Good morning. I'm trying to think of what to eat for breakfast. For a while now I've been having one egg, one piece of bacon, and one piece of toast every morning. With the cool, overcast weather, I've been wanting something different but I'm limited in my options and don't want to spend much time cooking anyway so I'll just daydream about comfort food, I guess.

Late yesterday I did make a pot of cheddar cheese soup, something I'd been wanting to do for a while. It is so good! Will have it later today but I don't know what we'll have with it. I don't usually spend much time thinking about food but the cold weather makes me hungry for something different. It isn't even all that cold now, 59*, will be 64* later, then Tuesday through the rest of the week, sunny and in the 70s*.

Good Sunday to all of you.

Good morning from the chilly north country, and fog is visible, turning the tree branches all white, at least for a while.

OC, you are making me hungry. I'd have toasted garlic bread with that soup, but like me, you probably don't have any French or Italian bread on hand. LOL

And something easy is instant Quaker oatmeal or instant Cream of Wheat. They come in individual packets in the box. With a slice of toast....perfect for coolish (or cold) weather. They heat up in microwave, so double easy.

    Good morning all.

Up and about to leave the house for a session with the bonsai master on a tree I don't want to work. I'll get before and after pictures.

Yesterday was a good visit with stepmom but we didn't get much accomplished due to the Veterans Day closures. Next week we will take the grandson/great-grandson with us. Or he may stay and play in the pool with great-grandma. The pools at her complex are heated year round. Or not heated during the summer.

Cheddar Cheese soup sounds so wonderful, and yummy.

As for me, my breakfast once again is a thrilling protein shake. Given I hate eating breakfast, this is a good deal for me. I get protein, minerals, vitamins and am better able to face the day and it tastes good. So a win win for me. Even though on a Sunday morning I'd rather read the paper and then have pancakes or waffles or french toast.

    Have a peaceful Sunday.

Robin, your weather is probably warmer for swimming in winter than some people have in summer. My daughter always has a smoothie for breakfast. I have to roll my eyes when she comes here and drags in all these special ingredients for it. I feel like I could cook a meal by the time she gets her smoothie made! The cheese soup I make is yummy. I put chopped carrots, celery, and onion in it. Also chicken stock, butter, corn starch, flour, salt and pepper, and the cheddar cheese.

Poirot, you took me back in time. My parents always loved warm cereals. We ate a lot of Cream of Wheat and Malt-O-Meal when I was growing up. I wasn't a big fan so never took up eating it after I was grown, but the funny thing is, the other day when I was in Wal-Mart, I stopped and looked at it for a bit and considered buying some. Maybe I will the next time I go. About 20 years ago I started eating oatmeal every morning and did so until maybe five years ago. I guess I got overload on it. I've tried it a few times again but can't get back into it.

I miss going to church. The husband really is not in any shape to go and at this point I'm not comfortable leaving him home and going. I've found one I like to watch on tv but of course it isn't just the same.

A cloudy day here and close to 60. I had a nice time at the supper last night.
I need to spend time cleaning more of office before afternoon church.

OC, I have oatmeal every morning most of the winter. I buy the container
    to make instant
(not packets) and heat in microwave. I sometimes have
Cream of Wheat. OC, can you listen or watch on TV a church service
    on Sunday?

robin, I'm glad you had a nice visit with your step mom.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Sunday.

My absolute favorite bakery is for sale. I hope any new owner doesn't change anything!

Do you oatmeal lovers use brown sugar?

    Happy Sunday all,

It is a warm as usual morning headed into a almost hot afternoon at 87F here. I am beyond bored with shorts, tees, and sandals everyone is wearing. Plus running the A/C this time of year is an expense I usually do not have to finance. Still, I remind myself no hurricanes, tornadoes, or , well, I would love a blizzard but Robin might never speak to me again.

OC: like Poirot, I am an oatmeal or cream of wheat lady in the cold mornings. I love mine on toast. Anyone laughing at me, like my sister does? Your soup does not delicious! On days when I cannot attend church, I do what I encouraged my parents to do as their health declined: watch it on tv or the internet. My church has a live feed for every service. Hopefully you can find one you feel comfortable with viewing. God knows your situation and He is on your side!

Poirot: glad to meet a fellow how breakfast in the winter lady. Just love the view you described of the fog covering the trees because that means your window view is a good one. It sounds like an early autumn snow kind of day, one I always loved. Hope your day is peaceful & restful. You deserve it!

Robin: your comment about the pool "or not heated int he summer" cracked me up. Our sun does that at about 9am all summer long! Looking forward to the before/after pictures of your bonsai tree. And what type of protein drink do you buy or is it a prescription? It certainly is working a wonder of weight loss for you! Happy class day.

Kat: hope you had time to finish your cleaning before leaving for church. That way, hopefully, you can enjoy either a fun or relaxing afternoon. Glad to know there is another hot morning cereal lady on the board too.

AGuy: yes, another hot cereal lover! Before being diagnosed as diabetic, we always added brown sugar and cinnamon on our morning cereal. Afterwards, sans the brown sugar. Hope your day is a cheery one.

JS: thinking of you and hoping your weekend is a fun one!

Take care everyone and enjoy your beautiful autumn weather on this lazy Sunday.

    A. Guy, I do like brown sugar on oatmeal but I'd gotten so I didn't put anything on mine except butter.

Kat, my doctor always tells me to eat oatmeal for cholesterol. Probably putting all the butter on it would cancel out the benefits though. Yes, I have found a church on tv that I like to watch on Sunday mornings.

Thanks for the personal encouragement, Noel. That's the part of church that is missed by only watching on tv, but watching is better than nothing, and there are many from which to choose, with all the cable/Dish channels.

OC: so happy to read you have found a church service you enjoy watching on tv. Those words of encouragement from pastor to congregation are coming straight to you, and me, today at home too. Blessings.

    Happy Sunday to all,

I have to join in with the hot cereal for breakfast. I love oatmeal but I buy the big box that has to be cooked. Don't really care for the instant. Have that most days in the winter.

It's a dry morning today but will be wet again starting tomorrow and lasting all week. Typical Washington November weather! Love it. Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the day!

    Hugs to all.

These are thumbnails. The pictures will get bigger if you click on them. I have a bit more wiring to do and some other design work.

I did not expect this to go this way. I am not fond of this direction, which is why I didn't want to go today, but ended up going. The long branches will be sacrificed at a later date after they bulk up the branches/trunks around them.

Robin: whoa that is some change!. Still I am certain your final design will be beautiful. Just not sure I could cut that much off but then I would have no design in mind either. What a challenging process my friend.

Robin, I'm looking forward to seeing that tree's progress!

I am currently nursing a small, "dead" potted mini rose back to health. Getting some fresh leaves, but I think it's going to get leggy.

Regarding oatmeal, had a cookie, today; does that count? :)
