Apparently it's time to move in...

    Hey guys,

For a year now, I've been living in my current place, holding off on furniture and stuff until I knew whether I was here to stay, or just passing through. Apparently it's now the former, as I just added my second (and third) pieces of real furniture to the humble abode.

Not to plug, but both it, and it's sister Chest are from the "Savannah" collection at Value City Furniture (vcf.com) and I got them for a really good deal when I caught the store in a major pricing error. Between the $400 error and a 10% coupon, how could I resist?

BTW, I'm using the dresser as an entry-way table, and it's ***MUCH*** lighter than in the picture, where it looks almost black (it's cherry)..

Between the dresser/chest, the Durham side tables I got out of the back room at Value City for $99 -- which I'm using as bed side tables -- and the "Andres" Wicker headboard I got on sale at Target.com a few weeks ago (link here), I'd hope I'm off to a good start.

$10,000 more dollars and I might actually want to live here :) Of course now I'll have to move :)

Hey, it's beginning to look like "home". Just tell me...is there a TV and recliner?? Actually, have been looking for something like that for quite a while. Not the mirror, just the chest.

The 50" Plasma TV ($600 a year ago, cheaper now) and the Leather Sectional sofa were -- until recently -- the only "real" pieces of furniture in the apartment. The rest being throwaway pieces like a coffee-table and dressing bench. I use the coffee table as the TV stand and the dressing bench as the coffee-table. How weird is that?

Anyway, the dresser and chest fit perfectly in the spots I have them in, so take a look at the Value City site (linked above). I have no idea if you have one near you, but they have decent -- albeit not "heirloom" -- quality furniture for sometimes decent prices. Gotta watch out for price switching like I found though. Saved me several hundred dollars.

Also, don't be afraid to do regular drive-byes of the "back rooms" at most furniture shops. Unless you're looking for heirloom furniture, you're going to scratch it anyway... :)

The funny thing? The dresser in the entry way? I have ZERO idea what I'll store in it, but it just looks perfect for that spot, and it's EXACTLY the right size to plop my keys and phone on at the end of the day.. :)

    Very nice, Wayne.
The dresser looks like the perfect place to keep extra computer / printer supplies, linens, towels, sweatshirts, etc.

I'd never heard of them either until I got here. They were recommended and I bought my sectional from them on the very first visit (last President's day sale as a matter of fact) because of the way it was presented. May already have to replace it, but that's 1/2 want and 1/2 because I tend to lay on it most of the time rather than sitting on it as you should.

As such, considering my weight, I seem to have worn it out, which isn't a statement against Value City or their furniture and more of a "keep losing weight dummy" type comment.
