Days of Our Lives
Thursday, June 7, 2012

Maybe the writers did not realize this episode would be the supposed “cliffhanger” one that would end this week, but, be careful you don’t doze off if you get to see it. Carrie & Austin are in the park, just outside the square, yakking away about their baby, and how happy they are. He thinks she did not get enough sleep, offers to go get some food, she wants to go with. Rafe happens by, sees them kiss. Thru the arch they go, more yakking, Rafe passes by, congrat all the way round now, as Austin congratulates Rafe on the baby he & Nicole will be having. Rafe explains about getting his job with Salem PD back, Austin gets a call, leaves to get the food, promising to be back right away.
This give Rafe a chance to tell Carrie, the test results were wrong somehow, and they spend the next several minutes telling each other how evidently “they” were not to be, that tho she wanted to be with Rafe, she loves Austin. And yes, but was IN love with Rafe. The fates have decided that the plans they made in the safe house for their future were for naught, she belongs with Austin and their baby, he with Nicole and hers. Maybe in another life, says Rafe. Til then says Carrie. Til then, replies Rafe. Zzzzzzzz.
Austin returns with clam chowder, chicken soup and even ice cream for his momma to be. Rafe takes off, carrie apologizes to Austin for all they went thru the past several months, even what happened with Abby. All her fault. Not so, sez Austin. It is both our faults. Carrie suggests they look at real estate brochure when they get back to the room, and start house hunting. She wants 4 bd.rms. One for an office. He talks of painting the nursery, putting the crib together, and thinks bears would be a good theme. No, not teddy of Winnie the Pooh. Chicago Bears. LOL. Hey, some girls like sports, too. She laughs, she does, he was only kidding…and they will choose the theme together.

An upset Chad meets up with Melanie, where else, but in the Square. He talks of how everyone hated his father, Melanie offers sympathy, knows he loved his dad and she loves him. He regrets having rejected the DiMeras, but Mel assures him Stefano knew he loved him, and did love Chad, too. She talks of how well they got along the last couple weeks, Chad thanks her. Elsewhere in the Square, Andrew meets up with Gabi, who claims she is busy, going to meet someone. He says he knows why she hired him as her stalker, wasn’t for publicity, but so Chad could get to be her hero. She denies this, tells him she will call him when she needs him, and goes to join Chad & Mel. They order food to go, when the waitress brings it, Gabi goes to check her salad, to make sure they got it right, and finds a dead rat. Chad calls the waitress, wanting to know if anyone else was in the kitchen. She leaves, returning to say the cook mentioned a guy with heavy gloves, she figured he was taking garbage, paid no attention. Chad packs up the boxes, tells the waitress she has to call the health dept. to make sure there are no diseases, etc. Gabi is very upset, Chad spots Rafe, and runs to tell him, while Gabi protests. Rafe comes over, having a fit she never told him what was going on. She claims he would get upset. He wants her phone, to trace the text messages, she confesses she deleted them, doesn’t know why. He wants her phone, she claims to need it for work. Nope, you are not working any more. She protests, Rafe says she is on a break now anyway, she is going home with him, and then he is going down to the station to report all this. She again protests that Gabi & Chad were protecting her, Rafe says she is lucky he doesn’t stash her in the convent. They leave, with Gabi turning around to glare at Andrew, who has been watching all the time.

Over to Common Grounds where Roman continues to TRY and question Will, while Sami continues to butt in with assurances about Will. Roman tells her to be quiet, he has to do his duty, as he has done to everyone else. Lucas arrives, wants to know what is going on, gets filled in, sits down next to Sami. Will claims he went to DiMansion to see EJ, who wasn’t there. Roman wants to go get Will’s gun from the safe, Sami & Lucas have to tell Roman it isn’t there anymore. They don’t know what happened. Guilty looking Will confesses he took it, broke it into pieces, disposing of them in various spots all over town. O.K. down to the station for the residue test.
At the station, Lucas, Sami (gad her bangs are awful) & Will wait. His parents assure Will they love and trust him, are there for him. Roman comes and gets Will, leaving Sami & Lucas to discuss whether Will could have shot Stefano. Sami figures it is impossible, Lucas reminds her he already tried to kill EJ once. Sami knows, but he was a kid, that was long ago. Will returns, no they can’t leave til the results come. Sami hugs him, Lucas watches, Roman returns. Sami figures they can leave now. Nope, seems Will’s results came back positive for gun residue. Sami figures that is impossible. Will looks a bit sheepish, until Roman does what he has to do. Will Roberts Horton, I hereby arrest you for the murder of Stefano DiMera. Will is definitely looking solemn now.

