Days of Our Lives - Tues. July 7, 2015

The whole Eve/Paige revenge thing just blows, in my opinion. A few thoughts- no guy that looks like the one Paige talked into helping her has that kind of confidence if they don't have any money. He told Eve he was 'between jobs', yet wanted to take little Paigey to Atlantic City (road trip!). Atlantic City isn't a day trip from Salem (unless he's got an airplane, but again, he has no money). Also, Atlantic City ain't quite what it used to be. The grand casinos and night life are largely gone. A Gonzo Trip to Vegas a'la Hunter S. Thompson would have at least sounded exciting and somewhat more plausible. For someone so 'smart', Eve was a real rube and the game was lame. She's supposed to at least be smarter than that. And crazier. Beating him up with her handbag would have made more sense.

And the sale of a family heirloom was intended to make it a bigger dig, I suppose. Though we'd never seen or heard of the ring until a week or so ago, and Shane giving it to Eve in the first place makes ZERO sense as well.

So lets see the DEA and the Salem PD want to recruit a kid whose only been out of high school for a year to go undercover and help take down a dangerous drug kingpin? You know it's days like today when I have to grab my remote and look at my channel guide on the TV to make sure I am in fact watching "Days of Our Lives" and not an episode of "Cops."

Okay I want to make sure I'm getting this straight; Serena is scared of Xander? Well after what he did to Eric and Nicole that would make sense. But my question is was she scared of him when she was refusing to hand over the diamonds until she got her cut? Was she scared of him after she got her money and was constantly in his face and annoying him for reasons I still don't entirely understand? This in my opinion perfectly sums up what's been wrong with the character of Serena from the very beginning; the writers had no clear idea who this woman is so her feelings and motivations are inconsistent and change from day to day.

I will say that watching Xander today I kept getting the theme from "Murder She Wrote" stuck in my head. I don't see a happy ending for Mr. Cook I fear.

Finally I wish Hope would stop accusing Victor of lying. I mean if she truly loves him she has to know what a sensitive and delicate soul he is right?

I loved the fact that Eve sat in the "Brady Booth", openly reading the file on Laura, which was clearly marked "Laura Horton" on the outside. Geez, nothing like doing that in public, for all to see. You'd think she'd have read through the file in the privacy of her own apartment.
You'd think, but this is Salem where people loudly discuss their most sensitive business -- even criminal activity -- in public places. As for Mr. Sleaze, it's too bad that Rafe wasn't in the Town Square. He could have copied what Al Bundy on Married with Children used to do to his daughter's slimy boyfriends -- grab the creep by the shirt collar and bang him hard against a wall. It might have been the most exciting moment of this largely dreary episode.

The whole Paige thing surprised me. Not what I was expecting and not that interesting. I thought she was looking for an older guy to maybe set up with Eve. Then when Eve really likes him Paige will sleep with him. Or at least make Eve think she slept with him. Is this all of Paige's revenge?

The JJ story surprised me too. I thought it was Clyde's goons gonna set JJ up for something. Actually I see this undercover gig as a way back to Paige. She will of course see him selling again but in the end will know he was undercover and that he was doing the right thing all along.

Daniel and his undying love for Nicole now is driving me crazy. He has strung her along, getting mad at every little thing she does or doesn't do but now suddenly she is it for him.

I guess I will never understand the Donovan money situation. OK, so Shane gave Eve a ring that is worth enough for her to get 10 grand from a pawn shop but no one went to him for help with tuition? Surgery? Why does Theresa act like she has never seen money? Surely a dad that gives out expensive jewelry has sent his kids on trips around the world. ugh. Pick a story for this family and stick to it....
So Roman and random agent actually thought a 19 year old would be willing to risk his life and go behind his mom's back for the good of a town he has never expressed any strong devotion to? The agent has been following him around seeing him at illegal parties and he thinks the kid cares who is doing drugs? Really? What did he observe that would make him think JJ cares about other people? He didn't even want to restore the square after he destroyed it.

I don't know how Maggie can judge an attempted murderer in front of Victor.
My thoughts exactly.

No rush to actually watch this then... still haven't watched yesterday.

The whole Paige/Old bloke/Eve/Eve's Ring/Whatever story sounds lame. Eve's got cash, so she goes back tomorrow and gets her ring out of hock once the bank is open. Big deal. Paige sucks at revenge as much as she sucks at everything else.
That was my first thought as well. So Eve is out $10 grand? She has never made a big deal about the money once she had it, and WANTS to give it to Paige. Paige is ridiculous. I have a feeling Stanford doesn't really want her.

For the life of me I can't figure out just why Salem has a police department. They make arrests that don't stick, they don't interrogate dangerous suspects or even bring them in half the time, and when the do find evidence (usually by accident) and have eye witness statements, the guilty party walks anyway.
THEY ARE USELESS!

This is actually true for ALL the characters - what makes this especially egregious is that SERENA WAS CREATED BY THESE WRITERS. It's amazing these people kept their jobs for 3 years!!! They stink!!

I agree with the poster above who said Eve is the most sympathetic in this story...and for once I'm not being sarcastic!!!

As to JJ/Drugs/Kyle/Clyde, we know where this is going...

I'll add Melissa Archer (Serena) to the list as well. They created the character for her, hired her as a "name" (possibly to draw in OLTL viewers?), and then wrote this pile of buffalo dung for her.:angry::angry::angry:

Hopefully some future showrunner brings her back as Autumn, Lucas' Hong Kong fiancée. I'm going to start shipping (i.e., promoting) that again.

I can't wait to refer to this current regime as the forgotten years because there is nothing that's been written by Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell that I want to hang on to. NOTHING!

Anything that may have once been good/decent is now a steaming, smelly pile of horse poo. The entire soap is horse poo!

Wow, I was so surprised Watts turned out to be a police office and JJ
was offered a job to be Narc. I haven't heard that word in a long time.

I wonder if a waitress noticed Eve looking at the file and Eve talking
to herself. She's the crazy one :)

I was surprised what Paige did to her mom.

Eve got $10,000 for the ring at the pawn shop. How much is the ring worth?

Heather, I think you're right there is a new door in the K-mansion living room.
I thought it looked different.

I started to fall asleep at the end...

Sadly, I must agree. The good episodes are few and far between, and the good stuff like the Will/Sonny wedding is tarnished unfixably.
