Days of Our Lives - Mon., Oct. 16, 2017

So...Rafe says she rehired JJ because he is her cousin, moans about morale, and public's faith in the cop shop, but has no objection to Hope giving a certain detective special favors?

He actually did say no to her when she said that but they were also in the middle of kissing so who knows

I thought the Sami/Rafe scenes were very sweet. Short but sweet. These 2 still have it. Night and day from the Hope/Rafe scenes. I still think this is a setup for something to happen between Sami and Rafe.

That said, Rafe does need to butt out of both Gabi and Hope's lives. Both are adult women capable of making their own decisions. But again, I think the Hope stuff may be setting up something with Sami.

Gabi and Eli don't really wow me as much as Lani/Eli and Gabi/JJ. It was nice to see Chloe mingle with them today though.

I'm beyond words for nasty Brady. Nicole may not be one of my favorite characters but seriously where is your backbone??? I hope she tells Eric everything so he can help her. I also need John and Marlena to get involved here.

Drunk Lucas with Drunk Brady was funny yet not so funny. I hope Sami confronts Lucas about his drinking too.

And for those wondering, Sami actually didn't dominate the show today. It felt pretty well balanced across the board to me. Maybe a tad too much Nicole and Brady but not noticeably so.

Nicole calls him more of a monster than she’s ever known.
Considering she was once married to TWO of Salem's biggest criminals (not to mention the endlessly sleazy Trent Robbins), this is quite an insult.
Rafe is glad Sami hasn’t changed.
That makes somewhere between 0 and 1 of us.

...it bothers me that the show keeps writing [Julie] thinking her way or the high way, that she is always right, and can do and say whatever she pleases, and everyone should just take it and shut up.
That's the way I've seen Julie since she was in high school. To me, she has always assumed a mantle of entitlement.

I hope [Nicole] tells Eric everything so he can help her.
The Nicole I used to know could lick a weasel like Brady with both hands tied behind her back. She used to be a strong woman who could fight her own battles. If the writers sink to having Eric, the weakling, become her Prince Charming, there may be no hope for the Nicole character.

Ah, Jason, you DO have a way with words. :)

I am hating hating hating this Nicole/Brady story. They have made him so nasty. I have always liked Brady. Why can't Nicole ever ever have a happy story?

Rafe needs to get over the "you could have killed my sister"! No, Eli saved her from Raines who could have killed her. Eli was trained and knew what he was doing. It's just dumb.

I am hoping Hope being the boss will cause problems with her and Rafe. Still don't like them as a couple. I can't wait for Sami to comment on it.

Thanks, Heather.

I wish Nicole would have slapped Brady. He deserved it.

It didn't take long for Hope and Rafe argue about her job. I kept thinking about
how she killed Stefano when Rafe mentioned favoritism for her cousin JJ.

Brady said he wanted to see Eric's heart explode. Sami told Rafe she couldn't
stay at Marlena's because she would see John and her head would explode.

I guess Chloe gave in to Julie when Gabi said the name was old school Doug's Place.

Nicole has been through years and years of one form of abuse after another. In some ways it made her tougher. In other ways it wore her out. She has tried so hard and has always been damaged and betrayed. It takes a toll on a person, even when there are short periods of joy in between all the rest of it. I think Nicole has been betrayed to the point that, though she wants to, it is very hard for her to trust people, especially men. I hope, ultimately, she wins this one.

Thanks for the summary. I, too, am so tired of Brady acting this way! I hope that Chloe puts it together as she has been lately, and straightens him out! At this point, I think he's the only one who'll be able to! I also hate that he and Lucas are just encouraging each other with the alcohol. They need something more drastic.

Hope and Rafe are still boring. Maybe he can get back together with Sami. They need to do a Sami-Rafe-Lucas triangle. That is the triangle that should've been, instead of Sami-Lucas-EJ and Sami-Rafe-EJ. Sami and her two great loves. That would be entertaining and hard to choose for her and for a great deal of the fanbase, I think. I just hope they have her evolve.

The Chloe/Gabi/Eli scenes were nice. I'm glad that Julie seems resigned to the fact that Gabi and Eli will be close. I wish that Sami would show similar maturity.

Gabi picked up the check at Club Chloe? Is she still Chad's fashion advisor? If Will is alive, he will have to start making child support payments; may even have to play catch-up.

Overbooked flights? Sami could have used a tiny bit of her stolen money to charter a private jet.

Hope should be very proud of Rafe's selfless offer to chauffeur Sami aound town, as needed. He has a history of showing kindness to women who are "just friends."

I'm puzzled that Nicole did not provide full disclosure re Brady's uncharacteristic cruelty, to her best friend. She could certainly have trusted Chloe to keep her secret!

I do hate the Brady/Nicole story right now. They are two of my favorite characters, and this storyline does not due their characters justice. But I do think the Brady line saying was spot on when he says that Nicole goes from one to the other, sounding the same, smiling the same etc.

She definitely has gone from one to another in the last couple of years. In love with EJ, out of love with EJ, then in love with Daniel, that didn't work out, then in love with Eric, then that didn't work out, then Daniel again, then Deimos, then Brady, now Eric again. Did I miss anyone in the middle of all of these? I know that falling out of love with some were not her fault, but come on.

Nicole is always looking for love in all the wrong places (as that song goes) but so are most of the other characters in Salem. And probably, when they say I love you, they mean it, at the time. Which is why they sound the same, blah, blah, as Brady spit out at Nik. Too bad she did not say the same of him. After all, he was going to be a family with Kristen, definitely with Theresa, too.

Too bad Maggie did not come in when Lucas came, boozing it up at the home of his sponsor.

While I agree with this sentiment that Gabi *aka my girl* shouldn't interfere with police business, I also can't help but ask where it would be if people on tv in general, not just soaps, stayed out of police business? I mean we wouldn't have had hours of enjoyment with such shows like "Murder She Wrote" or "Diagnosis: Murder" or more recently "Castle." Nor would in we in our youth enjoyed the literary exploits of those plucky young detectives The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. :)
Gabi is not without her merits, but I've seen Jessica Fletcher and once read my sister's Nancy Drew books when I was home from grade school with some illness, and Gabi is no Jessica Fletcher or Nancy Drew. These two intrepid women cleverly solved crimes, but all Gabi generally does is run her mouth and stick her nose where it isn't needed. (She's about as useless as a crime-fighter as goat-phobic Lani and phony tough hothead JJ.)
Considering she was once married to TWO of Salem's biggest criminals (not to mention the endlessly sleazy Trent Robbins), this is quite an insult.
This was truly remarkable. Wherever he is, Trent is probably telling his companions about this as a way of showing that he wasn't so bad after all. It's also remarkable that the vicious Brady now outranks perverted Old Man Walker, the perv who forced his poor daughter into porno films, in the sleaze department

Just a random observation/thought. I didn't realize Will's full name was William Robert Horton until seeing an up-close of his headstone on Monday's episode. My first thought. Oh? Wait. Billy is short for William. And Bob is short for Robert. Will's name is Billy Bob! I didn't know that. I will refer to Will as Billy Bob from now on. Because I want to. hahahahahahaha
