Good morning everyone. It is a bit chilly and damp at 48* with a steady rain. I need to venture out from the office shortly to go to a senior center in my southern county. Half the travel is interstate, and the other half is back roads. Not where I want to be when the weather is nasty.

Wishing you all a good day.

Good morning.........it rained all day yesterday, and was 54 at 6 p.m. AT 10:30 p.m. the ground was coated with snow, the tree branches, etc. It is still dark out, but I can see that the snow covers the roofs, ground, trees, etc. AND everything is closed....the schools, some businesses, Senior Center, One health center, etc. Means the roads are bad. Temps have dropped drastically, it is worse further north of us, along the Lake Superior shorelines, both sides. Oh, yeah, it is 20*.

That old phrase.....if you don't like the weather in WI, wait 5 min. ...sure came into play today. It will be getting light soon......still snowing a bit.......

Morning all.

The radio heads are telling me I'll need a sweater going out, as it is in the 40's. Finally. Only a bunch of weeks behind. But the daytimes will go back up to the mid to high 70's. I hope Noel had a chance to get out in the "cooler" weather.

It is drive to the office day.

The day before state reporting final day of certification, so it should be insane. Yesterday, I worked till 7 trying to get a district ready. I won't know till I get in how I did on fixing the errors. The district has had since Oct 2nd to work on this, as did all of the state. Yet over half of our sites waited till the week of Thanksgiving to get started.

I will try to check in during the day.

Be kind to everyone. It is stressful out there.

Morning Everyone,

We're in the middle of Poirot's cold snap as well, blustery and 22* this morning. Only supposed to get colder through the weekend. Really glad hubby put the lights up outside yesterday rather than waiting. It took him a week to find the lights in the basement.

Gena's home sick from school again. She had a rough night of tummy troubles, so needless to say I didn't get much sleep either.

Poirot - stay warm and drive carefully if you must go out.

RS - safe travels to you also.

Robin - hurrah, finally a weather break for you.

Happy Tuesday everyone.

Hello,

WInter Weather Warning: it is totally cloudy in Phoenix this morning!!!! That is how one local channel began its news segment early this morning! I adore the weather like this plus it is cooler! My house is 74F and outside the high today is supposed to reach 72F. People, especially those who move here from southern California, are in a total panic. I am like: people! no rain, no snow, no ice, no wind. Just keep your lights turned on and drive a little slower. Seriously!

Anyway, listening to North Pole Radio and softly singing quiet carols to the precious babies asleep under my care. If their first words are "Christmas" it is definitely not my fault!

Hubs is waiting on the Directv 'technician' to show before noon, to replace our box and remote. You would think one item would be the problem, but they assure us we need to pay for both items. They call this service?! Well they are not stealing my Christmas joy despite their attitude of ka-ching!

Squirrel: be safe out there on those winter weather roads!

Poirot: hope you stay bundled up inside today. Do you have a fireplace?

Manda: sorry Gena is still having tummy pains and grumblings. Sure hope they find a treatment plan soon. Stay safe as you commute daily.

Robin: look out your work window: clouds! Real grey clouds!! I was dancing in the 40F this morning and singing "Let It Snow"! Hope your work day goes much smoother.

Ring those Jingle Bells everyone!

Tis snowing again, flurrying but still snow. They keep announcing all the closings, from the ice I see around the windows, roof overhangs, etc. the roads must be horrible. I hope the plows are out, have not seen any here yet.......but heck, probably is treacherous for the plow people to get here.......

Tis a shame we can no longer find certain items because they are no longer made, sold, do that kind of business, etc. We have become such a "disposable" society. Why I was thinking of shoemakers, I have no idea, but definitely a business that no longer exists. LOL

Wish I could find my christmas cards...yes, I had them, no idea where they are buried now. Tried to find all my extra batteries, I had all kinds. Same. sigghhhh.

I need a mental break so I came here. I'd take up smoking so I could have the 15 minute break every two hours to go stand outside. Seems if you don't smoke, you don't qualify for the break. Insanity. Anyway, I sent detailed instructions to a "to remain unnamed district" to work on this morning before I came in. And ta da, they've done nada, zip, zilch. It's too hard. We are understaffed.

So I'm taking a mental break. I may put on some music. At the office it is frowned upon, but why not?

Manda - I'm sorry to hear about Gena. I hope you are able to come up with a treatment plan that works.

Off to assist the district who acting like my 4 year old grandson. "But grandma, it's too hard to pick up ALL my toys."

A cloudy day here and in the 30s this morning.

Sat I couldn't find an extra item for the cookies I'm making at my regular
Walmart. I found item at other Walmart. I left home early to beat the crowd.
Item not there even though clerk scanned code and said three in store. UGH.
He found what I needed at the next Walmart. I had to drive another 5 miles
to get there. Item bought, but now I don't want to make cookies. Cookie
exchange Thurs. Then I had problems with my cable box. And cat hurt
himself. Maybe on fence. Oh well.

manda, sorry to hear Gena missing school again. I hope she make up
her school work at home.

