Actually I just learned this is quite common. It's cheaper to have a service do it. (Same logic behind the cable company hiring some other company to do repairs, etc.) I recently worked with someone who managed a firm that did laundry for hotels, hospitals, etc. I assumed that everyone did it in house, not so. *The more you know*** LOL

Now don't go thinking that I am suggesting the writers researched this at all. If Daniel had needed a nuclear submarine to escape with Kristen, the writers would have come up with some contrivance to get him one, or have him make one, etc. This was probably a lucky guess on their part. :)
