Fun & games at the prison today. Neat place where the inmates get to spend most of their time in the recreation room, I guess. LOL. Hattie & Hope are playing cards, talking about what put Hattie in jail. She had commented she often thought of whacking Stefano herself, thanked Hope for having done it. Well, it seems Hattie had a nice, secretarial job in Chicago, was doing great. Met a guy, tallish, dark, handsomeish, they got along great, it was all wonderful. Then one day she came to work, place full of cops, seems millions of dollars had been embezzled, all traced from her computer to some off shore account. She could never prove she had nothing to do with it, and the day before this happened, the boyfriend left her. Yep, she thought it might be him, but just did not want to deal with that. Hope promises to try and help her.

The two nasty prisoners had come in, whispering away int he corner about doing Hope in. And then in comes a big, nasty looking prisoner. Hattie introduces Chille to Hope, but Chille, who already got the word from those other two, promptly tells Hope she is sitting in her chair, she wants it back. Hattie gets up, lots of bluffing going on, then Chille pulls out a "shank" (guess it is sort of a home made knife??) but Hope goes into action, knocks it out of her hand, throws it to Hattie, and suddenly there is Deimos, clapping for a job well done.

So, earlier, Ciara & Claire are babbling away on the Kiriakis sofa, Victor is listening. Claire is moaning about her mom on the phone, not understanding her, blah, blah. Ciara says "oh, you poor, poor thing", & Claire is contrite, apologizes to Ciara, since her mom is in jail. Ciara mentions how her mom only went to Stefano's because she thought he was the one who tortured her dad, and that person is still out there. Deimos has overheard them. He leaves (see above). When Ciara leaves the room, Claire starts yakking to PopPop (Victor) how she has no money, he gave Ciara a trust fund, Vic points out she refused it. Claire pouts a bit, saying well, she will probably have one from Grampa John. Victor smiles, as Claire goes on about only getting a small allowance, and has a project, needs money for it. She manages to worm $200 from Victor and takes off.

At the hospital, Valeries is pleased with Abe's progress, won't have to see him for a month. Theo comes in, says St. Lukes has the worse trees, he scouted around. Abe explains that when Lexie was alive they always went to a lot, buying the worse looking tree, because they felt sorry for it, took it home, decorated it big time. Valerie thinks that is really sweet, Theo asks Val to come with them. They evidently picked out the saddest looking tree (the lot delivers). Abe goes to get coffee for them, while Theo tries to get Valerie's phone working again. He does, sees a text message from (I thought he said Eli, but it could have been Levi) , he takes a pic with his phone. Val & Abe return, he gives her phone back to her, yep, got it working.

Later, he sits with Claire, shows her the pic he took. The message talks of missing her so much. They both agree it sounds like another man, Claire brags of getting the money from Victor, and now she can buy the spy equipment they need. And then, previously, at Theo's urging, Ciara makes arrangements to meet an online date guy. Yep, tis our very own Rory, she about has a fit, knows he is a druggie. LOL at Rory, who still wants to go for coffee. She says no, but then agrees to have breakfast. He is filling his face but good, as they sit. but......Ciara is not eating. - too busy watching Theo & Claire at the next table.

Over at the cop shop, Rafe & Shawn are going through Stefano's e-mails, finds one from GEorge who says he needs to see him immediately. Kate comes in, oh, yes, that is his doctor, George Kline. They fill her in, she calls the doc, but when she wants to talk of Stefano's illness and death, he hangs up on her. Now the guys find out Stefano wrote a huge check to an ins. company 3 weeks before Hope went to his house, but cancelled it, even before he got rejected by the ins. company. Kate calls Austin, giving him access to all the financial records, etc. The guys learn that Stefano was transferring money from the corporate account to his personal one, and mention he had no personal funds, Sami took it all. They do speculate that Stefano may have realized he was dying, Kate mentions he would never "wait for that", and the guys think he purposely made Hope think he was responsible for Bo's torture, goaded her, knew she would reach a breaking point. Yep, they do call it suicide, and figure Justin may be able to get her off/out with that.

Back to the prison, where Deimos asked the ladies to all leave, he wants to talk to Hope privately. They all leave, he mentions having told her that it was him, not Stefano (after Stefano was dead), spent time in prison himself, knows how hard it is, and he was innocent. She notes she is not. He still wants to help her, and will do all he can to do so.

