Jonathan Crombie, a Canadian actor best known for playing Gilbert Blythe in the series "Anne of Green Gables", has died following a brain hemorrhage. He was only 48 !
I must say "Anne of Green Gables" is one of my favourite television series (one in 1985, a sequel in 1987 and the last installment was in 2000). I had read the book (one of the first books I actually read in English and also one of the first I cried over, out of pleasure, and out of grief, when Matthew dies. Such powerful writing !).
Anyway, I watched the series so much growing up, I loved it. And I loved Anne, of course, but I adored the character of Gilbert Blythe. And the actor, also. He was so good and so genuine. I now own the series in DVDs, so I will watch again fondly, while remembering the wonderful young actor and person we just lost.
