Just found this via Jason47, my first Early Edition summary...got a big kick reading this. I do remember that while this was a guest spot, first Laney, then Linda went on vacation, and I filled in...became permanent. And just a month after this began, I was injured in an auto accident, in a cast, etc. etc. Please note the tape date is 8/1...the air date 8/30. LOL

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30th***
Hattie appears with her new "do", and lots of interaction among the characters

Episode #8876, CVT: 8/1/00, Directed by Herb Stein

Bo & Hope are still in the back yard as Bo tries to make Hope aware that she was not like herself in her year as Princess Gina. Hope cannot accept that Bo is not the father of Baby John, and Bo backs off from declaring it is so. He again brings up Stefano's vendetta against the Bradys, and tells Hope of Vic's discovery of the Irish connection. He also insists he is going to Dublin to find out exactly what happened a generation or two ago, but will wait until Vic returns, in order to use his resources.

John is driving to the police station, having memories of his very mean mercenary self. At the station, Abe is showing Roman pictures of little Isaac, and they talk a bit about Baby John, & Eric. Abe hints to Roman about Bo being so unsettled about the time Hope spent as Gina. John bursts in, says he wants his boy, and is yelling and hollaring at both Abe and Roman. (Most police would have this unruly guy in cuffs already, citing disorderly conduct). Seems Brady was brought in for giving a liquor store owner a hard time, after being carded while trying to purchase beer. John slams furniture, throws stuff around and is totally obnoxious. Abe leaves and Roman tells John that Brady has some serious problems, and perhaps Sami & Will should not come to the penthouse until Brady gets his act together. Roman and John get into it, as John cites Sami as not being too nice herself,(an understatement) and Roman says, well you raised her. They both again blame Stefano for how different their lives might be. John goes to spring Brady, who of course, smart mouths immediately, and pushes all the right buttons to get John going once more.

At the diner, Hattie is wearing a scarf over her head. Faye asks if she did something different to her hair.....and demands to see it. Off comes the scarf, and Hattie's hair is shoulder length...Faye remarks that Hattie has been growing her hair for soo long and Faye says yes, since the 70s, (Wouldn't it have been down to her butt by now? LOL) but she was tired of the bun. Faye remarks how much she looks like Marlena now (uh, wasn't that why she cut it?)....and Hattie gets very angry, breaking a pitcher of water. The diner owner yells at them both, Faye cleans it up, while the owner and Hattie yell at each other. Abe & Roman come in, and Roman is struck immediately with how much Hattie resembles Marlena. They have a short conversation, where Hattie again voices how much she hates Doc and she would like to shoot her. Faye talks to Abe about Brandon, and Abe reminds her how much Faye helped him at times in their past.

Over in Italy, where it miraculously seems to be the same time of evening, (guess the writers forgot about the time zones), Moroni arrives at Vic & Kate's, making arrangements for Lucas to work in the restaurant's kitchen. Moroni is still making eyes at Kate. They all talk of how you have to keep an eye on children. Moroni mentions Angela being in Salem where his former employee, Franco Kelly, was killed in some mansion. Thus Vic and Kate get their first inkling of perhaps Angela's involvement. Kate bring out her surfer dude son, Lucas. Moroni takes him to the restaurant, introduces him to the chef. When asked about being ready to tackle all the dishes in the back, Lucas gives a "two thumbs up" , and Moroni slaps his hands down, saying hey, that is NOT a universal gesture. LOL

Out in the garden, Brandon is smooth talking Angela to get more information about Roberto and Franco, even mentioning marrying her. (This is right after he says he brought his girlfriend there to propose to her!!) Angela gets all excited, and prodded by Brandon, says Roberto did not kill Franco, but that he admitted doing so for money. Then she wants to know why he is asking all these questions...and eavesdropping Sami, recognizing her cue, rushes out to snuggle up to Brandon, saying how hungry she is. They kiss, and Angela leaves. When Sami and Brandon come up for air, he insists Angela is hiding in the shrubbery, spying, and they lock lips a few more times. (That Brandon sure can smooze the women!)

They both enter the restaurant where Lucas is clearing tables. Sami asks about the spice they put in the spaghetti, "arabiatta", and says she will order spaghetti with extra arabiatta. Lucas pulls out the "herbs" that Vic gave him, and says, "oh, yes, I have just the extra spice for you.".
