An exciting show, kudos to everyone involved, all were terrific, as Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid have a gunfight at the O.K. Corral (better known as the Warehouse district.

Replay of the entire Horton square scenes of thursday 9/29/16 show. Everyone ducks down, panic, yells, guns are aimed at the window where the shot came from. Theo is crying over his dad, Hope stopping Ciara from going there, Kayla insists on going to help Abe, crawling over, as does Marlena (despite their men's objections). Abe is bleeding pretty badly, ambulance has been called, Kayla is trying to staunch the flow of blood, Ciara is holding the sobbing Theo. John has lost his phone.....but finds it and sees that he has the signal from Claire's necklace. He calls to Steve, and off they go.

Ciara wants to go to the hospital to be with Theo, Hope says no, Ciara convinces her, so Hope has a cop take her. Marlena has gone with Theo & Kayla in the ambulance.

Clyde has packed up his gun into that suitcase and left the hotel, leaving nothing behind but a shell casing for Rafe to find as he & JJ search the room.

Orpheus is telling Xander how stupid Clyde, who bragged of his shooting ability, hit the wrong man. They figure Clyde won't come directly there, but they have to wait a while. Orpheus thinks perhaps the mistake was a good thing after all, everyone scared, with come up with ransom faster.

Claire is busily trying to loosen her bonds, is cutting thru them on something. She is no longer gagged, but Joey still is, he keeps glancing at her sawing away. Xander notices something, he & Orpheus rush over to where Claire & Joey sit, see the necklace in Joey's hands. Claire quickly says it is hers, that he picked it up when he fell over. Orpheus takes a look, drops it to the floor, stomps on it, noting it had a GPS in it. He is angry. Outside, John & Steve have arrived, are deciding on a plan, negating Steve wanting to go in shooting....not with the kids in there. John realizes that the necklace was found when he loses the signal. Gunshots ring out, they are firing back, behind boxes, barrels, etc. They move a bit, still firing back and forth. They realize there now is only one gun firing, John says "Did you get lucky, Sundance". LOLOL

Inside the warehouse, Claire & Joey hear the gunshots, she has gotten free, runs over to get Joey free. They hear someone returning, sit back pretending to be still tied up. Xander has come in, telling the kids they are leaving this place, and the kids are coming with them. He is stuffing clothes & things into a duffle bag. Joey jumps up, so does Claire. Joey attacks Xander, pushes Claire out the door...Run....closes it after her, wrestles a bit with Xander, who easily pushes him off, hits him on the head with his gunj. Down goes Joey.

Outside, the two guys are still firing, are in a corner by a window, Claire comes running past them, they grab her, pull her in. No, Joey is still inside. Steve wants to go after, John says no. They have to leave NOW, and will come back. They manage to scoot out of the area.

At the hospital, Abe is brought in, taken to surgery, Kayla has called in another surgeon. Marlena is there with the frantic Theo, trying to keep him calm. Ciara arrives, talks a bit, but her encouraging words upset Theo, he walks off. Ciara asks Marlena if any word on Claire & Joey. Not so far. Kayla learns that the bullet exploded into many fragments when it hit Abe, so they are everywhere. Surgeons doing their best. Ciara calls Hope, she has no word on Claire & Joey either. Will call her.

Theo returns, Ciara apologizes, Theo knows she was trying to be nice. He talks of how he & his dad have been so together since Mom died.

Kayla comes out finally, Abe is out of surgery, Kayla explains to Theo about the bullet fragments, how there could be a couple in the wall of heart, specialist coming from Chicago, Abe in recovery. Theo starts to cry, as his father could still die. He then sits beside his dad's bed. Long flashback of father/son conversation evidently Ciara vandalized that kid's car. Abe is saying Ciara bad influence on Theo, but Theo did not know her plan, would have talked her out of it, tells his dad he is a good influence on Ciara. Abe notes..."it happened. The boy is gone. You are a young man". He holds his dad's hand as Ciara watches thru the window.

Marlena's phone has no messages. Kayla comes up, they talk of the long day from hell. Not gonna get them down. They are strong, are not going to let this all beat them. Damn right!

At the cop shop, video of the square is gone over, Rafe spots Clyde in his baseball cap disguise, but notes different clothes. Where did they get that stuff. He tells Hope he saw Aiden go over, say something, Hope looked upset. She claims she doesn't remember, too much happening all at once. Claire rushes in, hugging Hope......(and are you all sitting down? She calls her GRAM, not just once, several times. Wonder of wonders). Hugs, soothing words, worries about Joey.

JJ came in, has some intel....says Abe was not the target, it was Aiden, who doesn't seem all that concerned. Later, Hope sees he is alone, suggests since he was the target, he might want to get out of town for a while, go see Chase. Aiden grins, Nope, he is staying right here. And still wants to talk to her about what he said earlier. He knows she killed Stefano.

