Days of Our Lives - Fri., Feb. 6, 2015

So in the real word.LOL thinking that the real world would have any place in Salem, shouldn't the Salem PD be out looking at pawn shops looking for the goods?? But I guess with John in Chicago doing whatever it is that he needs to do and Hope in Washington State on her way to Tahiti, that would be too lowly of a job for Roman, Chief of Police.

It is a surprise that Salem PD wasn't at the Pawn Shops, but..maybe they are, and we don't know it. I really thought the questioning by both Roman and Abe was really "off". The cops have been talking about this one area of the park which HAD been off limits to drug dealers, sort of an agreement among them all, but had become infested (Clyde's doing) so they were going to patrol more, etc.

Kinda weird that John didn't tell Marlena he was leaving on an assignment.. but whatever. Not like I expected them to have any sort of communication anyway.
Right? Also kinda weird that the Salem PD sent one of its new uniforms to an assignment in CHICAGO...oy vey this show!!!

...... except the parts where Nicole was treated like a pariah. First Melanie (who, thankfully backed down), then Brady, who was quick to think Nicole had said something to Melanie to make her cry...
Right. There. With. You. I officially hate Brady and want him to leave Salem forever, preferably in a body bag. Not only did his immediate assumption that Nicole had harmed his precious flower tick me off, it reminded me how at one time Melanie was a stronger character. (Even though I never liked her, they've really turned her into the idiot heroine/damsel-in-distress trope.)
And again... I like Adrienne and Lucas. Let's see where this goes. I mean, we often complain about the disgusting pairings on this show (Kate/Rafe, JJ/Eve, Kristen/Brady, Kristen/Daniel almost hitting the sheets, etc.), this is actually a pairing that is slowly moving along, and it could be good in the long run. To say that Adrienne should not be with Lucas, to me, is sad for the character and the actress. After all, the actor playing Justin is not available most of the time, so why not give two vets more storylines ? If it means a divorce between Justin and Adrienne (whom I used to love) because Justin abandons his wife constantly, so be it. Why not ? Plus, we've also complained about Adrienne only being on to butt in on Sonny and Will's relationship. Now that there is more to her character, I for one love it. And of course, I love Lucas. So it's a win-win situation, and it's in accordance to what happens in soaps. It's the drama I expect from soaps (much better than foetus stealing or guy sleeps with his girlfriend's mother).
I agree. Totally. But I'll throw in that I'd rather see Justin back in town full time but then that would take away from the wonder that is the Daniel and Melanie Jonas Hour, wouldn't it?

...I had to laugh when I saw Sonny's name outside of his hospital room. I just spent 8 days in the hospital, and only my alias number was displayed in the hallway. ...
Odd...around here, unless otherwise directed, the names are displayed on people's doors, to make it easier for visitors to find them. You can ask to have your name hidden, though. Again, that's my area of the country and different hospitals have different methods of protecting patient information. In Salem, NONE, LOL.

Kind of a letdown after yesterday's show. The staggered pace was a bit too much, and then the toddler and the drunk deciding now was the time to boink...BARF. And I fastforwarded as well, but it looked like Blockbuster Porn to me. (My friend who used to work at BlockBuster Video would call Blockbuster Porn, the level below soft core, clothes included, but just as dirty, YUCK.)

WHEN did Sonny & Abby pull these "pranks" she speaks of? When he was climbing K-2, and she was in London? She's spent nearly her entire life in Salem, and he spent none of it there until 2011. Nice try, writers, but you missed the mark.

The show's been surprising me lately, and I honestly don't know if Paul & Will will figure things out on Monday or not. This story's been moving at a nice clip...unlike Eric/Serena and Hope/Aiden...so maybe the gears will shift??? I will give the writers kudos in this area, because it's pretty hard to keep me guessing like this. (I believe in credit when it's due.)

Okay. So Will was allowed to visit with Sonny, just out of surgery, because he is Sonny's husband. It makes no sense that Paul Narita can just meander over and into Sonny's room, even before Sonny's mother is allowed in to see him. Ridiculous. But then, anybody who wants to wander into private patient rooms, listen to private patient conversations, or hear about somebody's medical needs discussed publicly before an audience at the nurse's amphitheatre can do so in Salem University Hospital. And the parks. Churches. Doorways. etc.

Good point Susala!! Only in Salem, right? UNLESS the writers redeem themselves and have Adrienne or somebody else see him before he can enter...? (I really hope so, I hope Adrienne lets Paul have it.)

After all, when everything falls into place, Paul is no innocent in this stabbing. (NOTE: This is not to say I think Paul is in any way culpable!!!)

I thought Nicole was totally pointless in this episode. Although I guess the writers figured she hadn't been beaten down nearly enough so decided to include her so she could take verbal assaults from Melanie, Brady, Victor, and Daniel. Did I forget anyone? Marlena seemed slightly out of place as well although I get her being there for Will because of Sonny. I just found her conversation with Ben odd and then the way she looked down her nose at Chad. I don't know, maybe it was just me. I thought the direction of the scene when Kayla came out of surgery to talk to the family was oddly done. She walked over to the nurses station with a clipboard and then just kind of casually looked up when Will or whoever called over to her. Just weird. I'm glad Justin is on his way back to Salem. I felt a little bad for Paul when he realized Sonny was hurt. I think Adrienne will stop him from entering Sonny's room but I feel like Will or Paul will find out who the other is to Sonny very soon.

