Brent is just leaving Sonny & Will's apt., having been going over plans with Sonny. The guys say good-bye, then Will leaves to go see his mom. Brent returns, having forgotten his tablet, has some ideas for tiles in the kitchen or bar, sits down to show Sonny (who is babysitting). Brent gets to talking about a hike they did once, and then pulls out a brochure for a hike at Bryce Canyon, something Sonny always wanted to do. Brent invites him, as most everyone is in couples or something, even tho it is a group thing, but Sonny won't go without Will. And Arianna is too little, plus they do not want to leave Gabi to cope alone yet. The guys have a couple beers, chat, Will comes back, Brent is just leaving. Will spies the brochure, gets the lowdown from Sonny, and begins encouraging him to go with Brent. Sonny tells him to just stop it. He doesn't want to go without Will, and perhaps some day, but right now, this is where they both are and want to be.

At the jail, Lucas has come to see Sami, newspaper in hand, teasing her a bit about being arrested in front of the bishop. She is happy to see him, he just got back, was out of town, saw the kids, they miss her. Lucas asks the cop guard (who looks really bored) for a bit of privacy, then he & Sami whisper about Bernardi, with Lucas blaming himself for them not getting the items themselves in the first place, botching the whole attempt. He promises to help any way he can, and tells her to contact him if she needs anything at all. He leaves, The bored guard is standing in front of her cell, she asks for water, he ignores her. So she nicely says Please, and calls him sir. He gets a bottle of water, stands in front of her. She reaches out her hand, he drops it on the floor, not sure if she can reach it thru the bars, and he walks away.

Chad is waiting for Stefano's answer to his question, Stefano cannot believe he wasted his one question on Bernardi, but after beating around the bush a bit, says, no, he did not send Bernardi to kill Rafe. Chad is rather disbelieving, which makes Stefano angry, figuring his brother has turned him against his father. He then tells Chad to be careful, because actually, he could teach him many things that would be advantageous to him.

Chad is pondering this, when Kate comes upon him. He asks her if Stefano ever gave her his word about something, but then she learned he lied. A reluctant Kate has to admit, no, he never did. Chad mentions something about Stefano being proud of "giving his word". She thinks Stefano is not to be trusted, but Chad tells her that Stefano swears he did not send Bernardi to kill Rafe. (no, just deprive him of his manhood, grrrr.)

Nick is near the Pub when Vargas appears, wondering what happened to him, why he has not gotten back to him about doing business together. Nick explains a lot has happened, but then Vargas gets on his case about letting Jensen continue to ruin his life. Nick says he is fine, but Vargas disagrees. He tells him that there are others who would have hung themselves in their cell after what Nick went thru, but he survived. He is stronger than he thinks he is. (Actually, Vargas is quite nice about all this!). He leaves as Nick gets a text from Gabi.

At the hospital, Rafe is dreaming that Stefano has come in ther oom, and is choking him. He opens his eyes to find a nurse there. She leaves, goes out in the hall to tell Gabi & Kate that Rafe is now awake. They go see him, chat a bit. Kate has to leave, but will be back. He says she doesn't have to be there all the time. Gabi visits, they talk Arianna, and Rafe getting stronger, and able to hold her. She leaves the room, calls Nick who arrives, being he was close by. Rafe wants to see him. Nick goes in, and before he can say much, Rafe tells him to be quiet, he is going to talk, and Nick can listen. He proceeds to talk of what Nick went thru in prison, came out, lied to everyone, manipulated, tried to keep Will from his baby. He promised to care for Gabi & Arianna, but wanted Will out, and treated both Will & Sonny like garbage behind Gabi's back. Nick tries to interrupt a couple times as Rafe goes thru the litany of transgressions committed by Nick, but Rafe just plows on.
He finally tells Nick that he will be watching him, keeping an eye on him, and see if he really becomes the man he says he wants to be. Nick leaves, almost stops to talk to Gabi again, but just gets on the elevator.

Cameron has been studying Chad's ex-rays, is not happy, calls Kayla for a consult, she notices the same thing he does. He has a call in to the specialist, Dr. Ando, and will get his opinion. He won't talk to his patient until then. Kayla offers to talk to Chad for him, but Cameron says no, he will do it.
Earlier, Ej sits in Kayla's office, as she beats around the bush a bit about the medical files for Bernardi. In short, the surgeon's notes do not match up with the autopsy report. She thinks if they exhume the body, and do another autopsy, perhaps they can tell what is going on, because in her opinion, Bernardi should not have died.

EJ goes to the jail to see Sami, just as Will is leaving. He tells her (whispering) that there may be a break in the case, explaining what Kayla has noted, and Justin is filing papers to get the body exhumed. Sami is as overjoyed as containing herself in whispers can be. EJ has made sure Kayla would be in on the 2nd autopsy. Sami thinks that whoever took the razor, wanted to make sure Bernardi did not wake up and tell for whom he was working. EJ is sure she will be home tonight.

In the square, Cecily is lighting up a cigar for Stefano, gives it to him, then asks how his chat with his son went. Stefano laughs, as he blows out a cloud of smoke, and says "better than expected". He gets a phone call, says, wait, wait, wait. When did this happen?
Then he starts chuckling. So that is their plan now? Ha. He blows more smoke. They are going to be quite surprised. Ha. Ha. Ha.

EJ expects Justin to get a court order, have a body exumed, a 2nd autopsy completed, findings filed with the court, and bail granted, all in time for Sami to make it home before the mac & cheese hits the dinner table.

They can't come up with any other reason for Lucas not being around than him being out of town. Call me petty, but I'd prefer if Allie was with her dad while her mom is locked up.

