Best and Worst Recasts

Eve is also supposed to be much younger than portrayed right now
If she had a daughter in her twenties (two years ago) she would now be in her forties, at least, because she was probably in her twenties or thirties when she left town years ago. I don't know the actress' age but I don't see how Eve is "supposed to be much younger than portrayed right now."

Kassie DePaiva (current Eve) is only 7 years older than Charlotte Ross (original Eve).

We don't know if that's why they were never in a scene together or not. No one connected with the show has ever said anything along those lines. The actor is completely gray now and could easily pass as old enough to be Eve's father.

So while Kassie DePaiva (Eve) didn't seem like a good fit as Eve, it has nothing to do with how close in age she is to Charles Shaughnessy (Shane).

Precisely why I stated in my post that the actor age difference doesn't always matter. I'm aware of all of those cases you mentioned.

I don't have an actual link to an interview but I do remember there being posts on social media about Charles Shaughnessy (Shane) and Kassie Depaiva (Eve) not being able to tape together. It may have come unofficially from one of the boards that has a media connection to the show.

In this particular case, I do maintain that Kassie Depaiva (Eve) cannot easily pass as the daughter of Charles Shaughnessy (Shane) so we will have to agree to disagree on that point.

I think Charles Shaughnessy (Shane) was pretty tied up with his theater work when Kassie DePaiva came on as Eve. But they had Eve and Kimberly share scenes, and Patsy Pease (Kimberly) is only a year younger than Charles Shaughnessy (Shane).

I agree. Real life ages rarely matter. (Sofia always wore a white wig on Golden Girls, and thus could easily play Sofia at a younger age. Dorothy, tho, was played by a different actress when flashing back to days of yore)

And, Charlotte Ross (Eve #1) easily could be seen as Shane's daughter. Kassie DiPaiva (Eve #2) was just not able to be seen as Shane's daughter.

Not blasting anyone's acting. They acted the writing they were dealt. Some may have needed more experience to take on these roles, but they did their best. I hope, since they moved on, that they found roles that uses their talents better.

What if they brought back Kyle Lowder as Brady? I would be good with that. Connect him with Chloe and they can perform duets at the Club. This incarnation of Brady has really soured me on the character. They just need a really bad guy, I guess. His heart has been broken. Boo and hoo. Who hasn't been through heartache?

If he once listened to someone he trusts (older than he is), he might not make these horrific choices. About the only one that makes sense anymore for him is Kristen. Brady was a good person but his love life is disastrous. Everyone makes choices. You want a different outcome, make a different choice.

*off topic* As far as I'm concerned, they could have had anyone play the character that Kassie DePaiva played. The character was not Eve and no invented backstory or grafted daughter would convince me otherwise. (Let's remember Paige was introduced with no Salem connection, then later Eve was added as her mother. The writing in those days was atrocious.)

And yet instead of using Eve's rich history and boy troubles to guide her daughter, she resorted to cheap stunts and scheming (like trying to keep Paige in California when Shane was ill).

To me it's unfair to call a recast "bad" when the character isn't being written truly. And that happens a lot on Days. :back:
