Anyone actually use twitter any more?

    Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

Hopefully you're all out exchanging gifts or whatever it is that you do this Christmas morning, but I just have to ask. Do any of you actually USE twitter and follow our account there (@salemspectator)

The reason I ask is that -- in general -- I don't. As a snob of the English language, I just can't get used to the idea that I'd have to learn a new language (which I call abbreviated kiddie) in order to express myself on Twitter's 140 character platform.

With our news not online yet (and it's on the backburner), the feed there might slow down a bit. I've yet to test with the new software, but it's possible that any posts you "tweet" (using the tweet button) might show up there, which would be great, and help us out a lot if you have a lot of followers and friends.

Anyway, get out and about today. Enjoy it. As for me, I'm waiting on Walmart to open so I can grab some groceries as is my usual Sunday custom..

    Wayne

Wayne, I have NEVER used Twitter. I, too, object to the damage done to the written word.

Your Wal-Mart is open today?? I bet you will find it the least crowded of all times! I don't use twitter. I don't like the silly language either and I don't have a purpose for using it.

LOL, I use it, only via computer, and definitely do not shorten any words. Ever. Usually it is to compliment an actor who did a great job on that particular day. I have complained to the headwriter, though.

I have never used Twitter and am not big on social media sites (i.e. Myspace, Facebook) at all.

You know, I'm jealous your Wal-Mart is open as mine is closed until 5am Monday.

re: Walmart -- Mine might be closed as well. Dunno, but it would be awfully un-walmarty for them to forego sticking someone on duty to rake in money. :)

I don't use it, Wayne. I always say tweets are for twits.

I don't care or want to know that someone is standing in line somewhere, just got out of the shower, ate lunch, etc.
The only time I read anything from twitter is when someone reposts a tweet about Days.

@ Christina - I'm not putting down your tweeting. Your's are for a good cause and business. I was referring to the inane tweeting.

And I agree about the inane tweeting. There are some Days actors who do just that, which is why I rarely go to my twitter account online, have no idea how to do it via a cell phone or whatever they use. Honestly, who cares if you stub your toe, are in party mode with friends, or getting dressed, waiting for your plane to take off, land or board, watching a sporting event, etc. LOL

i only follow other sensible ones, celebrity or otherwise. if they get spammy or lame, they get unfollowed.
i always have something worthwhile to tweet. i tweet at least once a day...sometimes i skip a day.
i see tweets that spam and have like a million followers and i just finally broke 100.

In the more than 20 years I've been "playing" on a computer, I've been many, many places out there...but not Twitter and I don't think I plan to from what I see of it! I think this is a great forum and it's where I enjoy being at this time.

Boy we are all so much alike... I went grocery shopping too and I only tweet from my computer when I think of it. I really don't know how to navigate Twitter very well, but I know how to find someone by name! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

lol I gotta find a new pic my tree looks like it belongs to Super Mario...anyway Yes I use Twitter for entertainment. I do NOT like having to shorten words I feel a little silly but I have had a little luck at getting replies from the entertainment world (unless its the hired help I'm unknowingly tweeting to ) I do follow the Spectator

Yes, I do use Twitter, a lot, but wasn't aware SalemSpectator was on there so I will definitely go and follow. I follow all different types; local friends (to see who is where when), celebs (all kinds), work friends, social media friends, other drag queens, follow fans back, news (local and national, world) and networking. Heck, my timeline is a mish mosh of all kinds of stuff. hahahaha

The abbreviating doesn't bother me much anymore. It used to get to me when I started tweeting, but I guess I got used to it and don't have much trouble reading/deciphering them.

I have a twitter account and never use it. I signed up so I could get updates on when the kids would be getting back from band functions. But they use facebook now so twitter is useless for me.

JCapo how the heck do you have the time to even begin to keep up with all that? LOL. I have a twitter account that I maybe visit once a week. Actually, since my computer got wiped out, have not been there. But mostly cuz I only follow Days actors, and they are on hiatus, so there is nothing going on of interest. I honestly do not care about their parties, pub crawling, sitting in airports, watching sports.

I follow people on twitter, but can't for the life of me figure out to get people to follow me... If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know... ;)

@Poirot I mainly use it on my Android phone. I can't even start to remember the last time I actually logged in from my computer.

I do not use twitter and wish that the Tweet section at the bottom of this page was not there. I get a nasty warning message from our main office everytime I get on a page that has it at the bottom and I am only allowed so many warnings before I get into trouble. Therefore, I cannot post or read posts as much as I used to.