He is gone, Hattie returns, as do the two vengeance seeking women, who now threaten Hope, but in comes Chille, who tells them to back off, she has taken a fancy to this one, so no harm to her. Hattie finds out from her that the home guard is paying her big bucks to keep Hope safe.

At the Kmansion, Deimos is on the phone, making sure that the prisoner hired will do the job, Deimos has seen her, tough cookie. He will send a check every week, just wants her safe. Victor has heard some of this, and realizes Deimos is protecting Hope, thanks him. Deimos feels that he is to blame, Bo died......but Vic assures him that Bo's cancer was untreatable, just as Isabella's was. Victor assume some guilt for all that went down, as he sent Bo on the mission that ended up with him being held prisoner. Deimos is taken aback at Victor's statements, and admission of guilt, including being sorry for all that Deimos himself went through.

Hattie tells Hope that usually it takes prisoners years before they could get the kind of protection Hope has gotten in just one day. Hope figures it must be Deimos. Hattie notes she won't be needing her any more.....starts to leave, Hope says no, we are friends. you stay, I am going to do all I can to help you. They knock fists. Hattie smiles.

True, but wasn't he some sort of Financial Forensic wizard the last time he returned? Kate now calls him an accountant.

So, Austin is in Switzerland but is the only person able to work on Stefano's financial records in Salem. Ahhhh, the Soap world is just so magical, isn't it? LOL

Yes, he was a forensic accountant the last time they were in Salem. But remember when he couldn't figure out how to do stuff on the computer so Abby showed him? He was teaching a class at Salem U. That's when he hired her as his teaching assistant or intern.

Austin was a forensic accountant during his most recent return in 2012. This is not a new development. That is why Kate called him to review the financials. I know it's far fetched but I actually thought it was a clever use of the show's history. Too much to ask for Austin and his wife to come to Salem to help with the investigation?

Vic assures him that Bo's cancer was untreatable, just as Isabella's was. Victor assume some guilt for all that went down, as he sent Bo on the mission that ended up with him being held prisoner. Deimos is taken aback at Victor's statements, and admission of guilt, including being sorry for all that Deimos himself went through.

:angry::angry:What is going on here???? No way Victor would condone the person responsible for keeping Bo locked up or being kept from medical treatment. I'm not buying this Deimos has reformed nonsense one bit. Shame on the writers today.

And what was up with Deimos today? First he was eavesdropping on Victor and the girls, then he goes to see Hope and then the Victor conversation? So Deimos is the new know it all in town who has to be inserted into everybody else's business. NO THANK YOU.

LOL at Victor being on to Claire but whipping $200 out of his pocket anyhow. Those scenes were so cute. And I like casual Victor.

LOL at Shawn saying Stefano was like a million years old.

Could NOT stop laughing at Rory and Ciara!! Even the actress playing Ciara looked like she was trying not to laugh. Really funny stuff. But I do wish Rory would cut his hair. Props to the writers for remembering JJ and Ciara are cousins. Nice to hear it mentioned.

The day player prisoners got more screen time than Shawn-Douglas Brady.

Victor did say that while Bo might have had surgery, it would only have given him a bit more time, and he would have been in agony constantly.
I think Victor just is realizing how much of Deimos's life was taken away from him by Victor's false statements at the time. And while Deimos took everything away from him, he has made partial restitution, and tried to do some good.

Understand, that while I am saying this....NO, I do not trust Deimos at all, I don't think he tells the complete truth to anyone, I think he always has ulterior motives, but I do like that he uses what he took from victor to do some good things. I don't like him paired with Nicole, I think he talks of always being honest to her, but isn't, of course.

I also think that whatever the vision for the character was has been changed with the constant change in writers, but it does seem obvious that the Kiriakis clan needed a bad/good guy as John Aniston who plays Victor wanted less to do. And Sonny or Justin characters just would not fill the bill. Same reason Andre is back. No one wants Chad to be a bad guy, but the DiMera name , since they don't want to end that family, needed the bad guy.

Loved Rory. I am wondering how Deimos is able to even visit Hope (and by surprise, with nobody calling her to the visitor room to see a visitor.) He would have had to be on her visitor approved list, if eligible. Deimos spent 30 years in prison for a murder conviction. As a person with a violent felony on his record, he wouldn't even be allowed to correspond with a prisoner let alone make a personal visit. Is Hope in a Federal prison? State lock-up? Or? (Oh, and I do realize that accuracy does not necessarily apply to Salem law.)

