I have to say, I loved the scene with Will and Sami today. For so many reasons. I shall try to enumerate:

    1) Will basically responded to Sami's excuses for why she had sex with EJ, or how that sex didn't really count, with the same answers many of the posters here have expressed, "So what?? Grief means you go running into the arms and pants of EJ?" This to me shows that the writers are not clueless as to how ridiculous that reasoning pretty much is. Will is a more objective voice here, or at least has a different perspective. Sami's reasoning was her own perspective - as only she can understand how she was truly feeling at that moment. Only she can know what if felt like to be wrapped up in all those painful, dark feelings and want to numb it for a moment. Only she can understand the frenzy. And of course she is trying to justify and defend her actions in her own mind. So, I just liked that we got in Will the other side of the story, the other perspective. The "yeah, grief usually makes me want to run out have sex" outlook. So, at least the writers aren't totally delusional and clueless as to how that event came off. Maybe they are just answering the complaints of angry fans, but it seemed genuine to me.

    2) Sami was kind of true to character here. I don't doubt that she feels truly terrible and guilt-ridden for what she has done. Better to feel guilty than to think what she did doesn't merit any feeling of guilt. But of course, she had yet to tell Rafe about it. So that is part of the old Sami we know too well, the secret-keeping, self-preservationist Sami. I am not saying I like that side of Sami; I just appreciate the character continuity of it. Even if she isn't the same manipulative teenager she was years ago, she still has some of the familiar qualities. And her asking Will not to say anything to Rafe about the sex was an example of the same thing. I hated that she asked Will to do that! I hated how selfish and immature it was to ask your teenage son to lie for you, to keep this terrible secret for you. But I liked it b/c it felt very Sami to me. She would...she would, to save her own butt, ask her son to do that. I don't dislike Sami - in fact, I like her a lot and can forgive her things it seems many cannot. And I can accept a lot of her flaws, even though they enrage me, as part of her character. So, as long-timish viewer, even though I was so angry at her for saying those things, I appreciated the character consistency of it.

    3) I can kind of see the reason for bringing up this story-line again (Marlena and the conference room table) and bringing it full-circle. YES! Sami hopefully FINALLY understands the torture and pain she put her mother through. Hopefully she finally understands how much of a brat she has been, lo' these many years. And Will knew. Will knew what Sami had done - how this was a daughter repeating her mother's mistakes. It seemed a little too on the nose maybe - like Will knew too well how Sami had felt about her mother and John. Did she talk to him about how much she hated her mother for that?? Maybe, I can't remember. But anyway - it finally clicked to me today why the writers thought to maybe circle back on this storyline. And I am excited to see how Sami will be with her mother and John now. Maybe I am giving her and the writers too much credit, but I look forward to someone here eating some crow and finally growing up, as she can now empathize with her mother a bit. Unless she insists that what she did with EJ was nothing like what Marlena did with John.....

    4) ...which is another thing I liked about this scene. Will called her out so precisely on that defense and said that, NO, of course it's NOT the same, BECAUSE AT LEAST MARLENA LOVED JOHN!!! That also sounds like opinions or sentiments expressed by some posters here. So, I liked this cut-thru-the-cr@p Will.

    5) The acting was great on both sides. I could feel Will's hot, angry sadness and tears. And I believed him when he said he would never forgive Sami. And I believed Sami when she said she really wanted to understand what Will was hiding, and that she loved him. And I could see her mortified that her son knew about the sex - both b/c that meant she was caught, and b/c that meant she had subjected her son to that trauma. And I could see here battling to defend her actions, differentiate them from what Marlena had done with John - but also realizing that Will was exactly right and, oh my God, what was she thinking all these years? Maybe I am imagining she was feeling these things b/c they are thoughts I felt she should be having...but whatever. I am sticking with my interpretation.

My only objection is that this great scene and all the garbage it unearthed was not allowed to linger a bit longer. That Sami was not forced to stew in these revelations. That right after, came that kiss between Rafe and Carrie, and an excuse for Sami to stop thinking about what had just happened with Will, to stop sitting in the foul stench of her own guilt, and to start potentially playing the blame game with someone else.

