Replay of JJ telling Lani they can no longer see each other. Lani is startled, tearful, tries to change JJ’s mind. He is adamant. Lots of scenes as he points out that her father & brother are what is important, her family comes first, gets her to confirm her father doesn’t want her seeing JJ any more. JJ understands, is praying to Theo, her father and her, but this is for the best. She asks if they can be together when Theo wakes up, JJ insists they don’t know about the future, so have to deal with what is now.

Kayla has a nice visit with Abe, Theo is going to be having a lot of additional tests this a.m. for the specialist. She suggests he go home for some rest, no. Eventually, Abe tells her of firing Hope after her refusal to fire JJ. Kayla is not shocked, seems understanding. Has to go on rounds now, will call Abe, when Theo’s tests are done.

Hope tells Rafe she was fired, he cannot understand, she explains what happened, he is going to talk to Abe. At first she protests, but then decides it will be o.k.

So, Rafe comes in to see Abe right after Kayla leaves. Abe figures why he is there, says it is pointless, and now is not the time. Rafe convinces him to give him a few minutes, argues in Hope’s behalf. She went by the book, JJ is suspended, Hope followed all the rules. Abe doesn’t care, he owes it to the community to show when an officer shoots an unarmed man, there are consequences. Rafe says, especially if it is your son. He thinks Abe is going to be hurting his own reputation, Abe doesn’t care. But Rafe goes on, telling Abe to let internal affairs handle this, let JJ go thru the proper channels, let them decide. Abe finally agrees to do this, but on one condition.

Will comes across a crying Kate in the park, offers her a handkerchief, says his mother always made him carry one in case he ran across someone who needed one. Kate says it doesn’t sound like his mother, Will mentions Susan, but figures she meant Sami Brady. Yes. There is a really nice, long conversation, as Kate introduces herself, is his grandmother, talks of mothers loving their children, talks of Lucas, tells him about Lucas falling off the wagon over a woman, doesn’t name her. She shows him pics of Will & Lucas from some years ago, then one of their first Christmas. Will is puzzled, he looks about 3. Yes, he was 3. So, she has to explain that Sami was not quite honest about his paternity, long story, and he should ask Sami about it, not Kate’s place to tell the tale She gives him her phone number, call anytime, day/night. Big hug.

Chad sits in the DiMera study, Andre comes in. Chad is not looking too happy, asks Andre once again if he had anything to do with Theo being at the warehouse. Andre denies, gets angry at being asked again, assures he would never do anything to put Theo in any danger. Eli comes in, is investigating Theo’s shooting. Cannot get onto Theo’s cloud yet, but found voice mails on his phone from Andre, from before Theo was shot. He plays one, which only says Andre needs to talk to him about the security of the company. Eli finally leaves, Chad is very angry. He is berating Andre as Kate comes in, asking what is going on. Chad says something he should have done after the ill-fated press conference in the square… he is throwing her lesser half out of the house.

Sami is on the phone with whoever when Eric arrives, he caught her last sentence, figures she is up to something. Sami does her usual excusing and evading. She talks about doing anything for her kids, Eric is sympathetic about Will’s lack of memory, asks if she told mom what she is planning. Sami makes it plain, Mom has coddled and babied Will all his life, and is doing it now. Her way could take forever. She knows Will might not like what she is going to do, but is a risk she is willing to take. Eric wishes her the best, and says be careful, as Sami gets the call she was waiting for and leaves.

Rafe returns to the cop shop, Hope anxious to know how it went. Rafe shrugs, says he convinced Abe to not fire JJ, let his case go thru proper channels, let internal affairs handle it all. Hope is glad about that. Unfortunately, he was not able to get him to unfire Hope. She figures then Abe will be looking to hire a new commissioner. Yeah, says Rafe. Me.

Lucas is talking to his bottle or something, is very drunk, has nothing to live for, so figures, why not go out in a big, big way. Later, he is asleep on the bench, hugging his bottle, as Will comes by. Will calls to him, no answer. Will reaches down, taking the bottle away from Lucas’s hugging arms. This wakes Lucas up, grabbing the bottle, back, but looking up, seeing Will, big grain spreads across his face.

