    After falling in love with Crab cakes as of late, I'm about to see how making his own crab cake dinner goes. Rice, veggies, and crab. What could possibly go wrong? :)

    Update: Success!

    1 boil-in-bag of brown rice: 50 cents, 4 points (I ate half)
    1 bag of frozen stir fry vegetables: $1.50 -- 2 points (again, ate half)
    2 crab cake patties: $5.00 -- 5 points per 2
    4 tsp of Target brand "General Tso's sauce" -- what... 10 cents? -- 2 points

    So, for about $7.10 and about 10 minutes work, I just had a huge plate full of crab cakes, rice, and veggies, done EXACTLY the way I want it, which cost me (dietary-wise), 13 points. The General Tso's sauce on the rice made the day... Gotta remember how I did made it for later. Not only that, but I still have 1/2 of an entire plate of veggies and rice left over for chicken tomorrow.. EXCELLENT...

    Not sure why -- under PointsPlus -- the vegetables aren't zero points, but I'm just going by the label and using the calculator. It's possible that it was a 11 point meal....

    It's fun to be creative some times, but now I have to do dishes. :)

    Your dinner sounds like my kind of meal, Wayne. I love crab cakes. I have rice with vegetables about 4 times a week, too.

    Did you use the premade crabe cakes? or make your own from scratch?

    @Redsquirrel,

    I happened to be at the local grocer yesterday and saw them, 2 pack for $4.99. I don't suppose that similar stores would have crab cakes in the mid-west, but on the coast as I am now, they're seemingly plentiful. Weightwatchers.com has a good, low point recipe for them as well if you can find the crab meat.

    I usually buy the package of 4 Phillips' crab cakes in our local grocery store. I try to get to a Phillips' whenever I'm in Maryland (Baltimore or Ocean City). Last June, I ate at my favorite one at Inner Harbor, Baltimore. That location closed the next day. They built a new restaurant in the Power Plant.

    The only time I'd ever even HEARD of a Phillips, it was in the airports between Norfolk and Huntsville. Ate there once, but wasn't terribly impressed. Airport prices probably had a lot to do with it.

    Phillips restaurants are definitely over priced, but I can get the package of 4 crab cakes on sale for $4.00. Then I stock up. I wish they packaged their lobster and crab stuffed ravioli......heavenly.