Agree 200 %. Sami will definitely see a way out with this and turn everythings around. But isn't that what the writers wanted ? To ruin other characters (Rafe, even Carrie, Austin, etc.) in order for the Sami show to go on ?

What wonderful thoughts you have...now let's see if the writers agree with them... especially do they want Sami to realize what a brat she's been all these years or is that in the past now that she's discovered "the kiss"? OH, I can't wait till this evening so I get to see the entire show at one time instead of just the last 15 minutes!

I'm so glad its finally out! I wish the Ej/Sami hump-a-thon had never happened...wouldn't it be nice to find out that it was a night mare or something? ugh... and Carrie and Austin were already sleezy characters... I hate that they ruined Rafe. I'm still annoyed that we never fully found out what happened to Emily though. sheesh... dropped storylines just bug me!

Poor Rafe...he's such an "innocent" no-brainhead...or, is he?

i dont see how any character is being ruined for sami. her secret will still come out and then rafe will get to blow up at her for blowing up at him. everyones being ruined. carrie was already ruined though

that was a pretty hard push will gave sami

i wish they had explored emily more. ej/sami/rafe game and sami vs carrie fight got old a long time ago

I liked the well thought out post, whatsherface 2, I will not quote it in interest of space though! I thought the characters did the scene masterfully. I do think Sami will evaluate what she sees Rafe and Carrie do in her own way. Her own guilt will find a way to color what happens. Sami has a center that knows what the wholly right thing is to do, but her own self interest always plays a role as you pointed out.

Now that the rift with her and Will has been opened wide, I want to see what the writers will do to mend it.

There's only one thing I would of changed in Will letting the proverbial cat out of the hat today. When Will finally yelled to Sami “I saw you! I know what you did! I saw you having sex with EJ”, setting Sami back a few years to Marlena and John's tryst. Change it to Will saying “I just realized I am gay, now I have to live with seeing you having sex with EJ when your family needed you” (or something like that). It’s all about family to Will.

Rafe has been a loyal, faithful, upstanding man, and father figure, which was good for Sami, and why Will respected him so much, and enjoyed the family life he was living.
Sami has always been faithful to her men, but now, that is no longer the case.
Sami cannot be standing there alone with the red A printed on her forehead....so Rafe had to also transgress, Sami had to catch him...and thus his character ruined so that Sami would have a partial leg to stand on. We know darn well her sins will fly out the window now that she had seen her husband and sister "sinning".
Gad, I hate this story. :(

Well, well, well....I finally got to see the entire show! It was heart-warming...although I could have done without the scene that Carrie & Rafe had with the poor lady whose hubby was making a part for her....cute, but just another one of those time wasting fillers.

What a MAGNIFICENT show! Will was great...it's difficult to believe that Sami just didn't know what was bothering him...that she had no clue, couldn't guess what he was getting to. It must have just simply slipped her mind?
He had it all down to the last crossed I's and dotted T's...a note to the little ones, the suitcases ready to go and now that it's out and over, he's "free" and from the looks of it, he's ready to join the guys. Wait till they get to see his new pad.

She really was a sad case...couldn't change his mind at all. His words about Marlena...made me warm all over. <g>

Way to go, Will!! On to bigger and better things. The rest of your family will have no difficulty with your status, you know that and you grew a foot taller in my eyes!

I am so glad Will finally found the strength to tell his mother what he saw, what he thinks of her and what her actions will do to ruin their family. The freedom of being on his own and finally telling Sami what he saw seems to have opened him up to joining Sonny's two friends and going to the club with them, which he's always declined in the past... so it would seem that it won't be long now for him to announce his sexual orientation! Chandler's acting was so impressive, he knocked it out of the park today!

It made me cry to watch Will tell his mother how she robbed him of a happy family while she pursued her romantic fantasies. And he called her on judging Marlena so hard when she knew she made the same mistake.

Especially since she said she's felt guilty and had been torturing herself with "every breath that I take." Get a clue Sami. She still has no clue about what Will is going through. They say if you're gay your mother always knows. They clearly weren't thinking of selfish Sami type moms.
