11-23-17 - Donuts and Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving blessings to each and everyone of you today!

Good morning ladies and everyone to join. Happy Thanskgiving to y'all and hope everyone does exactly what they would like to if you have the time off.

WE GOT US A CHINOOK COMING THROUGH!!! At 5am this morning it was beautiful at 11*C (51.8*F) and should be staying with us until Sunday at least. Unfortunately that is our daytime high that we already hit but for the rest of the day end even up until around 9pm, temperatures are supposed to be in the plus.

I dropped the car off at our mechanic to have an oil change, get the front brakes done and to have it looked at in general because we will be travelling to close to Vancouver for Christmas which on dry roads is about a 10 hour drive from Calgary but at Christmas driving though the mountain passes adds a lot more time onto your trip and the possibility of road closures on a few of the passes so we want to ensure the car is in great shape before Dec. 22.

Have a good day everyone. And JS, I've been teasing you a bit over the last few days so I'm glad you take it well. A good sense of humour is one of the best qualities a person can have in my opinion.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

It’s been a crazy week so far and I’m hoping it will calm down a bit now. My daughter has been fighting a migraine so we have had the kids so her husband wouldn’t miss to much work.

We are having what they call a Pineapple Express today so it’s 56 right now but very windy with 60 mile an hour winds. It has rained all week.

I hope all of you get to spend your day with love ones!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and good morning Muzza!

Muzza, I had to google chinook. We experience something similar to that. It's called Wacky Virginia Weather:rotfl: You haven't lived until its 70 degrees and you are under a winter storm warning.

My husband is putting our Christmas tree together. We're both off work today and don't have to be anywhere until we go to his grandmas tonight.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

What YPG said! :drunk: :drunk:

Drive carefully, everyone!

I have been invited to join a road trip, on Saturday, to this place. A famous chicken dinner, in the town, is also planned.

My seemingly impolite response was that I would go on the trip for no less than $500, and that that was a bargain price. I have the "Loony Tunes" theme stored on my phone, and will play it for them as they leave. :) :)

A.Guy hopes to have a restful Saturday at home, perhaps venturing out to an un-crowded eatery. The one I have in mind also has excellent fried chicken, and is a much shorter drive. :drunk:

Shan, I do hope your daughter will kick the migraine soon. Why do they always have to come on holidays or when something special is happening? Yesterday and through the night last night were indescribable for me but I'm very thankful to be doing all right for now.

One son and his family are on their way here now, should be about halfway on the 3-hr. drive.

Wishing all of you a day of blessing!

Stuffing made, turkey in the oven. MAcy's Parade is on, tho I am having problems with the sound.Whenever singers come on, can barely hear them. My obsessive compulsive hubby could not wait for me to get the turkey in the oven so he could clean up my mess. Mind you, I was cleaning up and putting away as I was going along, but he has this fetish, I swear. Fine with me. But irritating as he make a big deal at times out of small stuff. LOL And yes, he IS obsessive compulsive.

Hope all the migraines take off and stay away for a while.

Hey Red.....Wisconsin has those days......We get 60 and along comes 6" of snow. One Halloween, it was 65 on the 30th, and 25" of snow next day.

Sun is out, lovely day, gonna be about 35. Then tomorrow, they are telling us it will rain....but then towards evening, it will be snow. Ahhh yes.

Muzza, smart to get the car in tip top shape now, while you have time. I commend you & your husband for even THINKING of driving thru the mountains for Christmas. And those Chinooks are sneaky, aren't they? LOL

Wishing you all, and your family/friends a wonderful day, safe travels, full tummies, and lots of laughter. :)

Great to hear from so many if you today. The kiddos are watching the parade as I try to coax them into dressing. The stove, oven and range too are all cooking items for my sister's house at noon. My brother is driving here from California border town. In between all this my makeup was applied and then there us my hair. Oh, well. Hope your day is filled with family, friends, great food and many blessings.

Pumpkin pies are in the oven. Thankfully! It was touch and go there for a moment. I knew I should listen to my mother!!! As I was putting the first pie in the oven, I burned my finger and spilled a good portion of the pumpkin filling in the oven and on the oven door, down to the floor, etc. At the precise moment that that happened I was thinking about the way Mom put pumpkin pies into the oven. She would place a partially filled pie on the oven rack and then ladle the rest of the filling in. OK, with the next batch of pies I will do it Mom's way.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

Last night Hunny Bunny and I went to Costco, picked up a big chicken and a pie. Last night, I tried the pie. Not terribly long afterward, I broke out with a rash over my back and down my legs. It was terrible. Had to pop a couple of antihistamines to keep from scratching myself raw. So, no more pumpkin pie for me. No clue what was in the pie that set off that reaction, but it was uncomfortable.

Watching the parade. It is so nice to have nothing that has to be done, nowhere to go.

Be safe in your travels, and food safety.

Happy Thanksgiving Day, friends!

I hope you all will be having turkey with family and good friends today.

I will be going to Mike and Tina's later this afternoon.

Have a great day!

Big hugs.

Dinner with Cornish hens is over. I made the rice pilaf and she brought
mashed potatoes, stuffing and pea salad. They went to check in at their
hotel. I found out they are staying on the square in town. I told them
it's going to be crowded since everyone goes there for the Christmas
lights. Once they check in they can park in the garage so they went
now when it's still light.

Lil0, great suggestion for making pumpkin pie.

robin, sorry to hear about your rash. I hope you're better today.

Mini turkey, aka chicken, cranberries, salad and mashed taters consumed and all is good for the evening.

Our movie for the evening, Tom Cruise's The Mummy, was turned off after 15 minutes. It was terrible, in my opinion.

Tomorrow, Thanksgiving comes down and Christmas goes up. That should be fun.

My tree was up by 10pm. It felt like a workout after all that good food. Friday is time with brother and then finally decorate my house this weekend. My tree will be decorated after work on Monday, Tuesday, however long it takes. Christmas time is here: rejoice!

Just for the record, this is November 24, and still Thanksgiving time. Let's not rush Christmas, the stores do enough of that!

Stores here, for the first time, had Christmas items out before August 1st. That is the total commercialism of Christmas, in my opinion. Decorating our homes, on our own time schedules, is private and up to personal choice. It takes me 5-10 days after work to finish the inside, outside and trees in our home.

So many folks complain about the Christmas stuff being out so early, and of course, the stores want you to start buying gifts, thus need to get you in the thought process, so that you overspend in that area. Always wonder if the "early stuff" is what did not sell last year. For the record, I have boxes of decorations I no longer use, Donated tons of lights, outdoor and indoor, to the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity store when I moved.

I even GAVE my 6 ft. tall artificial tree with all the lights away. Still have my small one. No idea what I will be doing here, I cannot even get all my pictures hung on the walls, so doubt decorations will be a priority for me. I do have the large, beautiful wreath my son's friend made, and my son bought for me. Have it on the side door. (I really do not have a front door, per se. )