Thanks for the summary. LOL at Rafe's dream-as if Stefano would do his own dirty work. And the 3rd day in a row of a break from JJ, Theresa, Daniel and Jennifer! Plus, Lucas!:birthday:

OK, now I actually think this episode is pretty good! Everything seemed to mesh well nicely, and we saw Vargas! And the ending was priceless!

I'm so sick of EJ pushing his weight around when he interacts with women. I did not like his tone and overall nastiness with Kayla. She's trying to help you and your filthy fiancé out you jerk! Makes you wonder how different the conversation would have gone if Justin had been present.

Lucas sighting!!

Will needs to get over his insecurities. If he keeps pushing Sonny away trying to get him to hang out with Brent then he better not be surprised if one of these days things take a romantic turn between Sonny/Brent.

I know they weren't pounding the beers back but it just sort of rubbed me the wrong way to see Sonny drinking while Arianna was in his care.

She's trying to help you and your filthy fiancé out you jerk!
I thought the same thing! I wanted Kayla to kick him out of her office and say "I'll take care of helping MY NIECE".
I know they weren't pounding the beers back but it just sort of rubbed me the wrong way to see Sonny drinking while Arianna was in his care.
Yeah, seemed odd that Sonny would drink while taking care of Ari by himself.

Marlena, Brady, Eric, Hope, Kayla, Will - all tools to portray EJ as this endearing man who will go to the ends of the earth to see justice served for the woman he loves. Forget the damage he's done to people EACH of them love. When will it end and who's next to put all of their faith in EJ, the mailman, the pizza delivery guy? How could Kayla resist the urge not to knee him in the groin considering what he'd done to Steve. How can Will not spit in his face for even breathing in the same air as him considering EJ terrorizing his mom is the domino that started this baloney. Have to give Adrienne credit, he really is like Lord Voldemort - "from now on, you put your faith in me".

Thanks for writing the show up! What a day of long-time-no-seers. Lucas, Vargas, Nick (within the past few days returning) & THE SALEM SPECTATOR! It's still in publication!:clap:

The rest of this may not be so warmly received though.

Non-alcoholic beer & root beer are also in similar bottles so we don't know if Sonny & Brent were drinking 2 beers each while watching Arianna.

Thankfully Will is at least speaking self responsibility for being at the crux of this whole mess. I wish he would just confess to the cops. I liked him telling Lucas that, but wasn't so keen that Lucas was still wanting Will to stay quiet. I did enjoy the Lucas/Sami scenes & love them as friends.

I hope they are not going with the Sonny/Brent/Will route. Sonny & Will shouldn't have to be attached at the hip & should trust each other enough to have gay male friends without it being anything more.

EJ raising his voice to Kayla wasn't disrespectful or uncalled for to me. It seems natural to be on edge when you know things you can't prove (Bernardi being a dirty cop working for Stefano) & dealing with the one you love in jail charged with Murder 1.

I wish sanctimonious Rafe would have thought about giving that speech to Gabi when she told him about her Chad obsession & the fallout from her actions hiring Andrew. She also manipulated people, lied & did the opposite behind their back. He told Nick the only thing he didn't blame Nick for was Jensen beating Rafe up. And now he's had a 2nd dream about Stefano attacking him yet again it doesn't make him upset at Kate. Yet a dream of Sami shooting him did. Can we please put him back in a coma?

Vargas is confusing. Rough, tough, still having prison mentality, but every so often dropping his shield. The jury is still out on him for me. I can't get it out of my head how he acted towards Nick at the hospital just after the Jensen fiasco.

Cecily looking good still. Funny to see her lighting Stefano's cigar for him. Chad & Stefano's conversation was interesting. It is so hard to read Stefano's face.

Maybe I'm a sucker for a redemption story but I like that Vargas is getting a change of heart. I don't know, I just kind of like the character. Not sure why. I also love that the writers are making this version of Nick as fickle as them. He just dropped his plan to start a business. I found that really funny. I enjoyed the fact that Rafe is not cutting Nick slack for his past misdeeds. It made sense with his job and personality. But like I said before, I'm really excited that the writers are doing something with Nick's problems. No one is just brushing them off. I just hope this story is heading somewhere good.

On to other things, Brent asking Sonny to go hiking with him was very inappropriate. Is it safe to assume Brent is making a play for Sonny while he's still dating Will? I don't know why people just let EJ boss them around or even try to help him. Maybe I'm not as forgiving as the people of Salem, but if EJ did half the things he did to me that he's done to some of the citizens, I would have a hard time even being in the same room with him.

I kind of love that Stefano is walking around Salem without a care in the world, yet EJ thought Stefano would be crying or something over his big move. Oh EJ, EJ, one day you will learn.

I also think it's sad and amusing that many of us get super happy with the rare sighting of Lucas. I kind of shouted Lucas in excitement--in my head of course--when I saw him on today's episode.

@DaysDegrassi

I don't know about Brent. I get the vibe he's trying to come off just friendly but has a hidden agenda, especially the way he kind of disregards Will when he's in the room, but maybe that's just because this is Days and you should trust no one. Haha.

Oh, yes. Brent knows full well Sonny is living with Will, is committed to him, and has no interest in even looking at another guy. But Brent keeps attempting to entice Sonny into these trips, outings, etc. Will sees this, and his insecurities have him feeling he is preventing Sonny from doing things he really enjoys. So Will tries encouraging Sonny, who insists no.

EJ trying to come off as the DiMera to be feared is laughable.
I understand EJ being very hurt by Stefano's rejection of him as his son, and his need for payback. However, trying to help those he supposedly cares about via legal means is proving pretty hard. And daddy dearest is always one step ahead when it comes to underhanded and devious.