Sami walks into some apt., glad the two thugs were able to procure what she needed. They say just as you ordered, Mrs. DiMera. Yes, replies Sami, the one man I need to help my son get his memory back. Camera shifts over to a chair, on which sits a tied and gagged BEN!

Thank you, Poirot.

I have no desire to see Sami or Ben.

Boy is Chad going to be after Kate when he finds out that she's the one who involved Theo with that warehouse.

The only part that seems interesting to me is the scene with Will and Kate. I like how everyone, but Sami, is being patient with him and explaining their relationship.

And Sami, despite being told time and again about patience, not to push, won't listen to anyone. SHE knows better!

Kate was surprisingly restrained, filled Will in on some things, but not others. She did say that he was coming in, clean slate, no baggage, past wiped clean, no bad things. He asked her if she had some bad things in her past, she admitted she did. But naturally, no details. Just like how she would not tell him what Sami did about his paternity. Not a word, but only about Lucas's falling off the wagon...Will thought it was because of him, which is why she explained about the breakup with a woman which sent him off in the lst place.

Well, so far, because of the shooting, we have JJ & Lani breaking up, Abe firing Hope, Theo in a coma, Tripp upset because Kate is blackmailing him to be quiet about seeing her with Theo, tho he only is doing so to protect Kayla; Chad throwing Andre out because he thinks he is the one who put Theo up to something, Kate guilt ridden because it was her that did so, Rafe getting appointed commissioner, which probably won't sit well with Hope.

Okay now today was a good episode. Despite Kate's selfishness involving Theo, I actually think she did somewhat get through to Will. It's funny though Kate mentioning to Will that Sami has changed and grown up now. Umm, I think you spoke too soon Kate, because it seems Sami is exactly the same old way as she used to be.

Well, at least the handkerchief was explained today. I know a few posters were asking why would a young man have something like that. Leave it to Susan to put that in Will's head. I loved the ending with Will and Lucas. You can tell with Lucas smiling and laughing, he probably thinks that he is hallucinating Will again and he isn't real.

Ok so I thought the dialogue between Rafe/Hope and then Rafe/Abe was actually quite good. I thought it was a logical discussion in both cases and I liked the delivery. Rafe will probably explain everything tomorrow but I was disappointed that we didn't see Abe actually offer him the job or see his reaction to Abe. That just leaves too much up to speculation. Rafe gets enough criticism right now from fans of EJ/Sami or fans who don't like Rafe/Hope and refuse to separate characters from the couple. I was hoping these scenes would be very cut and dry and they were not. Still I'm looking forward to the fallout tomorrow.

Also, I do think Abe is out of line at this point and I hope he faces personal and professional consequences for it.

The Will/Kate stuff was pretty good. I think the show is trying to portray Sami as the most desperate one in all this.

Lucas will probably think he is hallucinating again.

I wish I cared enough about JJ and Lani as a couple to care about them breaking up over the course of 2 episodes but I don't. Maybe Eli can comfort Lani now.

Should have made Rafe the Commissioner in the first place. Just my opinion. Too many other people tied to some family on the police force.

Kate - why does everyone swallow her bilge? She became a CEO because of her experience? PUHLEEZ! Why does Chad think she is so innocent? Makes him look stupid. Chad is going to sever ties with Andre who in turn has become a much more caring person. Chad will be kicking himself when he learns the truth. Kate is a Fake, a phony and doggone it, I DON'T LIKE HER.

Sami is over the top but they make her psychotic. Who wouldn't be if their son was "buried", you grieved to find he is alive and has no clue about you. Her lack of reference to her other children is a slam on the writers. It doesn't cost them unless Sami is paid by the word.

Not telling Lucas is dumb. Maybe he needs something like this. For crying out loud, the man is drowning, throw him a life preserver

Glad JJ was mature enough to break off with Lani. It is better that he did it. Someday, maybe Abe will learn who broke up with who.

Read in other areas the assumption who is sabotaging DiMera Enterprises, it really will be anti-climactic since it is taking so darn long.

Please do not let Kate get to Theo and save her royal butt by playing the family pity card. Hopefully Theo's honesty will stop that from happening.

Not buying these "tests" that can help Will regain his memory.

Move this along little dogie.

