    Dear Nicole and Rafe,

    Run for the hills. Run away as far and as fast as you can from your poisoned relationships.

    Preferably together.

    :wink:

    RE: a Nicole-Rafe pairing, my preference would be for Sami and Rafe eventually to reconcile, but Rafe turning to Nicole sure would burst Carrie's bubble, fretting needlessly over her feelings for Rafe.

    I have decided I am firmly in the 'I don't want a Carrie/Rafe pairing' camp so I'd like to see Nicole and Rafe together. I may end up hating it, but right now it sounds interesting. Nicole and Rafe could have the relationship I wanted him to have with Sami. He's the good guy and she's the bad girl doing sneaky stuff like being underhanded in business and all. Ya know, without all that disgusting lying cheating garbage they have Sami doing. Oops, is my bitterness showing again? :wink:

    I am a bit worried that these writers might go that way with Sami and EJ, but hopefully that won't be the case! Personally, I'm holding out for a Sami/Lucas reunion. I did really like Sami & Rafe together at one time but I have always liked her better with Lucas.

    with Nicole pregnant and hiding it from EJ - she and Rafe would make a perfect couple since Rafe has experience in that area.

    I have the feeling that it will be Dr.Dan to help Nicole hid her pregnancy from EJ and possibly the two will pair in the process.

    I was going to groan about the thought of them re-doing the whole safe-house thing, but then I remembered how that story started and since EJ is Mayor now.... :wink: :D

    I still care about some of the characters but I 100% agree that the Sami/Rafe story just makes me very sad. I LOVE Rafe! I have always had mixed feelings about Sami but I thought with Rafe in her life he would turn her around. I've been watching since 1969 so I know Sami's character as well as a lot of the others. I always thought of Sami as a petulant child/woman even as an adult who needed to grow up. I was hoping that Rafe would provide that and give her the stability/love/support and adoration she always felt she lacked even when she had Lucas which was of course a LOT better for her than any of the other men she had which were of course plentiful often to her demise. EJ was THE worst but then we all know that one.

    I still care about Maggie; Rafe; Abe; Marlena; John and a few others. Almost all of these characters were made seriously flawed at one point or another except for Rafe and Maggie of course, but I'm still rooting for a lot of the others despite their failings/mistakes etc.

    Hopefully the writers will listen to all of us and fix these badly lacking storylines which only leave us feeling disgusted/saddened/angry or just plain frustrated.

    I agree with previous posters about not caring anymore. A while ago, I would have hoped for a Lucas/Sami reunion, since I loved them together, and I never really cared for Sami and Rafe (I do like Rafe, though, but with someone else). But now, I can't see Sami with anyone anymore. The problem with the writers is they push things too far. Sami went back to being so selfish, so horrible and now so violent (in my opinion), that I just want her gone. So I certainly don't wish her on anyone, especially Lucas. Why would I want to root for someone like that ? Same with EJ. He is so evil, I don't enjoy his presence at all. These characters have become one-dimensional, thus I don't care for them at all. Even less if they are put in a "love story".

    Same with Jennifer now. The writers had her so far up Daniel's behind, I stopped caring. Did she have to end up with Jack ? Maybe, maybe not. But the way they wrote her character made me dislike her so much, now I just wish she ends up alone. Granted, she is not as bad as Sami, but still...

    Same for Nicole and Brady, who have become pathetic fools. And Abbigail ! :eek: Wow, these characters go through personality changes like I go through shirts in my closet (does that make sense ? :confused:)

    So, sadly, I am almost ready to stop watching, for good this time. Cause right now, Days of our Lives has become a waste of time for me and a mere shadow of what it used to be. :(

    Oh I still care about certain characters. I am not of the popular mindset re: Sami. I still like her, want to see her change, have hopes that she will. There is a LOT - and I mean A LOT - that I really don't like about her:

    1) her hypocritical treatment of Rafe knowing what she did with EJ;
    2) her constantly playing the victim and not being able to let the thing with Marlena and John just go already;
    3) thinking she is protecting others when she is just being selfish and protecting herself;
    4) asking everyone around her to lie for her, and putting undo pressure on Will to be the adult that cleans up her immature messes

    and so on and so on.

