What I appreciated was you could see how much effect being in that place has had on Gabi. She seemed worn down and tired to me and yet she's still so young. I loved the bittersweet moments like Rafe and Gabi remembering happier Christmases and the debate over the existence of Santa, the chocolate Santas and of course Arianna's shy little smile at the end. I can't wait until these scenes are online so I can watch them again. I really hope we can get more appearances like this from time to time.

So go ahead I dare ya, try to guess what my favorite part was.

*Heh yeah right like they'll ever guess in a million years.*

I liked the show today. Really liked seeing Gabi and Rafe in scenes together, I miss their brother/sister relationship. I also enjoyed Gabi with Ari, hope we see more of Gabi soon.

Nicole will never learn but I love her.

I am liking Serena and Eric, looking forward to seeing where their relationship is going.

Really wish Rafe would have punched Chad.

I'm watching right now and had to pause because Rafe and Gabi have me in tears. That hug and Rafe's "Merry Christmas kid" to Gabi, did a number on me. DAYS was insane not to utilize their sibling chemistry more often when Camila Banus (Gabi) was on the soap.

I enjoyed Rafe with Gabi too. He's trying so hard to be there for her,
but it's difficult. I think it would have been better if the guard hadn't
told Gabi Ari was there to see her. It should have more of a surprise.

I liked Jen today. Maybe her hair style makes her act like grown up :)
I hope she can keep up the positive attitude when she finds out later about
JJ and Eve. We all know one she will.

Not happy what Nicole did. Little miss save the day had to come
in and find her there too. What excuse will Nicole tell.

I wonder if Chad will tell Jordan he wasn't the one who donated the
money. Today she kept looking at him thinking he was.

Daniel should be glad he came home when he did. Eric and Serena
may have gone past kissing if he was gone any longer.

Jennifer stated that she was at the hotel to visit the Harrisons. Evidently Nicole knows them too because Jen asked her if she was there for the same reason. What got me is that Jennifer came out of the elevator and then went back in the same direction. So why was she on that floor in the first place? Because we clearly saw Derrick walk in the other direction when he had to go to the lobby.

But I digress. I did LOVE the scenes with Gabi. Though I thought Rafe's scenes with her were wasted on complaining about Will. It just seemed to drag on with about a minute to talk about other things. I was crying as soon as Arianna came in. I think Camila Banus (Gabi) played the role well though I think her hair should have been straighter. It looked like it had been styled.

I think my issue with the Eric/Serena/Melanie scenes is that I'm already suspicious of Serena so I'm preoccupied trying to figure out her motive. I am glad we got a little more background on her and Mel though.

I do want Nicole to find out what Serena is up to and make everyone eat crow but not like this. I'd prefer to see her doing a Ewe search and maybe questioning people from her past the way Kate researched Jordan. Still obsessive but a bit less intense and more legal. Perhaps Eric really is one of her medical cases.

I'm over the Jordan/Abigail donation thing. I FF anything with Jordan in it at this point. But I do want to see Rafe take down EJ Jr. Chad. I suspect Rafe will get hurt first and then Jordan will find out about Chad the hard way and help Rafe again.
