Good Monday,

It is an early rise for errands today. Kiddos want the new Krispy Kreme Reece's donuts so off their Daddy goes for a half dozen. I will miss that yummy breakfast as I am off to Walmart for an oil & lube plus 4 new tires. I'm going the cheapest route after all the costly eye care/surgeries. My Corolla is old, no longer needs 4 season tires, so opting for a 70,000 warranty,

Then there are prescriptions to pick up and if time, renew my driver's license and then pick up touch up paint for the plastered holes. All in all a hot day of 108F today and that makes the errands less comfortable.

Wishing each of you a lovely start to your week.

Good Morning,

Good Luck with all your errands Noel. Those donuts sound tasty, but they'd do a number on my blood sugar. It's probably a good thing that we don't have a Krispy Kreme in town.

Cool but humid today.

We had another busy weekend, with trying to get the house prepped for the exterminator to come back on Wednesday. Then hopefully the bed bug saga will be over. I can say my arms & legs are starting to look almost normal again.

Hubby received a phone call Friday from a very promising direct hire job lead. The company is growing and in need of several people. So if you're willing, please say a prayer, cross your fingers, or whatever it is you do for luck to help him out. I don't think I can handle him being unemployed for too much longer.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good morning everyone. My second of two meetings is over. I just need to finish prepping for working at an Alzheimer patient facility this morning in my southern county. All I do there is clean, adjust , and mend their glasses for them. Families don't clean the patients' glasses when they even bother to visit.

Thank you to everyone for your good thoughts and prayers. Doc gave me the percentages, and they aren't in my favor at this point. Hopefully, the retinal specialist will lower those odds.

Noel - Did your kids have to do extra chores or have punishment for the drone damage?

Amanda - Prayers going up for hubby to be hired and the bugs to be permanently banished.

Manda: definitely continuing prayers for your hubby to find a great new job! AND for every single bug in your home to die....die....die! And their eggs to die too. Hope your day is a great one!

RS: yes, the kiddos lost their allowance [by me] and were taught how to paste drywall and cover it with fortification sheets. When I get the matching paint, they will learn how to paint touch up points. This is a lesson I hope they never need to learn again! Definitely praying for the retinal specialist to have more favorable findings and treatment options for you. Thank you for treating Alzheimer patients!! I kept my Mom at home because my clinical experience in those units was heartrendingly sad!

Sitting here in Walmart waiting for them to start my car. They estimate 8am "or so". Going to be one of those patient learning experience.

RS - I hope the specialist is able to give you better news.

Noel - good for you for making the kids learn how challenging the repair work can be for the result of their "accident". Those are good life skills, and good lessons is cause and effect.

I got the "pleasure of helping my dad with home repairs all the time as a kid. My step-momster was very uncoordinated and as the oldest of 4 daughters in the house, it fell to me. I can change light fixtures and electrical outlets, install drywall patches (or fully replace a room full of drywall) along with the taping, mudding and sanding, install laminate flooring, install carpet with attached padding. I even know some very very basic plumbing.

It works out well as my husband barely knows how to pick a straight board when we go to the lumber yard. He tried to load up the cart with wavy wood when we re-decked the front porch 4 years ago. I told him to go look for screws and switched them all out for straight boards while he was gone..

Morning all.

I checked the Subaru this weekend. It's two years old so the tires are still okay. But this being AZ tires, they don't always last as long as they should. I'm now keeping an eye on my battery for the same reason. Dreading replacing either of those. Enjoy wandering through Walmart.

Manda - eath to bedbugs and eggs. Fingers and toes crossed that hubby gets a great new deal.

RS - I hope the specialist has better numbers for you. And thank you for cleaning glasses. I'd do that for my dad. But towards the end, it was just too much work to get them from him.

Ahh, off to get ready for work.

Good morning. We had another inch and a half of rain last night. I got a better night's sleep last night but my head isn't feeling well this morning. Still, I've been out of my thyroid med for a couple of days so I need to get to town for that and a prescription for the husband. Wishing all of you the best day possible.

Good morning everyone!

Noel, I hope you get your car maintenance done quickly.

The closest Krispy Kreme to me is 14 miles away and in the crime-ridden city of Portsmouth. So no donuts for me this morning.

Manda, hopefully you won't have to worry about the bedbugs much longer. Good luck to your husband on the job search.

Rs, good luck with the retinal specialist.

OC, sounds like we are both members of the Headache Club this morning. Stormy weather is headed my way and my head found out about it and decided to torture me.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Robin: you are right about the tires not lasting, and batteries?! I last purchased the Sears Heat model and so far it has lasted 3 years. That just might be a record - lol! Hope your Subaru stays primo shape in the tire, batteries, etc department.

OC: sure hope you get your thyroid prescription filled today! You are always taking care of hubby and I admire you for that so very much. But please remember you are next on the list.

Red: hope your day is bright, smooth sailing all the way! Thanks for the good wishes.

No quick repairs. They don't honor online prices and sent me home! Next, I am going to purchase/pay online for the 4 tires and oil lube job. Then I have to wait for an email telling me the tires are at the store and return for the actual work. My sister lives in Scottsdale so her son went in, paid online prices at the store and before 1 hour left with a brand new set. Grrrrr

JS: I did speak with the manager, and for over 30 minutes. He refused to budge stating those are "online only" prices. Just checked online and they won't deliver the tires to my store til Tuesday August 15!!

