Be glad you don't live in Salem. Marlena is there to be with Ben as he is executed, as is Warden Floyd. Will arrives. Ben has been brought out, is being prepared. Marlena & Will both talk to him a bit, Ben really doesn't say anything. Meanwhile Ciara has been on the phone trying to talk to the warden, explaining about the new evidence, Ben not guilty, to no avail. Whoever it is hangs up on her, she rushes out to the prison, managing to arrive before any injection. She breathlessly tells all to the warden, who insists the jury found Ben guilty, so he won't stop it, only the governor can. Marlena calls Abe who knows the governor. Also, Ciara explained all about Christian Maddox being David's father, both missing. Will just saw Evan at Sonny's, he & Ciara take off for there.
Over at Sonny's, replay of him telling Evan about Will being not guilty and they are back together. Evan pulls his gun, Sonny bewildered. Oh, Evan just wanted to get his attention, and in fits and spurts, manages (with Sonny's questions) to tell about being David's father, Rafe firing him for using the fake name, claiming he only did so he could be with his son. He says he has been with both men & women, had told Sonny of bad relationship out west in the past, did not know Jordan was even pregnant, saw something on her Facebook page. He did realize she was not stable at some point.
Replay of Kayla flattering Rolf as she gets loose of her bonds, asking Rolf for water, he leaves, she gets up, only to have Stevano walk in, stop her. They argue, she is vehement that he will never get Marlena to love him. He insists he will, Justin will bring her.
Justin has run into John, told him about Stefano, how he wants 10 million which Justin has gotten, but also.....John knows, he wants Marlena. They talk over their options, John has a plan. They go to the Pub, where Hattie has been trying to see if perhaps Roman has developed some feelings for her. She is not happy over the interruption, but Justin & John are adamant, they tell Roman all, Hattie figures they will want her to pretend to be Marlena, they know a lot to ask, Roman objects, not fair to put her in this position, even is Hattie is game. This is not Steve, this is Stefano.
Kayla telling Stevano that Marlena will never love him, no matter what he does. Rolf suggests that perhaps he can make Marlena more receptive to Stefano's charms. He flatters him, but assures him she would still be Dr. Marlena Evans, just more willing to be with him. (sounds like drugging this time???)
Evan is frantic, tells Sonny he needs to get away with David, thought he, Sonny, David & Ari would have made nice family, right now needs to get some money from Sonny, so he can leave. He assures him David is safe. Ciara & Will burst in, Evan points his gun at them. They tell Sonny about Evan being David's father, yes, Sonny knows. But they go on about the DNA, & how it was Evan who killed Jordan. Evan is ready to shoot Sonny.
Steveano calls Justin, who assures him he has the money. Kayla is yelling to Justin not to cave. Hattie, pretending to be Marlena cuts in, (they are on speaker phone) telling Stevano not to hurt her friend, she is willing to make the trade.
At the prison, the governor calls the warden, seems Abe made quite the impassioned plea, but with no evidence, he won't stay the execution. Marlena is frantically going to call governor herself. Warden gives go ahead, Ben strapped down, IV inserted,. They raise the bed up so he can see Marlena & the warden. He is told what each of the 3 shots will do, one anesthetic so he won't feel anything, then a muscle relaxant that actually stops breathing, 3rd stops the heart.
Ben looks at Marlena, is so scared it appears, Marlena mouths “stay strong”.
