    Days of Our Lives
    Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Hmmm, lots of whining today, in my opinion, plus a rather “graphic“ roll in the hay between Brady & Madison…but…a new day has dawned in Salem. Madison tip toes out of the bathroom into the bedroom, where a sleeping Brady is soon awakened by Madison kissing and then biting his chest. Tisn’t long before the hormones are raging, hands are moving, facial expressions …well, you can imagine..or see for yourself. Afterwards, they get to talking, as Brady is still not happy with this plan of Madison’s which exposes Sami ultimately to Kate’s wrath. I guess he fills her in on some back history to make his point.

Abby opens the door to Austin’s office, to find him awkwardly sprawled on the 2 seat sofa 7 sound asleep. She wakes him up, he makes all kinds of dumb excuses, but finally admits all is not o.k. between him and Carrie, they had a fight, he walked out to cool off, came here, and decided to stay. Abby is sorry, starts praising Austin, who gets a bit uncomfortable in that she goes overboard. She thinks Carrie doesn’t appreciate him. Yada, yada. He pours out his sad story of how he & Carrie always found time for each other, and now they cannot seem to connect.

Meanwhile, Carrie is trying to pour herself a cup of coffee in the office, spills it, grabs paper towels as Rafe comes in, and helps. She leaves him to clean it all up, while going to her desk, and then confessing to Rafe about lthe big fight she & Austin had, him walksing out, her spending hours waiting for him to return to no avail, so just got dressed and came here. Now she relates all her problems with Austin, which began when she took John’s case. He felt John guilty because of facts, she knew he was innocent because of the man. Austin was so adamant, she wondered just who this guy is. And she goes on about no time together now, but as busy as they were when both were in school in Switzerland, they always found time to be together. (Sorry, I did not see an cheese to go along with all this whine, but admittedly, it did sound cheesey. LOL)

And now to the Pub, where Sami has stopped by for coffee, and bumps into John. She is civil at first, thanks him again for Sydney’s doll carriage, beautiful & Sydney loves it. John goes on how Marlena delighted in picking it out, not having to worry about size, or will it ship. She is so looking forward to tea parties, playing dolls, etc. All the things she missed out on when Sami & Eric were growing up, and he knows Sami still resents Marlena for to this day. Sami says she knows it is not Marlena’s fault. John asks about Sami’s job with Kate, she takes a step back, becomes a bit defensive, but John only asked because he knows their history. Sami insists all is well, Kate respects her and her opinions, she just wishes she had more time, she never got to help plan Sydney’s party. John goes on, knowing Sami is a great mom, goes to the kids’ games to cheer them on, reminds her that shen she was the age of the twins, the person who did all that was him. He does comment that the little kids do need their mom, and this causes Sami to get really defensive and bitter, gets angry, tho John is really trying to be nice. She storms out.

And what is any day without a trip to the Horton Square. Austin & Abby arrive, to sit and have coffee. Who comes along but Rafe & Carrie. She wants to leave before they see her, too late. Austin has stood up, Rafe & Carrie walk over, with her commenting she did not know he had a date for breakfast. Abby says they just ran into each other, Stares all around, til Rafe tells Abby they should give these two some privacy. (ya think?) They go off to the side, Abby explains about finding Austin asleep in his office, and decides to hustle off to class.
Carrie & Austin have a rather awkward conversation. He relates needing time to think, which is why he went to his office, and ended up sleeping there. They talk of the how well they got along in Switzerland, but not since coming home to Salem. Austin admits that it upsets him all the time she spends with Rafe. During office hours, after office hours, and then into the night hours. She is sorry she’s been so inconsiderate of his feelings. He gets down on one knee, says he loves her, wants her to be happy, and want to fix this. She does, too. He gets a text, has a noon meeting, plus a 11 a.m. class and has to go. They are good. Kiss, kiss, see you tonight, yes I am coming home.

And then Rafe bumps into a rushing Sami. He can see she is upset, she insists not, keeps saying she has to go. He stops her, getting her to tell about running into John, and how he told her she isn’t a good mother to her kids, and doesn’t know why he said that (when Rafe asks.) She is in a hurry, but Rafe still doesn’t want to let her go. She smiles, talks lightly of how, when Rafe & Carrie’s business gets off the ground, she can stay home with the kids, eat bon bons and watch TV. Smiles, hugs, kisses, I love you, yes we are good.

At the Pub, Brady & Madison walk in, finding John & his laptop. Brady teases about John using this as his office, Madison has to leave, but assures Brady, in a whisper voice, that she will think about what he said about Sami. She leaves, John asks what that is about. Brady tells the tale as it happened (without revealing the spy stuff), claiming he has been concerned about what Kate might do to Sami, explaining that Madison & Sami knew each other in Colorado as kids, went to school together.

Over at Carrie & Rafe’s office, she comes in, telling Rafe that tho she & Austin talked, they seemed to skirt around and did not really say anything. She is worried. Rafe relates bumping into Sami, how she was in a hurry, rush rush rush, then smiles as he remembers when his job had him doing the same thing. He is making himself coffee, and now he spills it. (I think the lid come off the pot). And his solution?? Pick up that coffeemaker, with the half full pot of coffee still resting in it’s spot, pull out the cord, and dump the entire thing in the waste basket. Carrie approves, and remarks that at least the two of them still can laugh.