Now I decided to check out online Discount and Sears Tires. I may pay a bit more but this total lack of service is infuriating!

Red: The manager repeatedly told me they don't carry the less expensive tires in the store and must be shipped from a Walmart warehouse to the store. So with fees, taxes, and $13 per tire for installation the savings on the tires is essential. I am a thrifty shopper especially when huge medical bills are looming. Otherwise I would go back to Toyota and pay the $400 a tire plus to avoid this aggravation.

Noel: I had to put tires on my car back in November and went to Sam's Club because my parents have a membership. Cost just under $600 total for all 4 tires plus installation. If you or someone close to you has a membership to there or another place like that you might want to try that.

Good afternoon. It sounds like some of us have had one of those "what da hell?" days and it's still early. The neighbors let me borrow their car again this morning. I had an appointment with the well informed and courteous folks at mental health :sarcasm:. Then I went to Walmart for groceries and medication, including a new medicine the nurse practitioner sent in today. I was told (at the pharmacy) the new medicine had to have prior authorization by insurance companies and I can see why. The cash price was $1257.83! I made them write down the name of the medicine and cost, so I'll have that when I call mental health after lunch. What are they thinking?

I'll be calling the shop to check on my car this afternoon, too. Maybe I'll get some better news.

Take care everyone.

Good afternoon all,

RS, good luck with the specialist.

Manda, I hope that you can get rid of those bedbugs soon. Good luck to your husband.

We got back from California very early yesterday morning. Weather has been mid--70sF--and raining today. I walked my mom's friend's dogs yesterday, as she needed someone to do it unexpectedly. That, and the walking tomorrow-Thursday, will help me fill my account. I plan on going to the gym later today, hopefully with my dad and brother.

I'm also starting a raw vegan diet for this week, just to lose some weight that I gained on vacation from not eating healthy. Also stopping by the bank later--I got my check from work (and also $100 from my great aunt back in CA) that I need to deposit.

I took my first science test on the trip and got a B-. I expected to do better, but this teacher is a hard grader, and it's not a bad grade.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good afternoon. Got a surprise today, as some long unseen relatives stopped by. They did this once before some years ago, doing what I call, "the casino run". They come from Milwaukee area, so stop at a casino or two on way up, and at the one here, then will doing the same on the way back home. We did have a lovely visit. My cousin & I used to play together a lot when we were kids, and my fam. came to town for visits. Though I just teased him about it always being cops & robbers, or cowboys & Indians, which is what boys always seem to want to do. LOL He has been in the military, but now has health problems, has to have a walker, no longer can drive, but still has the sense of humor intact. LOL

Glad his kids were able to get vacation and bring their parents away from home for some fun stuff.

Another busy Monday. Goldie and I got our two mile walk in today. Then I
went out and killed more Japanese beetles. I ate breakfast next. I felt something
on my neck. Yep, a beetle. My neighbor across street put up a bag to catch
them yesterday. Maybe she realized I had some. Anyway, I ran over and put it in.

I called the mower and hopefully he can get me in before it rains again. I
decided even though it's not hot, he can do it for awhile. I can work in
the garage. I spent two hours at school. High today 80. I hope the
cool summer doesn't mean bad stuff for winter.

manda, I'll even cross my toes to help your husband get a job :)

rs, I hope your day went well.

OC, I hope you got to town to get your medicine. They need to start a
drone service to people like you.

red, I hope you're feeling better.

kt, I hope the mental health people were able to fix your prescription.

Noel, good luck on your tire search.

DaysD, good luck on your diet.

I hope everyone has a good rest of the day.

Sorry, Kat. There is never an easy fix for anything at this mental health clinic and it's state funded.

I called about my car this afternoon. The mechanic told me he had good news and bad news. The good news was they decided it wasn't bad fuel injectors causing the problem (and possibly ruining the motor), but the ECM. He explained it was the computer controlling the fuel flow in the injectors. He was quite sure there wouldn't be a problem with the motor, so no 50/50 chance of a fix and it may cost a little less for repairs. The bad news was they had to order the computer from Michigan and it may not be here until Wednesday or Thursday. I really didn't see that as bad news at all! I'm happy to know the odds are great that my car will be ok!

Just a gripe here, and nothing anyone can do or say to fix it. I am a Cub fan, even though I have been gone from Chicago for umpteen years. I have no idea who the players are, their names, even their stats.....being I live up here where everyone roots for Milwaukee Brewers, but radio usually does Minnesota. I know too much about the Brewers, and since their games are on the radio, guess they are doing well, and running neck and neck with my Cubs.

It is frustrating to be a fan of some team about whom one cannot get any info. LOL Guess I should be used to it since this is Packer country, and we were Bears fans.

But, here is something interesting.......all our TV comes from Minnesota, so my young son became a Vikings fan. For some reason, he never wavered, even living in Texas for 7 years. Now he lives in central WI, is still a staunch Vicking fan, evidently has some website or something, he gets interviews with the players or coaches, and was just down in Mankato at training camp.

Back to my Cubs........I was lucky enough to be down in Chicago when the Cubs won the World Series last year, watched that game on TV. Be still my heart. LOL

End of soapbox..........
