Good Monday morning everyone,

You must all be very busy, if I'm the lucky one to start the donuts thread today at 9:33 CST.

Sorry to be missing for the past week, but with Thanksgiving preparations and doctors' appointments and what not, life has been absolute chaos. I'm hoping to catch up on the goings on at some point today if I can sneak it in.

We still aren't sure what's going on with Gena's tummy. She saw her normal doctor last Wednesday, who prescribed Metamucil and an anti-spasmodic medication for her tummy. She had an abdominal CT scan on Friday. I should get results on that today.

Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning!

It is a routine Monday morning. Slow beginnings. Then by 10am, the nursery usually gets very busy. Right now our precious bundles of joy are sleeping peacefully!

Yesterday evening we finished decorating the living room large tree. Since I posted a picture after it was set up, but undecorated, here is the picture of the finished product. It is filled with family made, family/friends given ornaments and little treasures from the kiddos. A romantic couple of ornaments are hidden in the tree too.

Now, every night after work, I will work on decorating our great room smaller 6.5ft tree. Then, hopefully before Friday, the 3ft bedroom tree in our room. The kiddos decorate their own 3ft trees in their rooms. That was something I dreamed of as a child and delight in seeing their themed, or not so themed, trees.

Manda: well, I am glad the doctor reviewed Gena's situation, ordered tests, and gave some prescriptive medicines. I thought of you so often on Wed-Thurs and the heavy load you are carrying financially, mentally and emotionally. I sure hope your holiday week settles into a more relaxed routine and you can enjoy this special time of year!

Lil0: Wishing you a lovely day and wonderful weather.

Wishing all of you a marvelous Monday as begin the most joyful time of year!

Lil0 - I think so. They blood test they ran from the 18th, all came back normal, no inflammation, no celiac, normal blood levels, etc. He mentioned lots of tests, I can't remember all the names. I imagine if something would be wrong with her appendix it should show up on the CT scan, right?

Noel - your tree is lovely. I think it's fun that you all have your own. Gena has a little pink tree she keeps set up all year, as she never wants to take it down and because it helps her to remember to celebrate Jesus all year (her words not mine).

Last Tuesday night was a long night. She got up almost hourly to use the bathroom, and her bowels were contracting so badly that she had accidents on every trip to the bathroom, resulting in 7 changes of undies, and a shower at 7 in the morning, while I made a trip to Walmart for some Depends for at night, and a complete bathroom sterilization after her shower.

I almost took her to the ER that night it was so bad. We haven't had that issue since starting the Metamucil, however now we've switched to the opposite in that she hasn't had to go #2 since Wednesday morning. I have her some corn syrup last night and cut back on her Metamucil dose to try to ease things up a bit for her. I'm hanging on by a thin thread right now, but it must be made of elastic or something cause it seems to be strong. :)

Manda: even a thin thread of faith is stronger than sheer determination. Your faith shows in your love of family and placing them first. My what a week you have finished. Gena has the sweetest heart! Love her pink tree sentiment. Prayers for a much lighter load in December. Hugs.

Good morning......Grey & overcast here, too much to do today, and thus procrastinating as have to choose where to start. LOL,

Mandy, perhaps you should completely stop the Metamucil for maybe a day or two. Usually, one doesn't have to "go" for a couple of days, following an episode like hers, but maybe just not taking the dose one day or 2 days, then ????? Poor kid.

And yes, lots of tests, I imagine, as they have to "rule out" all kinds of things. I remember having to go thru so many tests for an entirely different problem, did not know why, until I learned about the "ruling out". THAT is a good thing.

Hubby finally fixed the door frame on the laundry room door. On moving day, very windy, and a huge gust of wind actually blew the door out the opposite way. (one door opens into garage, that door was open, as was garage door, furniture being brought in thru garage. Just a little room, with washer and dryer, but the other door opens to little hall, and that door, which opened in from hall, was blown out into the hall, thus, this little frame had to come off to get the door back to where it belonged.

Morning or afternoon all.

Busy day trying to get the state reporting wrapped up. A tiny bit of training would be helpful. Hate the learn-as-you-go part of this job.

Supposed to cool down. We shall see. But it is breezier this morning that in the past. So just maybe.

Traffic was terrible yesterday. Hunny Bunny left at 8:30 and got home at 9:30. Several times completely stopped on the roadway. But no accident to be seen, which is good. But when you sit on a freeway for a few minutes, you'd like to know why.

Off to work, again.

Robin: wishing you speedy learning as you "go". It actually felt cooler this morning at 5am but thermostat read 79F. I avoid the freeways now at all costs. They are better described as parking lots. Lol

I heard back from the doctor. Gena has thickening on a portion of her colon wall, so we have an appointment set for Jan 16 with a pediatric gastroenterologist. There are only 2 in the state that are covered by my insurance, one in Madison (about a 3-4 hour trip) and one in Milwaukee, but he travels to the hospital in my city. Since neither had openings until January, I opted for the one who travels to me. Our normal doctor thinks it may be colitis. They are going to call back and let me know what to do about the Metamucil.