Good point Lil0.

So, let's hope that is the end of the farce that might have been, Rafe and Carrie. And conveniently with their closure, Rafe suddenly crashes into Gabi's world and picks up a job. What coincidental timing.

Seems like Will never really answers any hard questions.

I like how Austin said he overheard the nurses at the hospital saying the test results showed that Rafe was the father of Nicole's baby.

Hmmmm, talk about a violation of the privacy policy at the hospital!

On a side note, looks like they're using Carrie and Rafe's old office as not only Daniel's office (by adding that weird fake wall to cover the cabinets on the side), but also as the conference room at the police station.

LOL, meant to mention that in lthe summary. Thanx, JS.
@LiL0....EJ wore leather gloves...won't be residue on his hands.

Even with leather gloves, the gunpowder residue can still get on the wrist or the part of the arm above the wrist.

Would that count towards firing a gun? And I thought he was wearing a coat????

It's really fine and could get on the skin, even in minute amounts, while wearing gloves and/or a coat.

All of the suspects have had a chance to wash their hands by now so they wouldn't find (gsr) gun shot residue, (if I remember correctly in the Phil Spector trial for killing a gal he met at a club in Hollywood, they couldn't find gun residue on his hands because he admitted he had washed them). And if they aren't wearing the same clothes, they wouldn't find any (gsr) either. Will admitted he took the gun from the safe, took it apart and threw the parts away, so they could have found gun residue on his hands or clothing from taking that gun apart (my theory)...

I was so disappointed in today's episode, it was like nails scraping across a chalkboard! Sami was in loud motor-mouth from beginning to end of todays show, and the rest was a snoozefest with Carrie/Austin/Rafe... (my gosh) Rafe has spent more energy mooning over Carrie than he ever has over the loss of his marriage to Sami to whom he really was in love with for a lot longer. The only redeeming part of today's show was that Chad finally told Rafe about Gabi's stalker, we can only hope that Rafe will end up sending Gabi to the convent!!! :D

Not a good way to end the week...

Wouldn't the cliffhanger be on Monday? Okay, let me figure this out. Say Thursday's was preempted. We would be seeing Thursday's on Friday, then Friday's on Monday?

Since they film 3 mos. in advance, and NBC already has their schedule set for SPORTS pre-emptions, they had to know this was the last day of the week for them.

I can't remember what it was, but for some reason I was thinking it was one day, a few months ago, that was an unplanned nation wide preemption which threw their schedule out of whack. I'm more trying to clear it up for myself. :p

We are still running a day "behind" because of a presidential interruption a few months ago. What we saw today was really supposed to be Wednesday's episode.

I'd think they're going to somehow edit the scenes to "catch up" before the "big" cliffhanger before it goes on a two week break for the Olympics.

Yes, slow episode.

Anyone else notice the room for Roman's office is the same room they use for Daniel's office ? Also used to be used for Carrie and Rafe's office.

They change the furniture and wall decor, but the blinds with the fabric stay the same.

LOL, yeah, who can miss those cabinets. Ha. With all the stuff they have in storage , you'd think someone could change the curtains/drapes.

I still don't remember an episode not being shown because of the presidents news conference.

I remember him interupting some of the episode, but not the whole show. When that happens, I watch the entire show on soapnet that night.

It happened on March 6th, and Days was pre-empted across the country, and on SoapNet, too.

But we ARE caught up, have been for a bit.

How did we get caught up? Seems like we've been running a day behind ever since. The Monday episodes since then have all seemed to be the Friday cliffhangers.