:eek::eek:Sami: So now she's had Ben kidnapped apparently as part of some lunatic plan to restore Will's memory. This is a major felony, but she almost surely won't pay the price. This is too bad because it might be worth the price of admission to see the Salem screecher forced to interact with Hattie, Coco, and the rest of the jolly jailhouse gang.

:sick:Angry Abe: He's agreed to do the right thing in the JJ case, but won't reinstate Hope. Not to be cynical, but if JJ had shot any unarmed felon other than Theo, Abe would be in front of Titan TV cameras defending him.

:angry:Chad: He's now rushed to judgment about Andre. This jumping to conclusions because of a cryptic phone call would appall the mighty Phoenix. If his portrait could speak, it might have a few choice words for his surprise son.

:sick:Kate: She gets the award for euphemism of the year for describing Sami as "complicated." She may have been trying to be kind to Will, but sugarcoating the bitter pill that is Samantha Gene won't do him any good in the long run. With Sami, forewarned is forearmed.

Meanwhile, Kayla mentioned she went to another hospital, which sounds far away, very recently. Like, since she separated JJ and Abe in yesterday's episode. Yet Rafe and Hope talk about how she was "just fired" and Lani/JJ are having the same conversation. Awful pacing.
not Kate’s place to tell the tale
Uh-oh, I think we have another doppelgänger on our hands!
Lucas is talking to his bottle or something
He was talking to Tom and Alice's plaque. Touching, devastating scene. My tweet from yesterday still applies.
Well, so far, because of the shooting, we have
ALL fruit of the poisonous tree. The shooting was stupid and Abe's vengeance should have a logical limit. This is my major problem with the show now; an umbrella story that stinks.
Rafe gets enough criticism right now from fans of EJ/Sami or fans who don't like Rafe/Hope and refuse to separate characters from the couple. I was hoping these scenes would be very cut and dry and they were not.
Testify!
Maybe Eli can comfort Lani now.
My suspicion is that this breakup will lead to re-pairings, but allow lingering feelings and occasional fallbacks. It might be the only good to come out of this nonsense. (And JJ's part is one of the more believable ones.)

Thanks, Poirot.

Poor Roman. He was in spoiler pictures for today and he got cut.

Susan sounds like a good mother. She taught Will how to be a gentleman
and always carry a handkerchief.

Is JJ a gentleman too because he broke up with Lani? He said he was doing
this for her family.

It was interesting how Kate was trying to explain to Will why he was
3 when he had his first Christmas with Lucas. She said to talk to
Sami. He said Susan said Sami was a monster.

Is Sami a monster? She got Ben out of the looney bin. Were the two
men her bodyguards or some henchmen that work for the DiMeras?

Does JJ really have to break up with Lani? They can't conspire to simply avoid contact until the Abe-dust settles? Dumb, presuming they love each other.

Abe/Rafe discussion regarding Hope's firing provided an opportunity for NBC to slip in another PSA (Public Service Announcement) this time regarding police shootings of unarmed folks.

I can't take much more of Kate's head-tossing. Does Days have a chiropractor on-site during taping? Give it a rest, Kate! PS: If it's the hair: snip, snip!

It's a wonder that Lucas didn't swing on Will for trying to take his bottle!

Have to concede that Sami remains the Queen of Impatience, but she has a full cast of Days contenders! I guess that is a standard soap opera plot procedure.

I hope that Hope will be as gracious about Rafe's promotion, as she expected him to be about hers.

Is an MRI the appropriate test to determine Theo's brain function??

Eras and Katmouse, I like that Susan taught Will to carry a handkerchief. They survive in a pocket much better than Kleenex does. Not much room for them in those stupid skinny pants, though! :) I think there was a saying that a gentleman should always carry a pocket knife, too.

It really wasn't Kate's place to even say what she did about Sami ("painting her in a bad light") even if she continued enough to say she's (Sami) grown up.

An MRI is ok if you're looking for inflammation, tumors, irregularites, but if you're looking for brain function you want an EEG.

Edited to add: You know, if Sami could reign in her temper and impulsiveness, I think she could really be the true heir to the Stefano DiMera mantle of evil. She has been cold and calculating in the past, and the way she handled that last scene was beautiful, and very reminiscent (for me) of Stefano.