John & Steve burst into the warehouse with a few cops, it is empty. They are gone. Steve sees a few drops of blood on the floor, he touches one spot, figures it is Joey's blood. With clenched teeth, he says I will kill them. I will kill every single one of them.

I've gotta say I did NOT see Claire running in to Hope in the final scene coming at all. I was expecting John to bring her to Marlena. And Claire calling Hope "Gran" not once but twice?! Color me impressed! And Hope reciprocating as well by calling Claire "Baby" just like she did to Ciara earlier. Well done. FINALLY!! Looking forward to her reunion with Marlena too.

I also think a Claire/Theo/Ciara triangle has been well set up now.

Great acting all around today. Kyler Pettis (Theo) needs to be nominated for an Emmy next year. And we got a Lani AND a Brandon mention too!! Will either of them come to Salem now?

I liked Joey trying to act like Steve and fight off Xander even though it was also idiotic.

Nice to see both Kayla and Marlena treating Abe at the scene. And also nice that Marlena was the one to accompany Theo to the hospital. Even inserting Ciara into the scenes later on and mentioning Claire was appropriate.

Black Patch is just fun all around. I felt like I was watching scenes from the early 90s.

Good job this week with continuity and storytelling. It's still not great but it's gotten much better. And the focus is definitely starting to trend towards the right characters. Now let's have Belle and Shawn come back to Salem so we have more of a gap generation between vets and teens.

I had to just give so much credit to John & Steve (actually, the actors). They really had a very small space in which to portray the gunfight, moving around, rolling over to safety, etc. But they managed to convey lots of action.

I definitely thought Theo (Kyler Pettis) was outstanding today. I wish I knew why I felt that flashback Theo had of him & his dad was something newly filmed??? Was good, just did not remember that conversation in the past.

Joey was called "stoic", and that he was, emulating dear ol dad. I liked that Claire was the one who got free, & untied Joey.....but Joey then shoving her out the door as he tried to deal with/delay Xander was absolutely something his father would have done.

I also would have liked if they had tried to differentiate the set where John and Steve were from the alley where Orpheus confronted Marlena and Claire. It looked exactly the same. And those double doors look like they are from the hallway of the old loft set, complete with brick wall.

Wow! 2 Grans! It was an exciting episode, but I still wonder why John & Steve didn't go there without the cops in the first place.
Good point. Unlike many past episodes, whose intent seemed to be to put the viewers to sleep, this one was an attention grabber. That said, poor Roman must be fit to spit over do-it-yourself efforts by private citizens to take out the Orpheus Gang. Presumably, if Roman knew that John and Steve had a positive fix on the bad guys, a small army of cops, including dead-shot Hope and pistol-packing JJ, would have descended on the scene -- enough to ensure that the evil trio couldn't slip away. And if John and Steve want to continue their private war with Orpheus, they probably ought to consider a weapons upgrade -- perhaps the M60 machine gun carried by the marine Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket.

Animal Mother: "Hey Patch, John,
get yourselves one of these!"

It wasn't, it aired on 5/10/2016. That was one of my summaries, which is why you might not have recognised it right away. :)

This should be a sweeps episode. Why is it airing at the end of September? Very good directing, strong pacing, excellent characterisation, and just enough mentions of important off-screen relatives to feel realistic, but not heavy.

Another good episode.

I'm glad Claire said something to Grandma Hope. I thought she said Gran, but closed captioning had it Gram

Nurse Jackie was on today. In one scene, they had her name as Blanca in closed captioning. I wonder if they decided not to
have Blanca there.

Claire saved herself getting untied and then she helped Joey. I'm not surprised someone noticed her looking
at Joey. She did it too much yesterday.

It was funny when talked about how Clyde was suppose to be an experienced hunter and he missed his
target. I bet Hope is upset he missed Aiden.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised Rafe and JJ arrived too late to the room where Clyde was.

Poor Theo. I hope Abe will be ok.

Good show, very soapy.

I feel bad Joey got pistol whipped because that hurts.

I hope Abe is not back burnered with his gunshot.

Hopefully the Carver family gets some support as Abe heals.

I like the British nurse, they've used her a few times before, and I think she's pretty good. I liked her scenes with Kayla, and having a familiar nurse pads out the hospital a bit.

I LOVE that they are mentioning people off screen now. I don't even like Brandon or Lani that much, but it makes sense that they'd need to be informed and it takes 10 seconds to mention them, so yay for that. They did one yesterday too where they mentioned Jeremiah and I thought the same, he was loyal to Clyde at the time and that was unlikely to have changed so props to the writing team for using his name as the source for the gun. Its the little things which make me happy.

All up I continue to be happy with pretty much the whole show, the pacing is way better than it was this time last year.