Robin - that's a lot of traffic, yikes. Hope the reporting goes smoothly.

Poirot - Glad you door is fixed. That must have been quite the gust of wind to do that to your door.

Manda, possible good news. Colitis is not something grand. BUT if that is what it is, it is something it has a name and a treatment plan. And those are good things. Not knowing is always the worst and having people think you are crazy because you don't do things because you don't know what your stomach will do while you are out is not fun.

Last night our new station did a long story about some women sky divers. I grabbed a picture of my tv screen and sent it to the station. This story was 3 minutes long and the line under the picture was there for the entire story.

wold record.jpg

The women did set the WORLD record for whatever event they were trying to do. A "wold is like a bog. But they weren't jumping into a bog.

The station replied to my question with "Thanks for watching, it was a typo".

Why should I sweat my spelling if a banner is so blatantly wrong and no one cares??

Hello everyone. The colder nights and mornings, along with shorter days, are bringing me down. At least I haven't seen a frost yet. I should be living on the equator, lol. I haven't seen my resident fence lizard lately, but I have seen some little ones (about an inch or so long). They have no fear, so I'm trying to encourage them to run when they see Remmy, lol!

Another pretty day here. I got outside an hour before lunch and put more mulch down.
I made a small goal to go down so far and I got it done. I took out more surprise
lily bulbs and I put in some iris in their place.

manda, I hope seeing the specialist will help Gena. I hope she won't be in too
much pain before her January visit.

robin, I'm glad Hunny Bunny got home safely. I guess a lot of people traveling
home on their last free day.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day and evening.

Hi everyone,

I think I'm finally getting back into the swing of things after my trip, but I'm still not settled from the time change back an hour plus 3 hours difference in California. My whole body seemed to hate me once I got home.

Now I'm putting up with stupid people at work. Too bad I can't tell all what I'm really thinking.

Amanda, thank goodness the docs are getting to a cause of Gena's problem. She must be totally mortified at having accidents.

Noel, I have a new appreciation for NICU nurses. My friends (stationed at Fort Knox, Ky.) had their twin boys last week by C-section at 26 weeks. (They were coming on their own, but the doc didn't think they'd survive a normal birth.) The babies were then flown to the NICU in Louisville. Mom and Dad were able to kangaroo one twin for the first time this weekend. They both said the NICU nurses were angels from heaven.

Poirot, thank goodness your door was fixed. You definitely don't want that cold air coming through the laundry room.

kt, I think the weather is screwy everywhere. It is supposed to get up to 60* here tomorrow.

robinsnest - I just hate sitting in traffic. Especially when there is no apparent reason for it.

kat - I love hearing about your flowers, plants, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Robin: :rotfl: they should sweat it because they look like idiots for not noticing the 'typo' and fixing it right away.

KT: maybe you should name each baby lizard, like: "go" "run" "hide". I have enough sun, heat and dust to send you for several years. If only it were that simple. You have our support here!

JS: hilarious! :rotfl: Hope your day is as much fun!

Kat: hopefully you will show another video on youtube of your winter garden. It sounds lovely.

Squirrel: thanks for sharing your friends experience with a NICU unit. We are not 'angels' but we try to be from the heart. It is always a privilege to care for these precious babies. Saying a little prayer for the family tonight.

RS - That time transition must have been really awful, glad you are starting to adjust. How scary for your friends to have their babies so early.

Yes, Gena was terribly embarrassed about the accidents. I tried to reassure her that it was not her fault and that it was okay, while trying to remain calm through the frustration and sleep deprivation. She was in so much pain that night that she managed to get over it quickly. I went so far as to give her Tylenol and an ice pack to try to help the pain, but it didn't work. That was probably the 2nd longest night of my life, the first being my first night home from the hospital with her when she had her days and night backwards.

Noel - I disagree, I too think all nurses, but especially NICU nurses, are angels.

Thank you for the prayers, Noel. Each baby is so small that Dad could hold one in each hand (if he was allowed to).

I got a kick out of the typo in the tv crawl, robinsnest.

Before I left for vacation, our local tv had the typo "cloudsy" in the morning weather crawl. I asked the chief meteorologist through Facebook if "cloudsy" had more or less clouds than "cloudy". A bunch of us, including him, had a good laugh about it. The next day someone put "rainsy" in the crawl on purpose.

Amanda, I was up at 2:30 pacific time every morning. Then fought to stay awake past 8:00 pm. Please give Gena a hug from me. It just never seems to end for you, two.

We had a great time with friends and family the last 4 days! The time sure did go by fast.

Manda - so sorry to hear about Gena. Colitis runs in our family so I know what she is going through. I don't have it but my Mom suffered with it and so many relatives. Poor little thing. Everyone one is different too, so what might affect one, may not affect the other.

Have a great day.

Shan: glad your Thanksgiving and long holiday weekend were great fun. Why is it holidays speed by so quickly.

Manda:  thanks on behalf of all NICU nurses.

Squirrel: please keep us posted on these sweet babies.