I think Brady and Melanie were in a room at the K - Mansion but maybe it was a hotel. I don't know, I FF'd their scenes. Barf city.

Lucky you, to FF, I sort of tuned out, I heard them talking about a hotel, and that is where I thought they were, because Melanie squealed how much she just loves hotels. But then they were in a room, and I just could not imagine then taking advantage of Vic & Maggie's absence to hit the sheets there.
And is it not just amazing how when Salemites are sad for any reason, they have to have sex. Brady was talking to Maggie of knowing how the perp must have felt, and how he thanks God every day that he is sober. Melanie was crying on Nicole's shoulder......and then........YUK.

Okay, watched it. Decent episode. But again, why didn't Nurse Maxine put the fear of Hades into Paul to lie down and stay put after he gave extra blood? We all know she's capable of it. Seems a little out of character for her, Maxine is the only competent nurse in the hospital most of the time. To leave Paul alone with a couple of Capri Suns or whatever? Not likely. And then he's free to wander the halls looking for Sonny's room...which just has Sonny's name plastered right on the door? Victor KNOWS what's up, he wouldn't have the staff sworn to secrecy at the very least?
And speaking of unsupervised...Mel and Brady...ewwwww. Thank goodness for fast forward.

I fast forwarded Brady and Mel too. I closed my eyes on the flashbacks
with the guys.

Interesting to see Sonny's name on the door. Almost as bad as leaving
their medical file outside the door. It was odd to see the no smoking sign
on the door. I don't think smoking is allowed in any hospital or doctor's
office anymore.

I'm glad Justin finally called home.

We heard another name from the past Dario.

Nice to see Marlena be there for Will. Too bad John out of town.

Chad seemed nicer than usual today.

I liked the end scene of Will talking to Sonny.

We have 'NO SMOKING' signs at our hospitals and other medical facilities around here, and we're just minutes from Salem (give or take depending on DA PLOT...) LOL.

I just had a thought - we haven't seen much of Kate, have we? I feel like this is the longest stretch in a while, and while I don't loathe her the way I do other characters, I can't really say I miss her, either...?

Okay, sounds like a good show pretty much all around, except the two fronts people keep bringing up: the needless bashing of Nicole (and she really had no reason to be there) and the nasty romp between Nurse Betty Boop and Brady. And is this another case of grief sex? How can they just go at it like that while her close friend--and Brady's cousin--is lying in the hospital? Strange. Same thing with Abby & Ben just going back to dinner.

I thought Nicole was totally pointless in this episode. Although I guess the writers figured she hadn't been beaten down nearly enough so decided to include her so she could take verbal assaults from Melanie, Brady, Victor, and Daniel.
These days, it seems the only point to having Nicole appear in an episode is so that somebody can get on their morally-superior high horse and dump on her. That said, it's a good thing that sleazy Miles, Nicole's boss, doesn't know all the details of the Sonny stabbing. Otherwise, he'd be after her to write an article under the headline: "Local Club Owner Stabbed While Going to Confront Husband About Affair with Star Pitcher!!!" As for the overheated Brady and Betty Boop, their erotic contortions were certainly prime FF material, and the inclusion of their exercise in lust seemed particularly jarring when inserted into an episode that was almost entirely devoted to a near tragedy.

You noticed it was night-time...which means that Maxine was working an extra shift or whatever...so she was a "bit tired and didn't realize what was going on with visiting privileges!! :tsk:

And, now...we got the ultimate "pregnant pause"....Paul puts his hand on the door to Sonny's room...will he turn the handle? Will he go in? Will he see Will? Will we ever know?? Tune in on Monday (or maybe it'll be Tuesday or Wednesday) before we see the conclusion of that magical moment!!

I've said in the past that I'm not necessarily opposed to Brady and Melanie but I do have some qualms with what transpired today. First off we have yet to see these two have a meaningful conversation about moving their friendship to the "next level." Every attempt they've made to have one has felt like Brady is a seventh grader scuffing his shoe along the pavement and hanging his head while awkwardly asking the girl he has a crush to the junior high mixer while the girl-Melanie-blushes and giggles.

Plus the fact that they choose to deal with almost losing someone they care about to a meaningless act of violence by doing the wild thing is not something I find particularly endearing. And of course they haven't even gone on a successful date yet. I have a feeling we're just getting Ben and Abigail 2.0 and is there anyone who really wants to see that? *Looks around* No I didn't think so.

I'm starting to wonder how much more abuse is Nicole going have to take before finally snapping by taking an gun and starts mowing down some of these fools while shouting "I've taken all I can stands and I can't stands no more!" No I don't know why she would quote Popeye, but then again why wouldn't she?

I feel like I'm the only person that just does not care about Sonny being stabbed. Like... I've been trying to care, but I just don't. After so many injuries in this show and going through the works over and over again I'm just.... yawn.

Jason, I'm sure your hospital has signs all over. I thought it was interesting
it was on Sonny's door. I can't remember now if other areas at University
hospital has signs or not. I think there are a couple.

Sonny's stabbing was sort of boring, but the after effects are going
to be around awhile. Victor is on the warpath. Will realizes how
much he loves Sonny. And Paul's blood donation will probably
in question.

They used to check blood when it's donated to make sure a person
isn't sick or has disease. I hope Salem University does that.
