As I once mentioned, Ron Carlivati and I attended the same college many years apart. The Winter 2023 issue of the college alumni magazine has an article about him, entitled “The Man Who Brought the Devil Back to Salem.” It tells how while in college, ReRon was a huge fan of One Life to Live. His other favorites included Dynasty, Knot’s Landing, and Falcon Crest.
After graduation, ReRon ended up as a very bored lawyer who finally quit his job after learning that his boss, another bored lawyer, had just signed a big contract on his novel. Hoping to land a writing job, he went to New York to job hunt, sleeping on a classmate’s couch. A lucky encounter at a bar landed him a successful interview at OLTL While at OLTL, one of his notable moves was bringing back psychopathic killer Powell Lord III and then killing him off after ten episodes. (Why is Orpheus still alive?)
Once at Days, ReRon was interested in another possession story, but when the TPTB decided to actually go ahead and do it, he was initially reluctant, fearing that a new possession story wouldn’t match the old one. The article notes that Days is doing better than expected on Peacock and that ReRon’s father, 88, is addicted to the show. Included with the article are photos of Carlivati with classmates, his husband, John and Marlena, Jackee Harry, and the cast after winning an Emmy.
