Morning all.
Noel - I used, as in past tense, Walgreen's pharmacy when I first moved here. I would call in a prescription. They would say it would be ready next day after 2. I'd show up and they had no idea about it. I'd go home, get the bottle, as for some reason I didn't memorize my RX number, go back, and OH, THAT one. Your insurance company won't pay for a 3 month supply. I know, I'd say, I pay cash for this prescription. It says so on the prescription when I turn it in.
OH, yes, I see that now. Okay, you know it's cheaper if... Yes, but I want an 90 day supply, not a 30 day supply. Okay, give me X minutes to fill it. I wander the store. I get called at the end of the X minutes to be told they don't have the drug. This happened for a year, every 90 days.
I changed my pharmacy. I've changed again and now I'm at Costco. Yes, it is out of the way, but they have NEVER messed up my order. And I pay cash because my insurance prescription plan only allows for a month at a time. Or I can use the mail to house for 3 months, but you have to be home to sign for them (which is wise). At least with my weight loss I'm down to just two drugs. So the pain is less. Whatever happens with healthcare, the pharmaceutical companies must be dealt with.
During my ankle recovery time I needed a cream. It was denied by my insurance company as it was $50 a tube. I assumed it was made from ground-up unicorn horn. My doctor filed the additional paperwork but the doctors working for the insurance company, without ever talking to me, seeing me, seeing my x-rays, said no.. So my doctor asked me if I knew anyone in Mexico or was planning on traveling to Mexico. I did.
The needed medication, $50.00 a tube at Costco ($85 at Walgreen's, $90 at Target) was sold OVER THE COUNTER at the pharmacies in Mexico, for $10 US dollars. I got three tubes shipped to me by family members. It is amazing. I'm just glad I had time and anger enough to keep at it.
Good luck today getting it straightened out.
Heading off to the day job. Yippee.
