The only reason why Eric is being busted for a crime in Salem is because the Saintly Superman Dan the Man who Tans was killed as a result of the accident. Salem PD can turn their eyes the other way when it comes to Italian mobsters like Stefano and Ava. But Daniel, God forbid, needs justice when his best friend feels guilt and remorse while Hope has no regret and Joey is pretty lost.