I think it is ridiculous that Rafe and Shawn are trying to prove that Stefano was dying so he didn't care if Hope killed him. You still can't kill someone just because they were already dying. I know Stefano did a lot of bad stuff but you still can't just kill him. And I hate women in prison stories.

Ciara and Rory is a little weird. He used to be so much older than her and now maybe dating? Just weird. But I am tired of her always going back to Theo. I don't think he's her true love. And Theo going after Valerie is getting old too. I'm sure she doesn't have a big secret. Theo is annoying.

The thing with Deimos is that he does have a code I think. Like the man himself the code is twisted and hard to read but it's there. I don't like Deimos very much or trust him all for the most part but I do think he's sincere about seeing Hope is kept safe in prison as a way of making amends, well as sincere as he can be anyway. The funny thing is Hope has already single handedly disarmed and bested the woman who is being paid to protect her. Despite the fact that Hope was only about half-her size. She has proven what they say about dynamite and small packages and is more then capable of taking care of herself.

The Rory and Ciara scenes were cute. I couldn't help but a kick out of the way that Rory seems incapable of being blown off. I don't really see anything coming of this but it was a fun one-off if nothing else.

Claire "conning" two hundred dollars out of Victor was cute but I wish she wasn't encouraging Theo's vendetta against Valarie especially since she's doing it just to spend time with him. I have no doubt that Eli is going to turn out to be the name of Valarie's son.

That said it was nice that the writers remembered that both Ciara and Claire aren't just members of the Brady/Horton/Evans families abut are Kiriakis as well. I had honestly thought that was something that had been forgotten.

You just answered all your questions, susala. :)

I'm sure [Valerie] doesn't have a big secret.
I wouldn't be too sure about that. It seems to me that most people who come to Salem have hidden agendas.

I know Days doesn't care about details but this is annoying me too. A civilian can't simply walk in to a prison recreation room and unescorted no less. Rafe did it last week as well. Even though he's a cop, he is not a prison guard. All prison visitors have to follow the same protocol.

Ciara and Rory is a little weird. He used to be so much older than her and now maybe dating?

It's especially weird since earlier in the episode Claire mentioned getting an allowance. If these teens are 18, then act like it. Why doesn't she have a part time job somewhere? I think it was a huge mistake for the show to SORAS the teens from 16 to 18 in less than a year and they seem to have backpedaled a bit but not enough. Some scenes they truly act like teenagers and then other scenes such as Ciara and Rory, they act like adults.

Like others, I was very pleased to see Rory, who was a pleasant relief from all the gloom, doom, and darkness that now exists in Salem. And given the type of guys available in Salem, Teen Ciara could do far worse than the self-styled "pharmaceutical rep." As for other topics:

Only in Salem Legal Reasoning: Anywhere but Salem, Rafe's and Shawn's quest to save Hope with info from the Phoenix's emails would be a fool's errand. Stefano could have been likely to die of natural causes by the next morning, but Hope shooting him was still murder. Otherwise it would be open season the the terminally ill. It also doesn't matter if he goaded Hope. What matters is her state of mind, not his.

"Nancy Drew" Brady: Theo better think twice before getting involved in Claire "Nancy Drew" Brady's snooping into Valerie Grant's emails. If he's not careful, he'll either do do something illegal or make a fool of himself.

Prison visitations: Hope's prison has the oddest visitation arrangements. How much would it coat TBTB to do a mock-up of facing tables divided by a plexiglass barrier, which allows the inmate and visitor to communicate by using phones as was seen in The Fugitive and The Town?

Hope's Fellow Convicts: Kudos to TPTB for assembling a such motley group of convicts for Hope to interact with. Maybe, they could fill out the group by adding Warden Jane's old convict accomplice, Lee, to the happy group.

The thing that bothers most about Deimos coming and going from the prison the way he did is that it is supposed to a maximum security facility. But I guess that's just one of the doors the Kiriakis name can open.

As far as the prison protocol even as its been established is going to be pretty much ignored. Otherwise I think either Shawn or Ciara would have mentioned to Rafe that he's been eating up the four hours a month prisoners get of visitation while they've only been able to see their mom only once.

Hey, wait a sec. Deimos explained his presence....."my last name is Kiriakis, it opens a lot of doors". Evidently it opened enough he did not have to specify he was visiting "just one" prisoner. :sarcasm: So he saw her alone, and not even a guard present.
