SOAP OPERA DIGEST ANNOUNCES LISA de CAZOTTE OUT AS CO-EXECUTIVE PRODUCER...REPLACED WITH ALBERT ALARR...JANET SPELLMAN-DRUCKER UPPED TO PRODUCER
Lisa de Cazotte is out as Co-Executive Producer of "Days of Our Lives." de Cazotte, who was the Executive Producer of "Passions" for its entire run from 1999-2008, joined the "Days" team as Co-EP towards the end of 2011.
The new Co-EP, Albert Alarr, has been with "Days" since 2003, when he first joined the show as a director. He added a Producer title in 2011. He's directed almost 900 episodes of "Days" since 2003. Alarr, 58, was born March 30, 1956.
Janet Spellman-Drucker has been upped to Producer, taking over Alarr's role. She has been the Senior Coordinating Producer on "Days" since 1997. Spellman-Drucker has been with "Days" since 1984, where

I thought that was the case. I know I was very surprised when she was brought on board.
I tell you, Al Rabin is sorely missed. He was a wonderful producer/director, who helmed Days during it's golden years, yes he was the one who fostered the ever so popular "super couples" I remember when he retired, and Days began to flounder, and he was asked to come back and "fix", and so he did. May he rest in peace.

when you think about it, the two head writers who were let go, plus this Liza were all with Reilly at Passions from Day 1. I guess his philosophy of Break 'em up, make 'em mean, nasty, no one happy got ingrained.
After all, it was Reilly who came to Days and began killing off ALL the major characters. I have no idea what his intentions were, but boy, the orders came down......fix it. Don't care how, but bring them back. And no matter what Corday says, all those killed were let go, were out job hunting, taking other jobs, etc. And so we got Melaswen.
And so these writers, in MY opinion, knowing getting rid of so many vets would not go over, instead, put them on the back burner, in comas, out of town, appearances once a week, once a month, changed personalities to fit a character they MAY have wanted to bring on while disposing of a vet etc. And focused on their own newbies.

Too bad it has taken Corday THIS LONG to make the changes. He should have woken up to what was going on long ago. But, o.k. takes time to get the ducks in a row.

I honestly have a suspicion/feeling that perhaps these changes were already in motion, but the show was waiting to make the official announcement. and MAYBE some story direction ideas had already been put in place prior to the departures of Tomlin/Whitesell & deCozette. ???? Maybe not, but we all know how close mouthed Days is, how they won't divulge a thing about what is going on May/June/July EVER! In fact, they all have to be very, very careful about any pics they post.

Well, I for one am over the moon at these changes. I personally thought Passions was one of the worst pieces of trash to come down the soap pipeline... BUT I respect that people liked/loved the show. Just wasn't my cup of tea. Lisa tried to turn Days into Passions in some ways, and glad to see they might be realizing Days has to have its own identity.

I don't want to see any jarring cast changes right at the moment. I want to see how these writers write for the entire canvas.
