(I'm sorry for hogging Donuts, and starting it 2 days in a row. I waited, but didn't see anyone else jumping in.)

Good morning everyone. Well, it finally happened. Poirot's cold weather has arrived here after crossing western Ontario and Lake Erie. It was only 27* when I left for work at 6:45 this morning. At least I didn't have to scrape icy/frosty car windows.

I get a reprieve today, and get to stay in the office doing referral follow ups while my assistant goes to a senior center in the hinterlands. I have the little heater going beside my desk, and a warm fleece blanket is draped over the back of my chair.

OC - Prayers are going up for you and your husband.

Noel - An update on the preemies who are now 3 weeks old. Both were taken off the ventilators yesterday, but they still have their feeding tubes. The docs and nurses said it helped that mom and dad remained very calm and loving at all times. Mom said it is from their angel nurses watching over them.

Good morning, and RS........have more BRRRRR than you, lol, tis 15° here, and snowing. yes, snowed all night, I guess, and still going on. This was all supposed to push out of here yesterday afternoon, but guess it found the area so delightful, decided to hang around for a while longer. LOL There is a big drift right outside the window here. NO animal tracks, though. Yesterday, a neighbor at end of block brought me a piece of mail belonging to me, was in his box. (We have one of those single things, with a bunch of boxes, all needing a key, saves the mail person a lot of walking, for sure, but is a pain for us, tis two blocks away. Anyway, he introduced himself, told me not to even try for the mail, as the boxes were all frozen shut. All that rain, followed by the steep drop in temps and snow. He said he was going over today with a small hammer and try to knock the ice off.

Glad you get to stay in today, squirrelly. OC, am glad your doc is back. He certainly knows the situation the best. Just remember, you also have to take care of YOU. As much as you may feel you can deal with everything at home, it has gotten more difficult, I know. Bless your heart, Pray all goes well.

I should get out to the store,as am running out, but I figure the plows need their time today. I suppose for them it seems an endless task. As fast as they plow, it blows over. I have a wrought iron table on the little patio that looks like about 8-10" snow so far. Hey, just heard we are to get up to 18 today, and then tonight about 2. Such fun, huh?

Bookwork, paper work, on the agenda today. I hate it, as nothing is organized anymore. :)

Poirot, on the bright side, you won't be snowed in at the end of your old L-O-N-G drive way waiting for the plow that may not come.

Whoo-hooo, Poirot, 18 degrees!!!! Almost shorts weather.

Parts of the desert got rain last night. This side didn't. We got clouds all day but no rain.

Please keep a thought for my older and somewhat ditzy sister who lives yet again close to another one of the Los Angeles fires. One of them may actually take out most of the NCIS Afghanistan/Iraq sets. I have a cousin who was evacuated in Ventura. So thoughts for him too.

Off to the exciting world of final day of state reporting, followed by bonsai and then packing so I can make that morning flight and take ALL day to fly to the other side of the country. Exhaustion is setting in. Thankfully I can sleep on a plane.

Squirrel - stay warm. I may bring out the blanket today too, as the A/C is still on keeping the office at 74.

OC - I hope the meeting with the doctor goes well, and you come away with an actual workable plan.

A cold morning here. I wore two pairs of gloves, but I had to go home after
going only twice around. My hands very cold. I'm not sure what gloves
    I need.

I made the cookies, but epic fail. They're supposed to be reindeer faces. I went out
yesterday and bought more eyes. Found out this morning, I need small eyes not
big ones. So, the sugar cookies will be plain and I can take back some of the stuff
    I bought.

Cat is feeling better. He ate and went outside looking at the birds. He's back in resting.
I'm glad I still have medicine from vet I can give him when he hurts himself.
I'm not sure what happened. One leg is full of nicks. Probably a cat fight.

rs, I'm glad you can stay in from the cold today.

Poirot, I hope you can get out today.

robin, have a safe journey tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a good rest of the day and evening.

    Happy St. Nicholas Day!

It sounds like many of you "need a little Christmas right now".

Squirrel: glad you are in the office, snuggled by a blanket with your little heater keeping you warm all day.

Thank you! I was wondering, and thinking, of asking how they were progressing. That is so sweet that their Mom attributed their healing to the nurses, but those babies know their Mom & Dad's voices and that is the best healing balm on earth. Maybe they will be home by Christmas!! :):)

Poirot: whoa, that is more like blizzard weather than just a daily snow! I am sorry it keeps you home bound when you would like to walk outside or run some errands. Still, you will have a White Christmas! Maybe some Christmas music will lighten the load of all day paperwork.

Robin: it is 72F inside my home with no heat. The sun is glaring bright into a cloudless sky again and through December 19 we have mid-high 70's predicted. This is my time to have cold weather! Ah, well, you are certainly very busy prepping for your trip and Christmas with family. Keeping all those in prayers near the raging firestorms. Hope your day is boss-free, cranky schools free, and a quiet zone for you to quickly finish the day.

