With the EJ campaign in dire straits after the debate debacle, perhaps it's time for Elvis to start giving serious consideration to winning the election the old-fashioned way -- stealing it. He should: 1) get Will busy identifying all recently-deceased Salemites who are still on the election rolls (perhaps Alice will vote for EJ); and 2) start stockpiling bottles of liquor, Misty Circle DVDs, and stacks of $20, $50, and $100 bills (or whever the going rate for votes is) to induce non-civic-minded Salemites to get to the polls and vote DiMera. Finally, if Salem is using a computerized sytem to record votes, Will should be put to work figuring out how to make sure that large numbers of votes for Mayor Carver simply vanish into cyberspace.

The initial message went into the spoiler catagory largely because the first installment of Election Rumors is here, and so that the new edition will be able to accomodate comments on any election spoiler information that might appear. As far as Mayor Daley is concerned, EJ can't hope to compete. The late Mayor Richard J. Daley had a well-oiled political machine behind him. As the disastrous debate demonstrated, EJ's campaign is a creaking, wheezing wreck.

Perhaps the writers will understand your point and put some of your thoughts into work ~~ heaven knows it's the longest race in history, so lets add
a bit more intrigue to this boring, dull, so called Mayor's race.

Well elections now seem to run from the day one is elected for 2-4 years until the next election. Politicians are only interested in maintaining their power and not serving the people.

Mayor Carver and his campaign manager are far too squeamish to get involved in campaign dirty tricks. They presented a sorry spectacle today: Jennifer standing there seeming tongue-tied, while Dishonest Abe literally hid behind his blustering wife. If these two don't get their act together, they could still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. If they're really out to win they should be leaking "anonymous tips" to the press that will result in headlines like: "DIMERA THREATENS REPORTER AFTER QUESTIONS ABOUT WIFE'S PORN STAR PAST," "DIMERA FORCED TO ADMIT SLEAZY AFFAIR WITH WIFE'S SISTER," "DIMERA ANGRILY DENIES ANYTHING INAPPROPRIATE ABOUT GIFT OF PLUSH TOWNHOUSE TO INTERN," or "DIMERA: 'I AM NOT A CROOK.'"

Yes, the writers are showing good sides to villains and darker sides to the heroes/heroines. It makes them more complex?

Already a cesspool of lies, deceit, and blackmail, the EJ campaign appears to have reached a new low -- counting on their opponent's marital troubles to bring victory. EJ and Nicole seem to believe that when Lexie finds out she was lied to by Dishonest Abe, there will be hell to pay, the debate cheating will become public knowledge, and a backlash against Abe will win EJ the election. Unless the mayor finally wakes up and arranges for the public to learn about the real EJ, he may be joining the recent parade of characters taking jobs at Salem U.

The writers think so; I disagree, as instead of lightly shading, as with a pencil, they are using a blunt sharpie and large scribbles.

They certainly are under a hiring boom there, eh? Not like our public colleges here in WI.

I have to say, I like this idea a little - especially if Will isn't an entirely willing accomplice and maybe meets someone interesting along the way. It would certainly be more interesting than these cliché speeches about the economy and job creation, switching debate questions, and ignoring the fact that EJ is from a crime syndicate family. Please, I'll watch Hardball for cliché speeches on how to grow an economy. I watch Days to give me some drama.

Another spoiler thread is reporting that Dishonest Abe wins the election, but that there is some question about voting irregularities and that Lexie is incensed at her husband's behavior. This sets up various possible scenarios. If foolish Jennifer actually did arrange for vote fraud, then a recount could put EJ in front and a long dark night of DiMera rule will descend on Salem. If instead, the debate cheating goes public, Mayor Carver, his image hopelessly compromised, would then probably resign in disgrace and another member of city government would get the job in the same way that a vice-president succeeds a president. Salem would then probably need a special election to fill the mayor's office, giving the residents a chance to vote for a third person -- somebody with less baggage than hapless Abraham.

Yes, I saw a spoiler in some thread in this forum that Lexxie overhears shocking news. She has to hear Jenn and/or Abe talking about the 'switch', right. It's too soon for that play -- a sorta hurry up its sweeps month?!?!

EJ is not Stefano. I don't care about him anymore.........period. I hope Ian is a better villain. And he must be a good one to blackmail Victor into appointing him CEO or have some big connection to him.

Probably said this elsewhere already (in that other thread, but I think Nicole is going to arrange for a shift of EJ's votes to Abe, then ask for recount, the discrepancy will be noted, Abe blamed, probably. Yes, I think Lexie overhears some talk between Abe & Jen, realizes there was hanky panky during the debate....and thus this latest bit about the vote count will have her thinking Abe rigged something.

Sure cannot wait for Nicole to learn about Sami & EJ's grief stricken moment.

Yes, Poirot, I read your other post. I do agree Nicole would definitely be that sly. But Lexxie needs to believe more deeply in Abe. After all these years and 1 discretion?