Back to the Square, where Sami is sitting on a bench behind a wrought iron gate. Madison arrives, and has been thinking about their plan. Sami goes on how it is time to take Kate down. Her focus is entirely on Madison now, so strike while the iron is hot. Not so fast, Madison whispers. Both gals continually look around as they talk, and Madison mentions again how worried Brady is about this, that he filled her in how Sami’s history with the DiMeras, and he doesn’t want Sami hurt. Madison wants to drop the whole idea. Sami is fit to be tied. Brady doesn’t want Sami hurt, and neither does Madison. Sami thinks she is in too deep. What is she to do. Quit Kate and be out of a job, stay with Kate - not hardly likely…or quit and come back to work for Madison, and then Kate will know for sure what she has done. (tsk, tsk, Sami, and you never thought those 2 steps ahead. Boy, the viewers did! )Madison again is hesitant, telling Sami they will abort the plan completely. Oh, no you won’t, hisses Sami. You are NOT going to leave me hanging.

Bahahahaha I loved that Carrie finally saw Abby for what she really is.. Ugh the part were Abby is acting all innocent to Rafe "Oh we were just having coffee". Rafe gave her such a weird look! She got out of there so fast!

Thanks, Poirot ! I just finished the show, and I must admit I did not like much of what I saw, especially with Madison and Brady and their... whatever that thing was ! Do we really need to see that much ? I am no prude, but come on ! And the noises Madison was making while... was it biting, licking ? Ew, ew, ew ! Take off the microphones, or turn the volume down at least ! Romance ? Yeah, right !

And Sami, Sami, Sami... What a class act she was again, today. That lasted... about two seconds, right before she turned back into a brat with John. But I loved, loved, loved John ! He saved the show for me.

The rest ? Abby, Austin, Carrie, Rafe. I Don't care... All too contrived for my taste.

I have NEVER thought I was a product of "the olden days" even if I did tell my mother that all the time.... BUT, my eyes blinked....I couldn't believe Madison!! All of this for a time-killer?

I was floored by Madison's moaning during the roll in the hay.

Loved the scene with John and Sami, until Sami got all defensive and nasty with John. I LOVED when he called Johnny and Allie "the twinners" and also when he talked about how he took care of Sami and Eric by himself when Marlena was presumed dead. John always did love "his" twinners.

At that time, the storyline was that John was actually Roman, with plastic surgery.

When Wayne Northrop (the original Roman) was available again, they wrote the storyline that the real Roman was being held on one of Stefano's islands all that time and that Stefano let everyone believe that John was Roman, with extensive plastic surgery. (in a nutshell)

No, John always looked like that. When he first came to Salem, he was all bandaged up and had no memory and was calling himself John. Through a long and drawn-out storyline, Marlena discovered he was Roman (that Stefano had taken Roman's lifeless body when he fell off the cliff, saved him and did plastic surgery on him and that he now looked like John). After that, he was officially Roman Brady.

When they changed the storyline a few years later that the real Roman was alive, John went back to being called John, and Roman (Wayne Northrop) came back to Salem. Marlena was now in love with Roman/John, but she also loved the real Roman. She got back together with real Roman, but still had feelings for Roman/John, had sex on the conference room table at the Titan party (which Sami saw) and conceived Belle. Sami discovered Roman was not infant Belle's father, kidnapped her, tried to sell her on the black market. John and Kristen DiMera posed as adoptive parents, got Belle back and walked into church (I believe on Christmas Eve) and returned Belle to Roman and Marlena.

Later, Stefano stole Sami's diary, found out that John was really Belle's father, came into church and made Marlena announce it to everyone assembled at Belle's christening that she had sex with John and Belle might be his child. (just like the debacle at Parker's christening!!)

Marlena and Roman's marriage was over at that point. He eventually left Salem and through lots of trials and tribulations and obstacles, John and Marlena reunited.

Along the way, Roman was brought back to Salem, all bandaged up, yet again. This time he was played by Josh Taylor, who had previously played Chris Kosichek.

Thanks! That's quite a story. I always thought Marlena cheating on Roman was cut and dry... but can't say I blame her. Its kinda like when John falls for Kate when he thought Marlena was dead.

Exactly!! Marlena lived with John as Roman for quite awhile before they changed the storyline so that the "real" Roman was still alive and John wasn't really Roman. But it was John's Roman who raised Sami and Eric. He always called them his twinners and he carried them EVERYWHERE! You rarely saw them out of John's arms and never apart. Not like Johnny and Allie, where you rarely see them together.

But, John was really the one who raised them... then how can she be so cold towards him! I'm starting to like Sami less and less...if at all

Yes, the twins were barely more than toddlers when Marlena "died" that time and they were around 10 years old when Marlena came back. (contrary to the writers saying that Sami and Madison went to first grade together when Sami and Eric lived in Colorado with Grandma and Grandpa Evans. Sami and Eric were much older than first graders when they went to live with Grandma and Grandpa Evans).

Fun little trivia: When the twins were toddlers, they were played by the Palma twins, an actual set of boy/girl twins; and back then, Sami and Eric had dark hair, like Roman. When they were aged, the next set of kids who played them were blonds; and they've been blond ever since.

Sami and Eric WERE sent to Colorado to live for several years, tho......and it was very odd that only Sami came back first. Eric stayed in Colorado.

For some reason, when real Roman returned and Marlena went to live with him, Sami, in a very short time, came to forget all John did for her. I love that John is reminding her of all that he did back then.
But it was that conference table scene that truly had Sami turn against her mother, and then resent John when she chose him eventually, over Roman.

Like I said, they did go to live with Grandma and Grandpa Evans, but they were much older than first graders. The writers decided tweak that part of their history to say that Sami and Madison met in first grade.

It was definitely stupid of have Sami come back to Salem without Eric. Kind of funny though, that they both had the same "re-entry" into Salem, with Roman catching them, thinking they were "criminals" and then each twin yelling "DAD, IT'S ME!".