Kat: oh, cookie fails are legend even among the best bakers. You made homemade cookies and I bet they taste yummy! Glad your kitty is feeling better and the medicine is helping the healing process along. Try some alpine skiing gloves for real warmth on your walks with Goldie. Hope they help keep you warm.

OC: thinking and praying for you today! Sending big hugs and hoping your husband improves to the point that your decision making can be less narrow and more open to your preferences.

    Take care everyone!

Oh, my gosh, I forgot it was St. Nicholas day. As a kid, always woke up to find a christmas stocking filled with small goodies, maybe a coloring book & crayons.....lol. I did the same for my kids when they were little. Thanks, Noel.

RS so glad you get to stay in the office today. I also have a small heater on me also.

Poirot - I'm so sorry about all that snow. 18", wow! That's what happened to us last year. By Christmas we had 3-4 feet of snow. So far NONE!

Robin - keeping your sister in my thoughts & prayers. I hope you have an easier day today.

Kat - 2 pairs of gloves and still freezing? That's cold! Sorry about your cat. Hope she is better

Noel - I've never heard of St. Nicholas Day. I'm going to go look this up. I have my Christmas music going now.

Another sunny and cold day. But I will take the sun over gray cloudy days.

    Stay warm.

Shan, sorry for the mixup....we are to get up to 18 degrees today, and down to 2 degrees tonight. We have 8-10" of snow about now, but there are drifts I do not want to check out. LOL

    Good Evening everyone,

Sorry to be so tardy, but I was exploring museums with Gena and her class today. We visited the Hearthstone museum, which is the first house in the world to be run completely on hydroelectricity. Then we went to the Outagamie County History museum at the castle, which is a museum all about local history. We had fun, when Gena was able to leave the restroom.

Off to the next thing, have a good night everyone.

Afternoon. Sister is still home, but the winds are kicking up. So it will be a long night.

Great news about Gena having a "normal" day with her school buds. And that you too, Manda, were able to have fun!!

Most districts have gone home for the day. I have worked long hours this week. I may do the same thing too shortly.

Robin: Go home, woman. :) Great news about your sister. Still the videos of the fire are terrifying. The 405 was closed for hours! Prayers continue. Please have a restful night.

My daughter used to use the 405 all the time when she lived in CA, Been on it.

Just an aside, but I did get a kick out of the fact that the interstates are always prefaced by "the" out there! Back here, we just take I-94, Rte. 35, or just say "take 35 to 94"........,But in CA, it seems it is always "the 405, the 10", etc.

Temp is dropping here, feeling colder even inside. We have good insulation, still feels cold. Anxious to hear from OC....but understand she under a lot of stress of late.

Mandy, did not know so many neat items in your area. Glad the day was so much fun, and especially that Gena got to enjoy it all.

Robin, yes, go home. you, too, RS......please let us know if it starts to snow.

By the way, it finally stopped here around 4 p.m. They still are talking snow flurries, tonite, tomorrow, but the major part is gone.

Spent about 45 min. on phone with phone company trying to get my voice mail set up. As simple as it supposedly is to do so, would not let me do it. Turned out something was programmed wrong for my phone number.

Plus, I complained about my internet going out suddenly, and they discovered the connection for me to the server was not right, so a tech guy is coming out tomorrow.

Next, I have to call the Direct TV people..........that will take forever, I know. They say, take your receiver & remote when you move. LOL. So I did, the guy puts u p the dish, and it took 90 min on phone one day, and 45 the next to get my channels working. Going to be interesting, as it does seem one is talking to India, or Pakistan all the time. Cannot tell y ou how many "supervisors" I was switched to back then.

    Hi everyone!

Last night when I got off work at 10pm it was 66 degrees. We actually had to turn on the ac because it was so hot in the apartment. Right now it's 44. My head is loving this weather.

Shan, I've never heard of St. Nicholas Day either but I was raised Baptist so I don't know a lot about Saints.

Poirot, we don't use "the" when talking about highway numbers either. Saying the 64 sounds weird. Then again part of I-64 here is labeled east but directionally goes west and vice versa. That's probably more confusing.

Manda, glad Gena had a good day.

Prayers for those affected by the wildfires.

It's December 6th and we received Valentines stuff today. Yay retail.

Hope everyone has a wonderful night!

Poirot: Directv cost us a small fortune Tuesday when service tech replaced box, remote and part of satellite. But now it works great. The phone customer service is very poor though. Good luck!

Red: using the A/C east if the Mississippi sounds unusual this time of year. Glad you are comfortable now. Nice you are all set for Valentine's before Christmas. Lol. Wishing you a peaceful night.

OC: hugs and prayers coming your way daily.

Being a Native Born Californian, "the 5" used to be The Golden State Freeway. The 2 used to be The Glendale Freeway. So I guess we moved to numbers because if you didn't live in the area and someone said take Golden State to Glendale to Burbank, you wouldn't know what the devil we were talking about....

But "THE" number, thing drives Hunny Bunny nuts. But I find Kansans to have limited sense of humor when it comes to roadways, since most of theirs apparently are paved yellow.
