Days of Our Lives
January 3, 2017
Well, Happy New Year to you, too, Days writers. All I will say is thank goodness for Steve & Kayla, as there is very little joy in Mudville, I mean Salem tonight. Steve, Kayla, Joey & Jade are cleaning up after working the Pub on New Year's Eve. Kayla calls her mom (who evidently is with Kim) to tell her all went well. Kayla wears a top hat, they all kibbitz around, Joey wants a reluctant Jade to go home & rest, she wants to stay, will sit, fold napkins. Music is playing softly, Steve & Kayla dance, kiss, talk of all the good things coming in 2017....he is making Kayla his bride, Adrienne will kick cancer in the butt, Joey & Jade will have the most beautiful baby in the world, and they will be getting Hope back home where she belongs. Jade wants to dance with a worried Joey, they can just sway in place. All is peaceful and loving, then Jade gets a bad pain, Kayla checks her a bit, calls the OB on duty, says Jade can be checked at the hospital.
Gabi is having a fit when she realizes the woman JJ had sex with was Lani, his former partner, saying he lied. No he didn't, he honestly did not remember. Lani has been mad as well, explaining that she did not know JJ was in Miami, came into this bar, saw him, he was in a bad way. She began drinking with him, and tried to comfort him. Gabi snaps at her, comfort a guy who has a girlfriend. (Hey Gabi, Chad has a wife!) Lani wants to know where Gabi was, why wasn't she there. All are arguing, Gabi finally running off. JJ follows but Gabi now has her big excuse. She cannot be with someone she cannot trust, he shoots back ..."like Chad". She snaps at him this has nothing to do with Chad, he has cheated before (on Paige) and though he literally begs for another chance, Gabi says no, we are over, we can never be together again.
JJ sits on a park bench, Lani comes along, they have things sorted out, she wants to forget this all ever happened, he reminds her he can't forget something he really doesn't remember. Laughs, shaking of hands, as they will remain friends.
Abby & Chad are kissing passionately, but the baby monitor has has Thomas crying, they break apart, she will go see to thomas, Chad says he is going to bed. In his room, Abby tells Thomas how Daddy kissed her, so things are getting back on track. She mentions him going to bed, but not saying good night, so was that just an announcement, or invitation.
Chad is in bed, the door opens, Abby stands there in silky or satiny gown and robe. She comes over to talk to the sleepless Chad, sits on the edge of the bed. They talk a bit, about Thomas, a bit about them, but Chad doesn't want to discuss them at all. He is tired of lies, manipulations, people faking their deaths....and tells her that now his father apparently is also back from the dead. He doesn't know how, doesn't plan on going to look for him, let the police do it. They talk a bit more, and then are kissing passionately again, He gets her robe off, she gets his T-shirt off, both are under the covers, getting hot and heavy, but Chad breaks away. He can't, he just can't. She kisses his shoulder, then finally gives him a light kiss, says Happy New Year, Chad, takes her robe and leaves the room.
Now, let's take all this merriment and go to the prison, where someone, Rafe has managed to be able to visit Hope, no matter how late it is. They chat, talk happily, kid around about him having no champagne with him, kiss, then talk as Rafe brought her even better news. He tells of the possibility of Stefano being alive, of being spotted supposedly, description fits him to a T, establishing a power base in Europe. They happily talk of her perhaps getting out of prison. He will do his best. They lean across the table, kiss, she drops something, he picks it up, tis that Tarot death card. He worms it out of her that it was left for her. Rafe knows she is in danger, Chille is dead, she doesn't have the protection she once did. She figures she will be o.k.
Gabi is walking in the square, Rafe spots her, can see she is upset, she tells of telling JJ they can never be together, ever again. Then says she has feelings for Chad, already has gotten a lecture from Dario about mingling with the DiMeras. Rafe knows Chad is not like the rest of that family, so no worries, but Gabi says she did not think so, until Chad found that Abby was still alive, and is back in Salem, yes, at the house. Rafe holds her as she cries a bit.
At the hospital, Jade is in a bed, is all upset, crying out in pain, Kayla is getting the ultrasound to come in, Jade begins bleeding. Kayla shags Joey out of the room. Jade is crying. Later, Joey is outside the room with Steve, Kayla comes out, she is sorry, they did all they could. Steve is sorry as well. She explains that a miscarriage usually indicates the baby wasn't viable, would not have lived. Yes, Joey can go in to be with Jade. He does, she is crying, my baby, our baby, as he hold her, stroking her hair.
And back to the prison where fun and games
continue. Coco & Sheila are in a cell, talking over how Hope gets this late night visit from her cop boyfriend, special favors. They have to do something, Chille is gone, did not work, other inmates have rallied because she befriended that newbie. We gotta do something and do it tonight.
Hope is in her cell, praying that she gets that miracle, that Stefano really is still alive. Suddenly Coco & Sheila rush in, no miracle for you, honey, Hope screams, they shove her back on the cot, both on top of her.