    And perhaps this reflects badly on me, but goshdarnit I can understand her and all her self-destructive irrationality. After all these years I can believe that she is still a bit insecure and can not trust the love of a man, even Rafe, to withstand such horrible news as the truth of the EJ romp. And that makes me sad. I can believe that she truly believes what she did with EJ was not worse than Rafe's kiss with Carrie, b/c she believes Rafe really has feelings for Carrie. I believe her first instinct is to look out for herself, and she doesn't realize the damage she causes as a result. These are all qualities she needs to change, as they do not befit a thirty-something mother of 4 children. Sami does need to grow up already.

    But I don't hate her, and I don't think her character is irredeemable. She is about to lose a lot. Rafe. Will. And once she is exposed as the mole at Countess W, she will have a lot to be afraid of! She is crashing, crashing hard - and I really believe she will be changed by the fallout. Of course her first instinct is to blame someone for Rafe finding out - I really wouldn't expect anything else from Sami. But she has shown the ability to be self-reflexive and honest with herself about her actions in the past - although these moments have been few and fare between - and I think she will be capable of it again. And this is all, for me, just leading up to Lucas' return. I am totally confident she will be able to confide in him about everything and he will support her whilst also not tolerating her BS and pointing out where she messed up (constructively, of course). She will crash and, with his help, rebuild the pieces. Who knows how the reveal about Will will affect her. I have been digging her scenes with Marlena and Will, and I don't think what they've both said to her has completely fallen on deaf ears. She might just need to lose everything that matters to her in order to truly hear what they've been saying. And it looks like that is about to happen in a big way!

    Well, Whatsherface, I have to disagree with your item #3...quote:

    3) thinking she is protecting others when she is just being selfish and protecting herself.

    I think she's long past "thinking about others" (never really doess that) and is only afraid of the consequences that would fall on her when someone "finds out" any secret she's holding onto. Maybe when she was 15 she got away with that and she's so used to it that she still thinks it's the only way to go...however she sure isn't looking any further than the moment.

    She has to know that if and when Rafe learns the secret he'll be upset, yes even heartbroken. BUT, with love on her side he will be able to come to terms with it and still love her and even fight for her... BUT, as Marlena said she'd best tell him before someone else does, or before he just finds out as bad news always travels fast.

    She still wants to berate him about "the kiss" without evening out the playing field. She just wants to forget about the EJ scenario and play the upset and "forgiving", wonderful wife. Doesn't work in my mind.

    how do u disagree - u think that Sami is genuinely protecting others? She may have in some cases in the past, re: her children. But in the current storyline, I think she thinks she's protecting others (i.e. Rafe), but it's really her impulse for self-preservation that's driving her (see today's show as an example).

    Well, I still think she thinks that (as per today's show), but she is painfully grasping at straws for some kind of justification to her actions

    Again, I do see Sami as acting like a 15 year old, only worrying about her secret being found out, not fully hearing what others are telling her, only worried that even though they feel this way, they still won't tell on her, right? She sounds like a grade schooler! But, I dunno, I can take it for what it is and accept that it's a current storyline pulling on old Sami-isms. I guess I just have faith that all of this exaggerated, hyperbolic regression is leading to something important - an epiphany, a fallout that really forces Sami to look at herself and see what she's done not just in the past few months, but all her life. Maybe I am hoping too much and giving the writers too much credit. I have REALLY loved her scenes with Marlena, and then with Marlena and Will. And some of the things Marlena has said to Sami are so incredibly spot on. I think Sami is so far into erasing the memory of EJ, of trying to undo reality so as to assuage her guilt, etc., that she can't really realize with an objective, critical eye what she has done until she has lost everything. And this is going to happen in a a big way. If Sami continues along this path even after the reveals and the fallout, then I might have to change my story here. But I am being patient and holding judgment, as I think this cartoonish Sami is going to give way to a different, hopefully improved character. I just have a lot of faith in Lucas, I guess =)
