Sally Kemp, who appeared as Eugene Bradford's mother, Vanessa Van Kessler, in 16 episodes of "Days of Our Lives" from 1984-1985, passed away at the age of 84 on March 21, 2017. Her death was confirmed in the memorial list of the Fall 2017 issue of SAG-AFTRA Magazine.

Ms. Kemp appeared in the ground-breaking miniseries "Roots" in 1977 and recurred on "Dynasty" from 1982-1984. She made countless guest appearances from the 1950s through the 2000s on series such as "Bonanza", "Gunsmoke", "The Waltons", "Kojak", "Bosom Buddies", "Hart to Hart", "Three's Company", "Knots Landing", "Dallas", "Ed" and "Hope & Faith." She also appeared in several features films and on Broadway.

Sarah Rush Kemp was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 7, 1933. Her father was composer/bandleader Hal Kemp, an inductee in the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame. Ms. Kemp grew up in Texas and North Carolina, where she first appeared on the stage in the fourth-grade production of The Sleeping Beauty. Her family moved to New York in 1945. After graduating from the Greenwood School in Maryland, she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She made her professional debut off-Broadway in 1951 and her Broadway debut in The First Gentleman in 1957. She leaves behind her daughter, Sarah; and grandson, Aiden.
