But that piece of disinformation from Stefano would mainly serve to cause Clyde to try even harder to get Abby/Ben hitched. It is a puzzlement, to me!

Perhaps Stefano knew this, and figured that Clyde and Ben would do something criminal to keep Chad away from Abigail, which can later be revealed to her and she will want nothing to do with the Westons and will reunite with Chad...a stretch, I know, but that's Days for ya.

I also think the Ireland thing is a made-up sham by Stefano.