Noel, I hope you don't have to pay too much money for the new equipment.

rs, I hope the weather wasn't too nasty for your travels today.

Poirot, I hope you can stay in with the snow on the ground.

robin, I'm glad it cooled off for you.

kt, I hope all is going well with your home search.

I hope everyone will have a good rest of the day.

Kat - I will be picking up her homework on my way home from work tonight.

A.Guy - the nearest children's hospital is not covered by my insurance. She has an appointment with the specialist from the 2nd closest children's hospital, but that isn't until January 16th. Thankfully the doctor makes weekly visits to my city and another nearby (the hospital itself is about an hour and a half away) the 3rd nearest children's hospital is a 3 hour trip 1 way, and we can't get an appointment there until January 11th.

The 2nd and 3rd are both covered by my insurance. We are on a waiting list that if someone cancels we can get an earlier appointment, but I'm not holding my breath that we'll have that chance. In the meantime, I talk to her regular doctor's office every couple of days to try to make sure she's as comfortable and pain free as possible.

I also still have Gena eating as gluten free possible (although hubby's not very helpful with that). And trying to get her to eat more along the lines of the "BRAT" diet, which for anyone who's never heard of it is bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast, while I continue to try to research foods that help colitis, when I'm not working or submitting job applications. Some days I wonder how I manage to find time to sleep.

RS - sounds like really nasty weather going on in your area. Drive safely.

Poirot - more snow. I really feel for you.

Robin - sounds like a stressful day for you working with idiots. That makes for a long day. Sorry!

Manda - sorry to hear Gena was up all night. Poor thing. Stay warm too.

Noel - I can see you singing carols to those precious babies and they are smiling back at you. I have my radio here at work on all day Christmas music and it's putting a smile on my face. So glad you got a cloudy day. That's something I never thought I would say! LOL

Kat - you really had to make a trail to get your ingredients for the cookies. That's sad.

It's cool (35) here but sunny and no wind. I will take that. As long as I can see the sun, I can handle the cold. They say our weather will be dry for the next 2 weeks.

I came home from work yesterday and we have all the lights on a timer so all the Christmas lights were going and then I noticed the projector that we have on the house was not Christmas pictures. It was big bunches of balloons flying across the house. We found out later the neighbors have the same projector so they changed it to birthday balloons for me!

Have a great day.

Still snowing here, but the sun came out for 2 minutes....wind died down, snow stopped, and one thought, yayy, storm has passed. LOL, as I said, within 2 minutes, came roaring back. Our street got plowed, you would never know it. Ha.

Mandy, is there not some sort of part time, for the holidays, work hubby might be able to do for just a short time? Like WalMart, or some other box store you might have where you live?

My goodness, Kat, good for you to succeed getting what you needed for your baking. I used to bake so many cookies, but now......visit the local bakery. Tho Nestle Toll House has those cookie dough pkgs. you bake your self. I do oatmeal raisin, (allergic to chocolate) & sometimes peanut butter, but my days of decorating and making tons of cookies are over. No family here to help eat them. LOL

Amanda, you have so much weight on your shoulders. It just never seems to end.

Shanrick, how nice of your neighbors to put in the balloons disc for your birthday!

kat, what a mess to go through to get your ingredients.

robinsnest, Good luck with that school district. I hate end of month, quarterly, and end of calendar year/fiscal year reporting when others don't do their parts first. GRRR!

Poirot, we still have 2 shoemakers in town. My assistant goes to one because she needs specially made shoes. They've revised our weather report for more snow than originally expected. Yep, all based on what's going on in your neck of the woods now.

Oh my, Poirot, that's a lot of snow.

As for my husband, there are a lots of part time jobs available. Lots of full-time work too, just nothing he's willing to do. A local sandwich/pizza place is looking for someone to work full time making pizza and sandwiches for $12 an hour, but he won't apply because he'd "die or embarrassment if someone he knows came in and saw him working there".

My reply was, "oh sure, because it's so embarrassing to be supporting your family making good money for a super easy job".

Here's what I want to do to him:

manda, I think all of us want to do that to your husband. He's not showing pride, he's being selfish. Please remember you need to take care of yourself. If you need to let something go, do it. People will understand.

Poirot, did you take the picture at your new place? It's beautiful, but only if
you can stay at home and enjoy it.

No, Kat, My local newspaper sends e-mails every day with story, and the pic went with today's story about the schools, etc. being closed. I have not ventured out at all, even to get mail. As Scarlett O'Hara says, tomorrow is another day. LOL. Anyway, the pic was in the newspaper, and was taken here in town, close by, which is why I posted it. (I cannot take pics with my cheapie cell phone.

The sun burned off the clouds before noon and now it looks like summer here. My sister said there are still cloudy grey skies on the far east part of town. Bummer.

Poirot - I copied that photo to stare at daily. Will try to post later. Thinking of you all.
