Any other Downton Abbey fans out there? I think it is the best thing on TV, and I wish we got more than 7 weeks a year!!!!!!!! I am going to go into serious withdrawal after next week's finale. sigh

No, but I've heard great reviews.

The best thing on tv, JMHO, is Once Upon A Time!:)

Oh, well then you should definitely watch. If anything it is just such a beautiful show to look at. And it has plenty of soap opera-y plot elements to it - but in the best sense of the term.

I am sooo rooting for Mary and Matthew. But with Matthew's guilt over Lavinia, who knows?

I'm rooting for Mary and Matthew too. I don't think it is Matthew's guilt that will get in the way. I think it will be what Richard is holding over Mary's head! We may have to wait til next season to see how this gets resolved. :(

Even tho I have DSL, it just takes forever for me to watch something online. If a clip is 15 minutes, takes me 35. So I always hesitate to try and watch full episodes of anything online, even including you tube.

I think it is a combo of both, and other factors too, Lil0. Although I do think Sir Richard will be the greater impediment. So excited for Shirley MacLaine to guest star!

I LOVE Downton Abbey. I liked it so much the 1st year, that I watched it all again on netflix last summer. Couldn't wait for the second set of episodes to start.

If you like this show, you would probably also like Lark Rise to Candleford. This has a similar English class difference with Lark Rise as the poor village, and Candleford as the town with uppity people. The fellow who plays Mr. Bates in Downton Abbey is a central character. Many of the actors from the first season of DA were also in it.

I re-watched all of season 1 just before the second season started. Wanted to have it all fresh in my mind. I love a lot of those British period shows: Upstairs Downstairs, Forsyth Saga, a few others that escape my mind at the moment. I think Downton Abbey is my favorite. And Maggie Smith is such a hoot!!! I think the other cast members have a hard time getting through a scene with her and keeping a straight face. [She wondered if the nut cracker was something to remove pebbles from the horse's feet. :rotfl:]

In an interview on PBS, she said she throws in a lot of lines that she thinks someone of her age would've come up with at that time. She loves getting the startled / shocked looks from the other actors, and the director likes getting them on film.

0/ I'm a fan, only problem I'm very late to the ball !! Just started with this season--So, I'm ordering up season 1 and the Xmas and then my
"habit" will be covered till Season 3 begins.
Love anything Miss Maggie Smith is in and cannot wait for Shirley McLaine to come on as the "American mother in law"
There should be some really good lines for them both !!

I really like that show! I only got started with the second episode of this season. I'd tried to watch before, during the first season, but the settings were so dark on my screen I could hardly see what was happening. For some reason PBS shows are often that way for me. I assumed the second season would be the same so didn't try to watch until the second episode, and to my delight, it was no longer dark! Oh, and I guess they must replay each current episode later during the week. I was up in the middle of the night a few nights ago and saw it was on.

I Netflixed (yes, I'm using that as a verb, like Google! Ha!) the first season right before the second season began, so by the second episode of the second season I was all caught up. I fell in love with this show. I know when this season is over, I'm restarting with the first season all over again.

Thanks for the interesting article, Redsquirrel. It is going to be sooooooo hard to wait for the third season! I may have to keep re-watching seasons 1 & 2 just so I don't go into serious withdrawal pains.
