Steve & Kayla are having breakfast, talking of Tripp, Jade living together, Kayla having Tripp follow her thru her rounds, to get the feel of what she does, etc. He appreciates her doing this, knows Tripp coming into their lives is unexpected, she is being great. She says his son is her son, they kiss, part company.
Meanwhile Tripp & Jade are also having breakfast in the square, yakking it up about him letting her live with him rent free, buying her breakfast, & her giving him the info he needs to avenge the death of his mother. (eye-rolling here by me). He wonders if maybe they can perhaps go out sometimes, she declines a date, he realizes she is still hung up on Joey, who doesn't love her, Jade figures he just doesn't realize yet what he wants and what is really best for him. Blah, blah. Tripp leaves to meet up with Kayla.
Later, Steve is sitting with Jade, talking very nicely, trying to help her understand that Joey is not going to ever be with her. And they felt Jade needed to learn how to stand on her own 2 feet. Jade tho, is convinced otherwise, talks of looking for a job, letting Tripp know she wants to pay her own way, and that Joey is going to realize Jade is the one for him. Steve talks of her moving on, even suggesting counseling, saying he did so himself, mentions being on the other end of a one way relationship. Jade knows he means Ava, asks if he thinks she is like Ava. No, he does not, but she should try and accept the fact, Joey is not in love with her.
Maggie sits talking to Holly, Chloe watches. They chatter a bit, Maggie mentions Nicole, Chloe doesn't want to hear it, Maggie notes Nicole plead guilty, sentencing is today, and Chloe should not try to avoid it. She tries reasoning with Chloe, that Nicole is the bio mother, but Chloe is adamant, bio isn't everything, she kidnapped my baby. Blah, blah.
At the courthouse, Nicole paces in an office, Justin arrives. Brady is doing much better, which relieves Nicole, then he breaks the news about the missing plane, noting he might have to leave to join the search. Nicole is sympathetic, understanding, he gets a call, leaves the room. In comes Deimos. More of Deimos's denials of having anything to do with Nik's problems. She is nice, but blames him for putting everything in motion. He tried bribing the judge, resulting in her being assigned another, same one she sees today. Brady was shot, she may lose Holly & go to prison, Xander was working for him. Deimos insists he is blameless if only Nicole would have let him protect her, he could have her & Holly safe and in a place Chloe would never have found them. They could have had a happy life as husband & wife. Nicole spits out she would rather rot in a prison cell rest of her life than ever spend a single minute again with him. Stay away from her. In walks Justin, who tells him the same thing.
Eric goes to see Chloe, who is not happy to see him. He quietly tries to reason with her, noting that Nicole was desperate, her daughter was being taken from her, she would never see her again. She wanted to protect her child, whom she loves as much as Chloe does. He asks just what Chloe would do if someone tried to take Parker from her. He leaves, goes to see Brady. He explains he could not go to the hearing, it is a closed hearing, but he did all he could. Nicole has pled guilty, sentencing is today. Brady calls Nicole, gives her a pep talk, she feels strengthened by the call, his words. Justin comes, times to go.
Tripp is with Kayla, she gives him an ID tag to wear, he follows her around, didn't realize she did so much. He observes he keeping notes, and something with a tablet. Later he meets with Jade, all went well, he now knows exactly how he will take Kayla down for killing his mother.
Steve comes with a cup of coffee for Kayla, who also recounts how well it went with Tripp, how observant, asked lots of questions, paid attention. Steve says maybe he will be good in medicine after all. He came to say goodbye. Is going in person to check on the lead on Sebastian Howard in NY. Wants to do it face to face. Will be back soon.

Nicole stands, admits she did wrong, states how all her life she wanted to be a mother, finally was, only to have her daughter taken away from her, never to see her. She makes her heartfelt statement, the judge is moved, but the fact is, Nicole did break the law, took the child.
She is about to render her sentence, KNOCK, KNOCK. In comes Chloe, judge notes private hearing, Chloe claims that since she is involved, the victim, deserves to be heard. Judge Duncan allows it, and Chloe actually makes a plea on behalf of Nicole. She says Nicole is her best friend, that she knows all the things Nik has gone through, which is why she agreed to be the surrogate for her and Daniel. She understands completely why Nicole did what she did, took Holly and left. That she doesn't hold it against her, and would have done the same herself under the circumstances.
Judge Duncan says she already was about to pronounce sentence, and has now listened to Chloe's heartfelt statement. She is ready to pronounce sentence.
