Question about ads

Someone once sent me a site that you just type in an address and bingo, you are there on that street, up close. At the time was fun going back to the neighborhodd where I grew up, see what has changed, the apt. bldgs. where we lived when first married. But that site only had a map for where I live now. And in fact, had my location in the wrong area. LOL Will try to find that url. It is not Google.

My location was not right on Google Maps. I sent the correction email because of my difficulties with deliveries, but now wish I hadn't, lol. This has been a couple of years ago. They thanked me for the correction, probably so they could watch me more closely, lol.

I've seen the Google car twice. The first time was on the interstate and I have no idea if it was taking pictures or not and I don't remember the mile marker even if it was. The second time I was inside the library and it drove by. I just looked up the street view and I can't see my car in their parking lot, so maybe the picture they have is from a different time. Both times I had the urge to follow it and try to get on camera.

Double Click is owned by Google. When you do any type of activity on your computer these days, a "cookie" tracks your behavior and that is what generates these ads on Facebook and other sites. Most of my ads are travel and Disney related no surprise there.

Some sites have the functionality built. For example, when you buy something on Amazon, they almost immediately start recommending similar types of products for you to buy.

BUT THE WEIRD THING is that those ads began appearing and did not go to any political site, or a government site, nor did I click on anything. It was just so odd...

When you do Google street view for my house, it starts you at the beginning of my street, where there's a sign noting the end of maintenance. My GPS does the same thing, tells me I'm home when I reach that point rather than the half-mile to my house. I never thought about emailing Google about it. I might try that. They've updated the picture once in the 6 years I've lived here, and it was just recently. I wish I'd seen the car go by.

On my view, I can tell it's old because of a building nearby that has been added on to more recently. I see my picture was done in August, 2013 or something like that.

My problem lately with the ads is they are in German, I am not German, can't read German never went on a German website!
They are on this website in German And my earthlink homepage sometimes in German.
I don't get it but at least I do not have to read the ads!

I think you are thinking of this:
http://www.instantstreetview.com/

No, that was not the site........tho I think Google has taken over the street cam business. I did save it in my e-mails, just have to go thru them. Bet Google bought them out, too, by now.

It figures.........did not used to be. But then Google has to eliminate the competition.
