It is still Valentine’s Day, and election day in Salem, as most of the show centers in Horton Square. First, let’s go over to DiMansion, where Stefano is watching coverage of the election, shuts off the TV, polls not closed yet. He gives EJ a hard time about doing this on his own, wanting to distance himself from his father. Kate is off praising Nicole for her work, and being good for EJ, whom she thinks has fallen in love with Nicole. Just too bad john Black wiggled out of the charges against him. Blah, Blah. Nicole talks on the phone with “Andy” who is on the election committee and promises to call them before the results are announced.

Over at the Square, Lexie continues to gush at Honest Abe, convinced he will soon be mayor, but she is about the only one. They spot Jennifer inside the Pub with some guy, Abe thinks maybe she is setting up an interview. (However, this is the guy who offered to alter the votes, only if Abe is not winning. Jennifer declines.) Exit polls are showing EJ ahead, Abe & Jen are worried, but not Lexie. (Folks, they just drag this all thru the lst 35 minutes of the show.

Meanwhile, Abby is telling all her troubles to Carrie, and has insisted Austin stay, because she works for him, so should know what is going on. She really pours on the “poor me” attitude, paints the older guy in black colors. Austin tries making excuses for the guy, as perhaps he did not mean to hurt her, yada, yada. I have no idea how come Carrie doesn’t notice how Abby keeps looking pointedly at Austin as relates her tale of woe. Carrie is sympathetic, thinks the guy is a jerk, and she feels sorry for the other woman who is involved with the guy. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Well, at last the polls are closed, votes counted. Nicole gets a call from her guy, Jen from hers. Jen hangs up, pulls a long face as she tells Abe how close the election was, closer than expected, but then breaks out in a big grin, he won. Nicole cannot believe the news, tells the DiMera family, who don’t take kindly to the news. Jen goes off with Jack to arrange things with the reporters, Lexie takes a call, and one guy comes up to Abe, introduces himself as Jen’s reporter friend, was sorry he was unable to get those debate questions to him, but was glad Abe managed to do so on his own. He shakes Abe’s hand and departs, but unfortunately Lexie has overheard this. She questions Abe, who tries to explain about beating EJ at his own game, but Lexie is on her high horse, and refuses to accept whatever Abe is saying.

Over at DiMansion, Stefano rants and raves about EJ not wanting his help, and look at the disaster. Instead of his father, he places his faith in that bimbo..ooops, EJ gets ticked, tells him that is enough, stop it. Stefano just goes on and on. EJ has left the room, Stef moans and groans to Kate.
Back at the Horton Town Square, Jen & Jack come to get Abe to give his victory speech, Lexie is tightlipped. He thanks everyone for their support, gives special thanks to Jennifer Deveraux and her team for all their work.
Stefano, Kate & EJ are watching on TV, Stefano remarking that Lexie is not looking too happy, really. Nicole comes back in the room, looking rather pleased with herself. EJ tells her “that could be us up there”. Nicole smiles, or rather smirks, saying we will be, sooner than you think.”

Back at the square, Abe has now given even more special thanks to his wife, Dr. Lexie Carver, for her support, for being at his side, always. Lots of clapping, as he asks her to come up there. Lexie stands stock still, not even a smile. The crowd is chanting “Lexie, Lexie”, as Abe claims she is rather shy, than urges her to come on up, as does Jen. Lexie doesn’t move, just stares at Abe, with a rather angry look on her face.

Last week I tweeted one of the headwriters asking WHEN Feb. sweeps starts, as so far, Feb. is snoozefest.

Now that I'm actually watching it, I have to say that Nicole looks particularly pretty today. Love the cobalt-blue blouse she's wearing. Her hair also looks very nice, with the sides pulled back.

Kate seemed to have 4 different hair shades today, (yes, including that awful blue clump of yuk. )

Loved Nicole's blouse, especially the color, liked Jen's hair, but once again, all these people are in that square dressed as if it is June outside. LOL. Even Jack was wearing just a light jacket or sweater.

My posting from a sister fan site:

Today was filled with comical lines and/or scenes, here's my favorite:

    - - EJ’s line “don’t worry mummy” as he winks at Kate while discussing he would stop at nothing to get what he wants.
    - - Kate and Nicole realizing they are complimenting each other. "Oh my God!" they exclaim in unison, they turn and walk away Nicole upstairs and Kate into the kitchen.

    Now on to the show.
Abigail, Carrie and Austin – one thing for sure without Carrie knowing the man Abby is talking about is Austin, he got many very good points across that may or may not lessen the blow when Carrie does realize Austin is the man Abby is in love with. I did get a little confused though, Carrie commented on how she went to Jennifer when she was younger for advise; but when Jack mentioned to Jenn that Abby was talking to Carrie she acted like Carrie who? All in all another squirm day for Austin, he must have gotten a rash from scooting around in his chair. Now Carrie had a touch of Marlena in her today when she commented on how she doesn’t think Abby was dumb for falling in love with this guy; she deserves better; she feels sorry for the other woman; this guy is a complete scum; it was all the guys fault. BS….Austin and Carrie are family friends who Abby knows well, but just hasn’t seen in a while. To me Abby has little respect for Carrie and it should have been Abby that did not engage or pursued a familiar relationship with Austin.

Lexie…after all she’s done to Abe over the years, she was a little to self –righteous and pompous for me today. Same with Stefano how he berated EJ for losing the election as he always does when EJ attempts something without his assistance. Now what part of ‘Stefano’s hands not being’ in the election can we believed? Yep None, after all it was Stefano that gave Hope the clues that lead to John being cleared of embezzlement! Wait until EJ learns this little tidbit of information!

Oh, I thought Abby just loved having Carrie offer to give some advice, cuz she definitely was going to insist Austin hear all she had to say, (gad, the way she kept looking at him, and not Carrie, to whom she was speaking) . She wanted to stick the knife in and twist it, make Austin more uncomfortable than he already was.

Jennifer was kind of shocked that Abby was talking to Carrie.....(and since when is Carrie not much older than Abby????) and then had to admit she only knew Abby was interested in some guy, and nothing else. Which shows how Jennifer has paid no attention to her own family, and that definitely includes JJ.

I really, really do not like Lexie! Some nerve!!!!! And I'm none too fond of Carrie either. Gads, what a busy body. She should have left Abby and Jack to have their private father/daughter conversation!

I was so hoping that when he learned he had lost the election, EJ would have tossed Nicole out on the street the way he did Sydney when he thought she wasn't his daughter. I really want Nicole to WAKE UP!!
    Jammers and D4ysfan appreciate this.

Thanks for the summary. I haven't been able to watch all week. Don't know if or when I will catch up. I plan to try. You sure nailed it with what you said to the head writer about February and sweeps! If sweeps is this boring, what can we expect when it's over?

I thought the whole "Abby MUST talk to somebody" scenario was really forced. A young woman Abby's age boo-hoos to her friends. What was supposed to be the point in her talking to Carrie, seek advise on what to do next? And Carrie making Austin stay becase the "jerk" might be a student in one of Austin's classes... so what? What would Autin be expected to do, confront the hypothetical heart-breaker on Abby's behalf? Flunk him?

All that said, I think the actress who portrays Abby did a great job with her facial expressions and eye movement between Carrie and Austin as she spoke. Her gaze lingered on Austin just enough to make him uncomfortable without causing Carrie any suspicion. Good job!

I agree with you dark horse, that scene was really forced, especially since we've never really seen any interactions (beyond brief pleasantries) between Abby and Carrie.
